Changing a battery on an Acadia looks intimidating at first, but it's not so bad. Have a look at this video to see how I changed mine with some simple hand tools.

Between this video and another one on the subject, I changed the battery in about 30 minutes. AutoZone said it would take about 45 minutes. Thank you!!

Mr. Cash, - 25C in Edmonton, AB. Canada today. Heads up from GMC came about a month ago but I was cold. Today, battery done. Bought a new one. I got to the security arm bolts and am now very grateful of your DIY posting on what to do next. Thank you, Jenner from Edmonton

I have a 2018 Acadia, the guy at O’Reillys said I might need a special tool that tricks the ecm in thinking that the battery has not been replaced. He said you can have some problems if you try to replace the battery like a normal battery. Have you heard this before?

What ended up happening? I have a 2018 as well and need to replace the battery. Dealer quoted me over $300

I just changed the battery according to this video with no issues. When I first pressed the start button, it hesitated to start, maybe because the computer had to reset. Starts normal after that. It took about two minutes for the tire pressure indicator to register. No other issues after the battery change.

I have a 2017 Acadia Denali. The battery hookups look the same, but I am hearing things about using a jump battery to keep 12v power to the vehicle while changing the battery. Not doing so can damage the ECM. Is this true for this vehicle?

Not sure on that. All I know is I didn't have any issues.
