I have this exact bow for 3 years now. The 2017 model and it's the best thing I've ever picked up. I bought it the moment it came out and since then it has only had one problem. Me. Personal error. I have nothing to say but good things about it.

I have always wondered about big name bow companies giving someone the run around. I shoot PSE and have thought about other brands but their customer service is above and beyond expectations. Knowing you went through the proper channels to check arrow spine should tell Hoyt there is something wrong and its not you. Im glad your local dealer is on your side. Maybe him pushing the issue to Hoyt will make things go quicker for you. Good luck. Im thankful you werent hurt.

Michael thank you for your comments... Hoyt finally contacted me and they are doing the right thing. They are sending me a brand new bow. It took a while and a couple of phone calls but the outcome it sound. My intent was never to bash Hoyt products but to put their warranty program in check. Spoke to two people, Kelly in customer service and Tom in warranty. They treated me with much respect and were super helpful. They ask me to go over the timeline of things gone wrong and came to a conclusion that sending me a new bow was in my best interest. Once I receive my bow, I will post final video on experience and tips to have a better experience with any warranty problems that you might have. Thanks for watching hope you subscribe to channel. New product reviews and better quality coming soon!

I purchased my cdt in april of this year, ive shot 11k arrows through it since then. 0 problems, not sure why your having issues. Im even still on the factory string. Bow groups really well out to 90yds (6" groups). I would recomend shooting a 300 spibe or stiffer. AA app. Recomends a 250 spine. Hope it all works out for you, take it easy.

The only thing I can think of is that the arrow maybe too light. By your setup, 6 grains per pound guessing the arrow weight around 420 grains. My 2016 carbon defiant turbo at 570 arrows is easy to paper tune and shoots 3 inch groups at 96 yards. That is 8 grains per pound and travels 265 feet per second.

Thanks for the comment and view... There was defiantly something wrong with bow. Hoyt sent me a new bow which should be coming in this week. It was shooting bullet wholes through paper before the failure. I am shooting a heavy arrow weighing in over 450 grains. I uploaded Part 2 to this video and will upload Part 3 once I get the bow in. Thanks again!

It's not just Hoyt that does this. I've read and heard stories of Bowtech's sub par customer service. Not saying that Hoyt or Bowtech or Elite or (insert your bow company) are bad companies. There is the off chance that you just happened to receive a bad bow. Just my opinion. However you did reveal some surprising info about the strings not being under warranty. From one Hoyt owner to another, best of luck with your bow and resolving your issues.

The dry fire test is not a 70lbs dry fire. (Think thats what I read) But it's to test their risers not strings and limbs . Hoyt seem to hold up for the most part. At the range a guy shooting a nitrum and a crossbow switching back and forth picked up his bow dry fired it then reached for his pocket and felt the arrow he didnt nock. The bow was fine for another hour of shooting . It makes me look at the hoyt line up.

It’s actually dry fire tested at 80lbs and does test all equipment for failure. Riser, limbs,cams & string. Which now is why they say shoot factory strings instead of spending $ on customs. I shoot custom strings anyways but that’s their advertisement. He unfortunately probably had an issue with the riser along with his failure. Not uncommon for a catastrophic failure at 70 or 70+ lbs hoyt should have warrantied the entire bow. Not just the cams or string and not sure why they didn’t. I’ll have to watch the part 2

