Honestly speaking, its not easy to survive as solo dance artist in kpop world. Taemin & Sunmi proved otherwise. A lot of idol can survive for being apart of group, but solo is a whole different story. Because you'll need a good balance between singing alone and dancing. Great job Taemin! I can't find the correct words to express how Taemin's presence simply is ethereal. Even if you may not like his music/style, you CANNOT deny that this man's ability to own the stage is captivating! I grew up predominately listening to western music and witnessing some of the most legendary artists live such as MJ, Prince, JT, Beyoncé, U2, Rolling Stones, Celine Dion, etc. As an avid concert-goer, I thrive on finding artists that will be worth every penny of my investment. Its never just the baseline talent like singing, dancing, instrument playing, technical specs...its the presence, detailing, the message, and the emotion that I seek for. I've been to many shows for a wide range of Korean artists starting back during 1st generation era. I still avidly go if and when there's a chance. Of all the artist out there from then till now, I've been blessed to see some of the most legendary....yet I must confess that Taemin takes the THRONE as one of the greatest in the last 20 years. I can't explain why still, i just know that every time he's performing...it's a wild journey and I'm in for a THRILLING ride!

I love how he isn't performing a title song here. Not everyone can do that in an award show, because it might not receive much reaction. But then again, SHINee, as a group and as soloists, always have great B-tracks.

This just shows how intelligent he is in his field. He knows how when and how to make every single move. He is so sophisticated with his artistry. And I really really admire artists like him. I love this performance so much, I keep coming back to it every time...I feel like the dance and lyrics connect so well, i interpret it as taemin representing a person who's afraid of opening up to people close to him, literally not wanting any ''strings attached'' , because once he tells them every dark part of himself they can never go back to the way they used to be, because they might think differently of him. So he tells them not to open that door, and pushes everyone away, cutting them off but eventually is left alone, free to walk, but trapped in the prison of loneliness he unknowingly has build for himself

So DOOR is actually one of his majestic and spectacular performances that he did in his first solo concert in Budokan, Japan. So, for non Shawol I hope you prepared yourself to watch his DOOR performances. Actually When I heard that he's going to perform DOOR I was questioning myself how on Earth that he gonna performed this stage because MAMA is publicly broadcast and maybe, perfectly topless is not allowed (in my opinion). Then he came and performed DOOR the way he performed it back in his first solo concert. Me, myself and my non Shawol friends were shooketh that actually Mnet allows this full great performance.
