Know what's the nice thing about panorama? The crowd always reflect the true winner regardless of the judges decision or comments made on forums like these. Just like cricket lovers know their cricket and all fours lovers know their cards, pan lovers at panorama know their pan. Everybody will have their favourites but when the collective voice roars it's approval come finals night favouritism takes a back seat.

I was wondering how I missed this one but I see it has only been up for 20 Hours lol. Great sound as always, thanks.

I liked Despers arrangement the most found it the most entertaining. Renegades was also very good but I never thought that they would win it didn't sound like a winner. I remember the first time I heard All Stars I said "like they won already" and this was in the preliminary. They came in second, I wasn't sure but I was not surprised when they won if that's the last thing you hear nothing else would make sense. If Despers and All Stars had played in inverse positions the outcome might have been inverse. Star lifts' arrangement is the most thought provoking and was way to complex for a panorama audience. The Judges didn't get it and I fully understand it great when you understand what's going on. Overall everyone should be congratulated on some excellent performances. Thank you.

Vernon Sullivan ...Switching up the order of appearance would not have done anything as far the results are concerned. We just have to look back and see All Stars winning with Show Time from first place. Crowd participation is important and All Stars were the only band I know in recent history that played in a semifinal and came in second place after maintaining the crowd to the last hours of the morning. Desperadoes really didn't play like champions and All Stars played to win. Being there and hearing it live was something I will never forget.

Carlton Alexander style of layering with Despers is simply taking a part of the arrangement and repeating it several times but adding a little something extra each time. It sounds like a repeat while the song grows. It's a clever way of adding minutes to his arrangement. If these repeats are removed the actual arrangement will be about half the time. It also limits creativity. That's his style and so far he has a first and second place within 2 years. He also likes that staccato phrasing to augment the repeats within his arrangements. To each his own. Panorama would be very boring if all arrangers possess the same style. Another great 2017. STEEL PAN was the eventual winner.

This was a sure win for Renegades. All stars were up to their old cut and paste format with numerous chromatic runs. Despers used their new style of layering, an innovation of Calton Zanda perfected through the years with Siparia Deltones. Exodus fell short in the sweet category. BJ Marcel needs to add honey to his usual vinegar versions. His style is loud, explosive and speed but it does not raise the hair on your back. Phase 11 need to move away from their own composition for at least one panorama. I remembered many years ago Nutones from Arima with arranger Desmond Waite, played All night long by Lionel Richie ( on the bull track) just before going on stage and went on with ," Rat Race" bringing down the house and won the east zone. That created a winning atmosphere prior to going on stage. Clive Bradley says their are no rules when arranging a piece for panorama except for the obvious time on stage etc. Duvonne Stewart is a Bradley in the making. He is adventurous and innovative. Bright future ahead for him. Arddin Herbert is also getting there. Watch these two guys in the future. Panorama is in good hands. The Chinese can't reproduce that. It's unique to Trinbago. It's a blood thing. Show less REPLY

Just a suggestion regarding aerial coverage of the bands. The name of the ban and logos printed on the tops of the stands. It would look less bland

Once again Third place for Renegades. I have listened to this recording from start to finish with really good headphones and as always post Jit, Renegades sounded noisy… the tenors need to be toned down a bit. The front-line players are killing this band. I do not know if it is the excitement of the night or the new style of playing… I could not hear most of the other pans comprising the band in full play. The tenor play were also excessive. This undoubtedly would have been a winning performance if the music were a little more melodic. I would say the preliminaries was a more refined performance and that is the tone they should have had. Renegades are a big band and do not for the life of me have to pound the pans to generate a good vibe. This was a class of beating pans not playing pan.

It's boring if you don't like music. And since nobody paying you to listen to it or asked for your opinion you could keep your ignorance to yourself. Get lost!