No experience with the Defiant Turbo. However I have a Nitrum Turbo 62# 28.75 draw shooting in the B slot on # 3 Cam. It did not paper tune until I started shooting Victory VAP 300 arrows w/ 100 gr points (430 gr), AAE EP26 vanes 3 fletch. Shafts are cut at 28". The turbo cams need a stiff spine arrow since the cams are really aggressive. Move to a 300 spine are stiffer spine and your problem with tuning should be solved. Victory VAP 300's are small diameter but are thick walled. No complaints and shoot like lazers. At 70# and 29" draw you may need to go stiffer. VAP's also has a 250 spine. Hope this helps.
@edreviews
@edreviews 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input but I was shooting a stiff arrow at 330 spine. The dealer ordered 280's and it still did not paper tune. Still waiting, bow is at Hoyt.
@MSwickBR
@MSwickBR 6 жыл бұрын
The turbo's can be finicky to paper tune since the brace height are 6" or less. The brace height on the Carbon Defiant turbo is 5-7/8". If your draw length is too long it will be hard to get a good clean release because you are stretch out too much. Realize that most Hoyt bow's actual draw length can be 1/4-1/2" longer than what the cam indicates. On my Nitrum Turbo I tried 28.5 and 29" modules. My measured DL is 29.25, but I had to go down to the 28.5 to get a clean paper tear. When I measured the bows actual DL with the 28.5 mod it was 28.75". Shooting a 1/2 shorter made all the difference. With the longer DL you could be torqueing the string slightly. Just a thought may want to give it a try.
@edreviews
@edreviews 6 жыл бұрын
MSwickBR I totally agree with your info. The problem is that before the catastrophe, it was shooting darts through paper. I sincerely believe I just received a defective bow and as I stated in video and previous comments below, this is not a shot at Hoyt products this is me calling out their customer service. If they warranty my bow and send me out a new one, I will continue to be a Hoyt customer. No matter how secure and careful you are with quality control, products can slip through with defects. This is a fact, materials fail. The issue here is.... Stand by your warranty. If you claim not to have catastrophic failures, wouldn't you want to get in contact with the first one that did fail? What would've happened if there was an injury involved? That is all....Stand by your warranty! I will be a happy customer.

@edreviews
@edreviews 6 жыл бұрын
Karl I wouldn't be concerned as far as reliability. As I said in the beginning of the video I had a brand new Nitrum Turbo last year and it was an awesome bow. My intension here with this video is not to trash Hoyt bows but just to call them out on their warranty. As of yesterday the local pro shop here shipped my bow out to Hoyt. They received the heavier spined arrows and the bow still did not paper tune. Hoyt wants to take a look at the bow themselves it seems so hopefully at the end they will just send me a brand new bow. Only two things are upsetting...1- Don't know if I will have a bow for this hunting season which I have already purchased my tags and license. 2. How can you market and advertise a bow dry-firing in your factory 1500 times and then give me a runaround when it blew up in my hands while shooting a nocked arrow. I can totally understand a defective product, I studied mechanical engineering so I know there are mistakes in manufacturing that sometimes fall through the cracks, no matter how perfect we try to be..... what upsets me is the time and the runaround. I will probably repost another video once this issue has been taken care of and is complete to let everyone know who has watched this video the outcome. Thank you for watching and hope you harvest well this season!

Yes hoyt's video today showing dry firing 1500 times again. Not good service. I had a lower end pse and limbs cracked after lots of use and sent back to them and they didnt call to ask questions. They replaced all parts on bow right away and got it back to me fast! Pete Shepley has great customer service! I shoot a Mathews now and never had a problem so never had to deal with their customer service

Mike its crazy... Hoyt sent the bow back to the dealer last week with a repair order document (will be posted a pic on next video of document). The document stated that the raised the d-loop and repositioned the arrow rest which now the center shot is off by I believe 3/8 of an inch. Guess what happened as soon as we went to paper, SAME RESULT, bottom left tear. The dealer is now calling Hoyt again this week to send it back. This is absolutely ridiculous. I never though after buying 2 brand new bows (their top of the line bows each year for 2016/2017) that I would get this kind of service. That repair that they did was pretty much a slap to the face to the dealer. It pretty much stated that they didn't know what they are doing which they do. I haven't even mentioned in my video that the tech who is working on my bow at the dealer is a Hoyt Staff Shooter. The guy is extremely knowledgeable and super nice! I will be following up with another video as soon as I get my bow back to give a final review on this experience and final outcome of repairs. I really don't understand this non-sense and truly hope they do the right thing by me. They were not cheap bows... The worst part of all of this, I can't hunt this season until I get my bow back and as it looks so far it doesn't seem like it will be any time soon.... Thank you for your input and viewership Mike!

