Am I the only one who still prefer this than it's current 6th generation successor? Because this cab over style will forever be the best.

I really like the style of this vehicle. Almost all of the construction workers in Japan drive the Hiace. It would be great for lugging surf or snow gear for leisure purposes as well.

In indonesia hiace was introduced at the last 2012. It available with high roof model and 16 seat if I not wrong. Our hiace still imported originaly from Japan.

it looks very nice, but my issue with how it is designed is the location of the engine. you are technically sitting on top of the engine which is directly underneath the cabin. this could pose a potential health hazzard as the vehicle gets older. engine fumes could be an issue too.

I used to live in a third world country in Central America. These were very common, along with the Nissan Urvan and light 4 cylinder diesel trucks like the Toyota Hilux. The Hiace was probably the #1 choice for small public transports. Brings back good memories...

I've been to Japan and they have a Toyota Hiace with a gas engine. I hope in the near future, Toyota PH will avail a gas variant in the local market.

The fifth generation Hiace was launched in the Philippines on December 2004 or Jnauary 2005 starting with 15 seater Commuter and on June 2005 with the 11 seater GL Grandia. Commuter and GL Grandia Hiace both have manual transmission at first. In March 2006 the new top of the line Hiace Super Grandia was launched being ever the first Hiace with an automatic transmission. In 2008 they added drivers airbag for the Commuter
