Thanks for the reminder to go easy on ourselves. I've been under the weather the past 10 days and haven't gotten a single run in. Every day that's gone by I just dread how much I must be losing in conditioning. Heading out tomorrow, and as long as I don't cough up a lung I'll be back to it! I'll have to think up some questions for you, the one I had you actually answered in this video. 🙂

Oh no! Are you feeling better Kristen? That's the worse.... getting sick while training. My allergies were horrible this spring and I was also suffering from a general bout of laziness. Two months ... sporadic training. The good thing... it comes back quickly... you just can't start where you stopped... take a few steps back. I know you kow that already. 10 years of P90X taught me that. Ask away when you think of something.

Hey Gerald, the Q&A is a great idea. Look forward to seeing it. I missed out on doing Dopey again but I will be there in January for my 5th Goofy. Please keep your great videos coming. Thanks for all your effort. Bob

Hey Gerald, one thing I've been struggling with is maintaining a good diet for running. So I've been asking all the runners I know what their diet is like, in general and before a race. Keep up the great work!

Hey buddy. How are you? Too funny. I'm doing something on Diet and food next week. I struggle a lot too. If I missed anything for Dopey#3 ... I'll do it in Q & A.

just the 're-up' on motivation that I needed. I was born and raised in Palm Beach County, recently we made a move to southwest Georgia where I think it's even hotter....when I am done with the RN program here we are planning on moving back to possibly to the St. Cloud area...running on dusty dusty dirt roads creates more of a challenge to the respiratory system than anything else...i miss the asphault and concrete for that lol...I was on the fence about the Wine 'n Dine because of time and school and everything, but decided to pull the trigger on the 10k and squeeze it in. It really does help to have events you are committed to for motivation as well :) KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!!!!!

Oh man ... Stephanie ~ Georgia is brutal. Florida is hot ... but it aint the Deep South. LOL Good luck with school That's great. St. Cloud is quite close to me (and Disney) and a ice area. The "Medical City" area of Orlando near Lake Nona is growing fast. I'm sure you'll find a lot of opportunities. Hey...I agree with you on the race sign-up thing! They do add a bit of motivation by giving you a goal and something to look forward to... I'm still leaning toward Wine and Die Half. I'll be deciding in the coming days.

I was so happy to see they opened up some more spots for the 10k because I just couldn't fit the half in (but I wanted to try!) with having class scheduled Monday morning in GA and this being a camper trip/Fort Wilderness for us. I am so excited for all the opportunities sprouting up around the Central Florida/Orlando area and it gives me even more reason to justify a move closer to the happiest place on earth!...and to run more! Good luck and keep up the amazing work!! I say go for it (wine and dine half) if it works, you only live once :) :) :) (even though I waited this long myself to register for the 10k, lol)

Oh!...and for Q&A (and this could tie in with nutrition and hydration)...since it seems you like to stay on property as well for races, do you have any recommendations for restaurants the day before the race/favorite or most convenient resort to stay at, etc? 'pre-race fueling and logistics for on-site racers :)'

Awesome questions Stephanie. I think I'll be doing the Q & A next week or the week after. I was going to do a camera/gear video next week .. but I'm burned out. You'll understand when you see all the work I put into Dopey#3.

Nice job, once again --and yes I finally got to watch the whole thing! Thank you for touching on all the important parts of the mental side of training! Sometimes we forget that running is about so much more than the actually running. Take care, my friend! Good luck in week 3! Actually, I haven't technically started training for Dopey yet! LOL

I know we've already messaged one another. Thank you. It's so true. I'm glad I have taught myself to speak aloud to the camera ... because what's going n inside this head during runs usually winds up on the GoPro. LOL I'm also complaining and then telling myself I can do it. Talk to you soon. Hope you had a fun trip.

Thank you for these inspiring videos. After participating in three RunDisney events, I finally bit the bullet, after January's Marathon weekend, and signed up for the Goofy Challenge (I'm mean how could I not, they gave me a $10 discount, lol). It will mark my 5th Half and my first FULL! EEK! I binged watched your Goofy videos and am now inspired by your Dopey vids. Thanks for motivating me to stick to my cross training days with my husbands P90x. Keep kicking butt!!

