The 2017 Toyota Kluger is the ultimate 7 seater on-road SUV and in this review, Simone tells you exactly why. For 2017 Toyota has made improvements to their Kluger in many aspects like performance, economy and creature comforts. But we couldn't help but notice the lack of LED headlights.
There are several trims available for the Toyota Kluger and in this video we got to sample the top of the line Grande in AWD. It's a big family car that has a 3.5 Litre petrol V6 engine which produces 217 kW of power and 350 Nm of torque.

Lot's of differences from US trims. That's a Limited ("Grande"). Not sure why marketers use these silly terms in Australia. Yet it has the SE wheels (US spec "sport edition".) So I wonder if this has the tighter suspension that our SE gets with these wheels.

Aussies are not a big fan of chrome look wheels for new cars (unless it's on a classic muscle car / hot rods)

Most Americans don't like chrome wheels either. The 5-spoke Chromtec wheels on the Highlander Limited aren't even chrome. Not sure why Toyota calls it "Chromtec". The material is really just a bright silver finish. Same finish as the roof rails which you can see aren't chrome. Chrome is a full mirrored finish.

If you want a punchier engine and transmission, go for the 2015/2016 Toyota Kluger Grande. It also has LED headlights, which is surprising because the 2017 one doesn't. In my opinion the older one also looks better, it is visibly lower to the ground (for a sportier look) and the placement of the LED daytime running lights is much better. The 2015/16 looks a little bit more premium if you get the front bar and side steps, don't skip the weather shields for the side windows either.

What? So the headlight has been downgraded from the previous LED down to Halogen? Shocking for 2017 to not even have HID.

They've never been LED on the Highlander (Kluger).

Maybe not in the US version of Highlander, but the Australian Kluger Grande definitely did - LED Projector Headlamp: www.redbook.com.au/cars/research/used/details/2015-toyota-kluger-grande-auto-awd/SPOT-ITM-436018 Scroll to Full Specification, and expand on Standard Equipment. Even if it wasn't LED it would have been an HID I can guarantee you that. I can tell right away between a Halogen headlight vs one that is not.

Edgar Chieng , are you sure you're not think of the LED daytime running lamps? That's different from the actual headlamp which has always been halogen.

Look at the link which takes you to the Aussie spec Kluger GSU55R (previous model). It specifically states that it has the following: Daytime Running Lamps - LED Headlamps - LED Australian Kluger up until the current model, have always had halogen for base model, and HID for top model, with the exception of the last generation which had LED for top model Grande.
