I like to drain my filters every 5,000 miles. Some people do it more often others less often. I typically get my fuel at the same station so I know what is going into my truck...5,000 works for me. Thank you.

I ran into the jam you are referring too Saturday after work 🙄 Drain valve snapped off and it was after 2pm. No one had the valve in stock and both Ford dealerships were closed here in Sarasota fL. SPE billet valve in the mail. Truck is sitting for a couple days 🙃🔫

Many Thanks for the video and showing me how to swap it out. I have 2 more ordered and should arrive in a week or so. Well I had heard of getting another one of these but thought why should I buy one since why would it fail since I hardly use it and my trucks pretty new. Well guess what? My 2018 F350 6.7 failed last night. Today cost me a hour long round trip cab ride to the nearest Ford dealer. Last night while in a Campground and having a hard time getting moist wood started by the Campfire I decided to do a slight drain and use the diesel for helping get the logs started. Well when I went to screw it back into the closed position it just fell out. Both plastic pegs were broken off. WHAT A BAD DESIGN! A $5 Ford part that disables my 65K truck after only 2 years and very little use. I intend to send the broken piece to Ford and let them know what I think of it in no uncertain terms. My last truck a 2017 F150 had a leaking plastic oil pan after only 2K miles. I am done with Fords after this truck and going to give Chevy a try next time. I have at least a dozen Ford products over my lifetime and it seems they never learn and are now going backwards.

Reading through these comments, water is heavier.....so drain an ounce and shut it off. If no water in that, you shouldn't have to drain anymore.

Good info, but you should consider the SPE billet aluminum fuel drain valve. Eliminates the plastic tabs so you won’t need several back up plastic plugs!

Hey there...sorry, I just saw this question. I am now doing drain intervals at 7,500 miles. I get my oil analyzed by Black Stone and so far as I move each oil change out in mileage the reports keep coming back with lower than average wear metals. So who knows how far I will go...but right now I'm at 7,500 miles using AMSoil. Thank you.

I broke the black plastic grove one of the yellow pins slide in. The plug sits tight when it’s in the closed position, but falls out when I open it. Is the housing easily replaceable?

How did you get the fuel to stop flowing without the plug? Mine just flows and flows diesel. I reseated the plug but it feels like its attached on one pin/one side. I'm kinda scared to drive it.
@AdventuringToday
@AdventuringToday 6 жыл бұрын
zfilmmaker man I hope your plug is not broken. It will drain a couple quarts of fuel before it starts to slow down. If it’s more than that then you have a problem. How can I help you. Just let me know and I will do my best.

My driveway where it meets the road (apron) is higher, I change oil there because it lifts the truck up and makes working under it easier. Maybe the angle had something to do with it? I hope at least. I turned the plug and it drained a good bit, I’d say a gallon and a half and kept on going. Then I noticed the plug fell into the jug. Not a good sign. I was able to push it back but its not tight like it was. I ordered replacement plugs… thanks for this video btw, I ordered a bunch! If your offer is genuine haha…how about a video showing step by step how to release the 3 different quick release plugs on the fuel filter under hood. Nobody has done that yet.

I tried to drain my seperator and it never stopped running out. Filled up a bucket and stopped. What could that be?
@AdventuringToday
@AdventuringToday 4 жыл бұрын
Jason Esterly Hey Jason. If everything is working correctly then about 20 ounces should drain out and it should stop. Honestly you should only need to drain out 5-10 ounces max because any water collected in the separator will be at the bottom so it will drain out first. Hope that helps.

Did anyone get an excessive amount of extra fuel from draining their separator on the frame? I ended up running my battery's down priming the pump so many times because I got 2 to 3 gallons of extra you will out of the something must be wrong
@AdventuringToday
@AdventuringToday 4 жыл бұрын
Actually some people have reported this on their trucks. The solution they came up with was to drain the separator when the truck was less than 1/4 tank full of fuel. I have a 2017 and have never had this issue with mine but it is not uncommon. Priming the fuel system should not run down your battery though...just because you got 2-3 gallons out of the system doesn't mean it will need 2-3 gallons to reprime. In the real world 3-4 cycles should reprime...doing a few extra is for insurance and to ensure extra air gaps are removed or diminished.