BTW ... laughing my butt off with the $10. Right!? It's like Wine and Dine Half. They give you a $10 gift card for a race they charge $15 more than the other Half Marathons. LOL

Right?! Shhhhh I'll let yo in on a little secret. (*and anyone else who reads this.) Because of my eye problems, I use him to help me focus the camera. Another awesome video! Glad to see a fellow Temple Owl inspiring so many others and showing off some impressive video work along the way! Your videos have put me in a great frame of mind as I train for the Runner's World Hat Trick this fall! As for a question, or maybe even a video segment, if you can go into detail, or show how you do one of Jeff Galloway's magic miles, that would awesome! I just bought his book which explains it, but I would love to see it in video format. Keep up the great work!

Another Temple Grad ~ that's awesome. You know? I learned a lot there. My degree is RTF (Radio Television Film.) It was sooooo long ago, but good times. Great Question or suggestion. I don't think I've ever done the Magic Mile properly, so that would be a great video.

"Formerly" LOL That makes me feel old. Ugh! Hopefully we can catch up at a race sometime. Temple launched me into incredible 15 TV career before my vision issues. So, I have a little foundation to work with. I'm sure you can imagine the "lows" when I have to use my peripheral vision and a magnifier (or magnificaiton software.) Stay in touch my fellow Owl.

I thought you might be interested, I live up in Altamonte. I know it won"t be convenient for you, but we have a pretty nice running trail here. It has very few places where it crosses any roads, in fact the major ones have tunnels going underneath. Its so quiet all you hear are birds and your beeper! Its not far from Rosemont. Might make for a interesting video. Anyway I'm sweating it out with you and the other runDisney gang.
@RezRuns
@RezRuns 7 жыл бұрын
You rock. I ran across (figuratively) those trails years ago before I was a runner and while I could still see. Seminole is a great place for outdoor activity. I'll let you know if I can get up that way. It's probably safer than Rosemont ... it's why I usually run down at my friend's in BVL.

Do you use a specific running app to help you train? Thanks for the great video, I'll be running the half marathon in Disney in January. Good luck on the training, maybe one day I'll be able to do all the races like you!
@RezRuns
@RezRuns 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenny. Yes, I use iCArdio or Digifit. I believe the web site is fitdigits.com. I like the colorful interface and especially teh audio coaching because of my visual impairment. I also use Endomondo/Under Armour... simply because it's been training my routines (running and otherwise) for years and I can go back and look at the data. I know like most apps ... they charge a nomnal fee for "full" functionality ..so you can connect a heart rate monitor. Double check your HR is compatible if you choose one of the too. By-the-way, i"One Day" comes sooner than you know. I think I said that sometime in the Spring o f2016 right after I started running ... and look - I'm doing Dopey! :)

Congrats on a successful week 2, I ran a half marathon on the fourth and took some video which I'm hoping to turn into a future video, that's right you (and some other folks) have inspired me to give some video recaps a try it will be a very amateur effort but I'm also going to use it as an accountability tool for myself as you said if ive gotta make a video then ive gotta get my runs in. Just a thought for you and coach spanky have you ever looked into a Thunder Shirt for him? my dog is terrified of thunder storms and fireworks and the Thunder Shirt works wonders for keeping him calm, Ill try to get you a video question in the next few days and as always keep up the awesome work and cant wait to see what week 3 brings
@RezRuns
@RezRuns 7 жыл бұрын
Hey ... the more the merrier. I think taking the video is a great way to stay accountable. It adds an element of fun and (for me) makes the physical exertion just a little bit ... more bearable. (Is that proper grammar?) Let me know if you post your Half from the 4th. I took a video of my first 10K near Sanford, FL ... and it never saw the light of day. I think I still have the raw footage from August 2015. Send me a video question. That would be great.