Mike its not cool at all like you said.... I will see how all of this plans out and like I said if they do the right thing and replace my bow, I good with that. If they don't, they are going to lose a customer who buys a brand new bow every year and will leave me with no other choice than to take a look at their competitors. Again thanks for the input brother!

Dakuan73 wouldn't imagine you've had any problems... Again this video was not to bash Hoyt products because any mass produced product can fail at some point... This is to check on their warranty program... To date they still have my bow. Hunting season started yesterday and I have no bow to enjoy the season with. They should not have taken this long to investigate the issue.

This is Dillinger21087 from California. I have never owned a bow let alone even shot one! I will b completely honest with all of u. I really want to get into bow hunting for sure! And coincidently! I really wanted to purchase a Hoyt carbon defiant. But, I can tell that u r bein completely honest with all of us here and just want basically what u n every other person that purchased one of their bows wants. Is a descent bow,right? No more no less. I'm assuming that is what I would expect from a company as established as Hoyt is. And, I really wish you the best with ur bow and if that's the kind of service u received then what would make me think that I would b treated any different!

Yeah bud, not trying to side with Hoyt (even though that's what I shoot) but the riser is dry fired 1500 times. Pretty sure they change the limbs, axles, cams and strings more than a few times during the test and its tested with 60# limbs. Anyway, I certainly understand your frustrations. Customer service in any company certainly has their work cut out for them. I work at a crossbow manufacturer here in Florida and I can tell you when you mass produce ANYTHING things are going to go wrong. Personally, I've dry fired my defiant 3 times. Shooting early in the morning and not clear headed, I didn't nock an arrow. Scared the hell out of me, the haunting "slap" sound it makes. But 1 year and 2000 shots later it's still a great bow. It's also 60# limbs and #2 cams but I'm a lot more confident in it now. Good luck out there

Patrick Coy yeah man I here you... in my follow up videos you will see they ended up doing the right thing which was all I wanted out of a company that I spent over $3000 on in a period of 10 months. They ended up sending me a new bow so just as I said I’m still a Hoyt customer. It did take some back and forth discussions but they replaced it so I’m happy. Now just counting down the hours to see the new releases tomorrow so I can drop another $1500. Haha.

EXPLODED MY HOYT! I have had some tuning issues with my 2016 Hoyt Carbon Defiant 34, I have been thinking that my accessories were to blame this whole time. Yesterday my bow started shooting funny again, my grouping was diagonal??? Then about 12 hours later I was sitting on the couch waxing my strings, my fingers were about an inch from the top cam and about a foot from my face... SNAP! My hands were stinging and cut. I started searching the internet to see if anyone else has experienced this. Its Sunday, I'll call Hoyt tomorrow.

I'm glad you did this video. I've had the same issues with their customer service. They Are not good people. Get a bowtech reign same speed but way easier to pull. Night and day difference between the two and both produce the same speed. Lol. If a bowtech fails they will give you a loaner. Till yours is fixed. I'll never buy Hoyt again cause how they treated me.

I can tell you from my 3 failures with Bowtech....Bowtech does not issue loaner bows!...depeding on your status at the shop, the owner at will may loan you a bow, but you will not get one via Bowtech...that is not part of the warranty. AND if Bowtech decides they need to see the bow....well your looking at a 6-8week wait with no bow!
@ianmcgaughey1
@ianmcgaughey1 5 жыл бұрын
@@fike301 I've personally never had an issue like that with Bowtech. I work at a shop and if they need to see anything they ask for pictures. They always tell me that the last thing they want to do is have the bow sent back. My shop can get parts within a week and have customers back out the door in 5-7 days. I've had complete blow ups where guys need cams, limbs, limb pockets, etc and I've got them ready to go in a week. If your dealer is taking that long or if they're sending it back to Bowtech they're not doing their job. The only time I've ever had to send anything back to them was when a riser on a Carbon overdrive was twisted. Even then, I got a call from them a week later confirming the problem and asking what bow the owner wanted as a replacement. I got him the bow in the next week so he was only out of the field for 2 weeks.
