I would love to hang out with Ronnie. Her positive attitude, smiles, and laughter are so warm and attractive. And she's been that way for decades in the face of so much adversity. Love you, Ronnie!

Be My Baby may not have a actual #1 but it is a worldwide hit and universally recognized song. It is remembered long after many # ones have been long forgotten.

THE WORLD IS A LESSER PLACE WITH RONNIE GONE. A BEAUTIFUL LADY WITH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE. HER MUSIC HAS BEEN A PART OF MY LIFE FOR 50 YEARS. SHE AND HER SISTER ESTELLE FACED ADVERSITY IN THEIR LIVES BUT RONNIE OVERCAME AND CARRIED ON. I'M SORRY THAT SHE IS GONE, BUT I'M ALSO GRATEFUL THAT HER MUSIC WAS HERE IN MY LIFETIME. I HOPE SHE KNOWS THAT SHE WILL BE MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. REST IN PEACE VERONICA 💔

Great acceptance speech!! I love to hear what women have to say when they are in an empowered environment where they are being admired for their skills, passions and tenacity...not just whether or how well they crammed themselves into the male-approved version of a Woman in Rock.

As she said, she made her first record in 1961...it was the ONLY record she ever made. Not taking anything away from her, but damn, she only had ONE song, EVER.....PERIOD....

You never heard "I can hear music"..."Walkin' in the Rain?" ..."Baby I love you"..."Breaking Up"..."Do I Love You"?
@ChrisHansonCanada4 жыл бұрын
You're looking foolish by not doing your research. The songs she released in 1961-62 were not hits. "Be My Baby" wasn't until 1963. I guess you have no clue about Ronnie's history and her influence, which are the main reasons for this award.
@AlbertEinsteinSpock4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it was a silly statement by Kelly.

FYI... Saying that "Be My Baby" is an "international number 1 smash" is technically incorrect. It never reached number 1.

APianoPlaysMusic You are correct. But some people love a song or singer so much that they can't hear a not-so-flattering remark about them without freaking out. Let's just settle that "Be My Baby" is a great song brought to everybody's attention by The Ronettes. It's such a good song that many others have covered it, including Bette Midler!
@ChrisHansonCanada4 жыл бұрын
True, but it was #1 in a lot of markets, but not on the Billboard Hot 100.
@JamesTanmin1236 жыл бұрын
Did she marry Phil Spector, the producer behind this hit. He’s now rotting in jail for shooting to death a girl he picked up - on the same day he shot her, if I am not wrong. Such talent doing stupid stuff like that!
