This is the facelift 2017 Peugeot 308 and it brings with it new engines, technology, and design work. Our test car was powered by a 2.0 litre BlueHDi diesel engine producing 181hp and 400Nm of torque. A new 8 speed automatic transmission also features.
The new 2017 Peugeot 308 GT comes with adaptive cruise control, lane departure, traffic sign recognition, and autonomous emergency braking.
In GT trim you get a set of leather heated sports seats. A new 9.7 inch touchscreen display is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Boot space is 470 litres for the hatchback.
The new 2017 Peugeot 308 range starts from £18,570 and goes on sale in September.

It's nice Peugeot are pushing more upmarket in terms of bodywork and materials, as their engines are pretty well built in my opinion - after all it's about time they lived up to the iconic Lion Emblem

My wife has the current version,of this car and I must say the sports button makes the most noticeable change to driving in this than in any other car I've driven. It makes a great noise , for a diesel. They pearlescent white is beautifully finished and looks very expensive.

Personally I would switch off the sound enhancement in sport - just noisy and it is not the engine its the speaker system. Also the digital speedo changes to some sort of power display which provides no usable information. Had I realised I might not have bought the car. It is comfortable and the ride and handling are good for my use, which is not boy-racer. Particularly pleasant on winding country roads but it not a race car. Straight line performance is respectable by family car standards only.

Brendan Webster when in sports mode you can turn off the instruments back to normal by pressing the button on the end of the windswiper stalk with a few presses.

@@KING0SISQO Thanks for tip, I'll try it. I prefer sport mode at busy roundabouts and other situations where responsiveness is particularly desirable. If you have any tips on voice command, I'd like to hear about them. Do you know how to avoid the radio switching off while parked with the engine off.

So, so many errors with this video. You called it a GT Line even though you've already told us it's a GT. The BlueHDi 180 isn't a new engine but the 8-speed EAT auto is. The rear bumper hasn't been touched by the designers. Moan over. Still left a like though 😁

At 3:30 ... "the gear change can be momentarily hesitant ... OK ... bearing in mind the caliber of this car" - What does this mean - good/bad compared with what? I have one of these cars and I find it hesitant when when pulling away from rest and when accelerating from low speed to slot into traffic at a roundabout. This is a bit disconcerting. I have tried using the downshift paddle to improve the hesitancy which I think it does but this obviously only applies to accelerating from a low speed and not to pulling away from stationary. The 9.7 inch screen is too difficult to use to alter the settings on Air Con or Navigation while driving. This is very frustrating - the Sat Nav interrupts the radio or mp3 player, to give directions; therefore, one wants to stop navigation during the bulk of the journey - until approaching the area that is unfamiliar. The problem then is that it takes several touches to relaunch the navigation - not great (nigh on impossible) on busy roads with no pull-off. A further irritation is that if you have Traffic Announcements on it takes several touch screen entries to switch it off, whereas manual/button control radio usually has a TA button and a quick dab is easy while driving to cut short lengthy uninteresting Traffic Reports (they hopefully are generally uninteresting and you are not heading for a jam - you would listen in that case). The phone facility is giving me mixed experiences. My wife's phone links and displays all her contact list but it connects briefly shows my contact list and then loses most of it. My contact list is much bigger than my wife's. I have 484 contacts on my iPhone and many have mug shots of the contact person. Perhaps the car does not have enough memory for people with lots of multi media contacts. In towns and country lanes road surfaces can be uneven and the car will tramp a little at times when cornering. Road noise can be bad too on some surfaces - could be tyres but I suspect the car is more susceptible to road noise than many. I enjoy the ride and road-holding on winding country roads like I have locally in West Dorset, UK. In sport mode, the engine makes a fruity growl probably due to the higher revs/lower gear. This combined with the dynamic changes to the dashboard display might excite some. The downside is that the digital speed display is effectively lost being replaced by mysterious power indicators. Which reminds me that the analogue speedo is not easy to read accurately. The digital speed indication is fine and I use that all the time. I find parking my older 308SW easier despite the fact that it has no sensors. Perhaps I just need to get used to the car but I think natural visibility is not great for reversing and the video display is not as good as mark 1 eyeball when reversing between lines or squaring up, but it is useful to judge the gap directly behind. For the money, a used up market car might be a better option, but that is a matter of taste.

@@gaffnaldo1 You have my admiration for observation. I have gotten much more used to the car now but the same irritations persist in respect of controlling functions via a touch screen. I would definitely prefer knbs and physical buttons for easy control of aircon, radio/mp3 player. I am not a great motorist - I still have not found out about voice control potential - even whther it could solve some control issues. One irritation that I don't think I mentioned on either website is economy mode when parked: it automatically switches off the radio after a short while and you can't switch it on to listen while waiting for a passenger etc. unless you start the engine and leave it running - very ungreen.

shame no i-cockpit, doesn't make sense why they didn't put it in as the 3008 already does! any news on the 5008?? I keep checking for updates and release date but no news since like March. I have a bmw 218d GT looking for but more space so maybe a Skodiaq or 5008 when it finally comes out, which one would you suggest? I like my gadgets and tech so 5008 is slightly ahead at the moment on paper.

Liton Miah i have the new 3008, the tech inside is the same as on 5008 and its great really. Easy to use, looks great and simple so it should age fairly well. As far as driving, comfortable but also quite fun because of the small steering wheel, but ofc its no bmw 3 series

lovre lozo yeah I really like the look of the 3008/5008. I use all 7 seats couple of times a week so space matters as well and the Kodiaq has plenty of it but the 5008 just looks lot more futuristic and with Aac and lane keeping assist and the massage seats, I just gotta have it lol

But the release has been delayed so much I feel competition will have time to catch up, especially if Kodiaq Vrs is released with Vw's digital cockpit then I'll be even more confused on choice

AutoExpress went ballistic: "beautifully balanced Peugeot" "it’s the chassis that shines brightest" "has an uncanny ability to keep you glued to your chosen line" "it’s almost perfect the way it is" "its winning formula when it comes to the talented 308 GTi" "the engine spins sweetly and is matched to a gearbox that boasts a precise action" "solid build and plenty of high grade materials"
