Excellent video - very best for disclosing the perils - also the comradeship of the race participants. Thank you

Your video work really gave a good sense of what the trails are like. Good stuff.

Rick thanks really helpful... with two weeks to go until 2018 start I'm still debating solid forks versus suspension forks!
@rickashton19246 жыл бұрын
I personally recommend suspension forks. The route will absolutely beat up your wrists and hands. I will definitely take comfort over weight savings for this race.

Rick Ashton thank you for replying. I did exactly that today after watching your three really helpful videos. They were really good from a terrain point of view. I'm in England I have cycled New Mexico but the rest is new to me. I loved the vidoes and it's great to see a brother from another mother out doing his stuff. Respect Paul.

Banff Alberta Canada was the town they left from at the start. Butte Montana USA was the town they arrived at in the end, but was mis-labelled on the video. Note this whole route is very good bear habitat and bears are quite common. Take proper precautions at all times.

Are you doing the race in June, starting in Banff Canada?
@rickashton19244 жыл бұрын
You will be greatly rewarded with the beauty of the route but really tested not only physically but mentally also. Enjoy.

Man I would love to do this. Guess I need to ditch my road bike and find a mtn bike. Any good suggestions? What type of training did you do to prepare? Congrats!
@boneshakerpanniers88534 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. What bike would you recommend for the ride? Boneshaker Pannier Company
@rickashton19244 жыл бұрын
Hardtail or gravel is most common. Best to have front suspension for hands and wrists.

Hey Rick, which camera did you use for the nice movie !?
@rickashton19246 жыл бұрын
I was using the GoPro Session. I need to do something to cut down on the wind noise that messed up a lot of cometary while riding in windy conditions.
@coopbro4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. When editing just reduce the audio component for the sections that just need background music. That will eliminate the mic noise

Hi, I am curious to know why all these endurance events are call "Divide"? Does anyone know?
@rickashton19244 жыл бұрын
The Tour Divide Race is named for the route that somewhat follows the continental divide.
@mtblover4 жыл бұрын
@@rickashton1924 thank you. That makes sense.
@jean-pierreguerneui41474 жыл бұрын
I can see why people do it and like. And if you're a finisher you have achieved something you can be proud of. But personally I would not call it bike riding.
@johnlindsay36474 жыл бұрын
That's why you put a limb saw blade or saw blade about 21 in one or smaller in your downtube and on a string or rope or wire whatever you want and when you need it to cut trees down you just grab a branch make a bow saw out of it and cut up tree branches that's true bikepacking

hard to watch with sound on with that gay music. Great video though so far.
