My biggest question is are any of the storage compartments actually dry? Every aluminum boat I've ever had had wet storage compartments.
@NoRedemptionOutdoors
@NoRedemptionOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
I put extra weather stripping in my compartment hatches and so far so good. Everything has stayed dry even after a two day storm where I couldn't cover the boat. That said I always air out compartments after a day on the water, which never hurts. They can sweat under certain conditions so I keep them aired out and it seems to work.

No Redemption Outdoors Well the delivery date has not been determined. Originally they said it would be four to six weeks out. But given the shelter in place mandates they indicated ten weeks. This is not a good time to be trying to get something done. There are few people working and they are working remotely. The Tracker sales people do not know the status at the factory. A unit might be already built, or near completion. I will just have to monitor the situation more closely. I really enjoyed your very thorough walk through. Given that you did the walk through with two years under your belt, you brought a lot of knowledge to share. Great video that I will have my sons watch as well.

Nice review Sir, I highly recommend you zip up the black Craftsman tool bag close to the batteries. If you get into some heavy chop or a storm, any metal tools coming out of that bag could possibly fall onto the positive terminal of your batteries and short on the chassis. This could turn a rough day on the water into a really bad day.

I found your review honest and to the point. Your quite handy. I never would have tackled the steering upgrade myself. Maybe 10 years ago I seen so many Tracker buyers complaining about there boat and the hassles with Tracker Warranty along with dealer services. I’m completely retiring in 2023 and will be looking for a fishing boat to travel to many lakes around my cabin. At the time being we have a Bennington Pontoon with a 50 Yamaha. Both are 2011 models and have been flawless. With time constraints of just weekends we fish our lake and I don’t want to haul my Pontoon all over. I have a great bunk trailer, I just don’t want to put my time hauling on weekends and dealing with the tie ups at the ramps. I’m learning $50,000 plus is easy to spend. And I understand when you made the comment Tracker vs other brands. However I’m starting to see better reviews for Tracker but the bad ones still linger in my mind. My Money is NOT Defective and I’m not looking to buy a problem. However I’m starting to feel Tracker is getting better, but I’m still a bit gun shy. I want to thank you for your honest video. I got the impression you’re also happy with the savings.

Hi Lay Low. Thanks for commenting. Yes, I have been happy with the boat, and the savings was significant. I think all in I have about $36K into the boat and the upgrades. A same size glass boat with similar upgrades would easily tip the scale north of $50K, to start. So yes, you have to put up with some quirky quality issues, but all in all the boat has been solid. The main concern I have heard, and still have myself, is the big 150 Merc on these 195's can cause the weld breaks on the transom. It's not overly common, but it has been an issue for some. That engine has so much torque, so there is an vulnerability it seems. So far so good, though. And I agree that the reviews seem to have improved in recent years, perhaps indicating quality improvements. I know they now brace that transom better, so someday I may have my transom reinforced for added measure. We will see.

Hey bud. Thanks for watching and commenting. I almost bought the 175, but ended up the with 195 when I considered I often have three people on board. I liked that it could take the bigger engine and the extra deck space is essential. Still, that 175 was nice. There's a reason they sell a lot of them, and I think for the money they are hard to beat.

I have two issues with that foot remote. First, it is not very tall, thus it sits low in the tray. I made a wooden platform to fit inside the tray to raise the peddle high enough for my liking. Secondly, now I do not even use the foot peddle because even if you want to move the trolling motor one inch to the left, you have to press the peddle all the way down to make contact with the sensor and the motor rotates so fast that it will tale 3 to 5 adjustments back and forth before you get the trolling motor going in the original direction that you wanted.

Now that I've been on the water a few time since I installd the center step console, I might rank it up there as one of the best upgrades I have made. Odd as that might seem, it's amazing how much better it is for moving around on the boat efficiently. I love it. The mercmonitor is excellent also and I highly recommend. I also installed the digital water pressure sensor (which didn't come stock on my engine) so I get the water pressure readings also. I think that knowing water pressue and engine temp is almost essential on these big and expensive outboards.

Well done review of a very nice boat. Really like the TXW package and I would own that boar any day. I've always been told that a Mercury four-stroke is an engine and a trolling motor is a motor. One uses petroleum fuel and the other is battery powered. I'm not being critical...just passing along something that was mentioned to me several years ago.

Hi Jim. Haha. You are exactly correct. And the most ironic thing is I am very particular about that rule with cars. They have ENGINES. But here I am calling that big Merc a "motor." SMH. Nice honest review...Great content. Wish you could elaborate on the fit and function because my biggest gripe with Tracker is the build materials. My 2018 190 TX Hs corroding cleats, carpet loosening,rusting screws in top of fuel tank,weak standard troll motor,fuel tank that pressurizes over time, and driver console pulling away from starboard gunnel. Keep an eye out for these gremlins on your rig, and keep the great vids coming. Just subed!!!
@NoRedemptionOutdoors
@NoRedemptionOutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
Hi River Parish Rattlers! Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, as you mention the fit and finish is the biggest issues I had. I haven't had any rusting screws but I have had some loose screws (figuratively and literally -- lol). But more than anything I've seen debris and left over misc pieces from the manufacturing process. Also some sketchy wire harness routing through bulkheads that are bound to chafe over time. I addressed those kinds of things and now I think everything is tight and orderly. One shouldn't have to do those kinds of things on a new boat. And I guarantee if I paid $60K - $80K for a boat I would be livid if I found that. But on a budget boat some things are expected so it's a matter of your tolerance I suppose.

This boat is leaps and bounds better than the boat that i DONT own YET. Its a nice boat and im happy your enjoying it and it does have some cool features for the price. Everyone has a different budget including myself so im not judging your rig. As others have stated the build quality seems a bit lacking for my taste but im curious how the price compares to some of the competition from crestliner, lowe, ranger etc. How much can one realistically expect to save from the other brands?

Not a lover of a foot controlled T/M. Been using hands and hips for many years. Plus my T/M is a variable speed type. Not the 5/ 3 speed type. Mine I can dial in the exact speed needed for what ever condition. You have a nice rig. Tight lines .
@NoRedemptionOutdoors
@NoRedemptionOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Hey John, thanks for watching. I'm totally with you on the variable speed troller. The Xi5 does have the foot pedal with the fixed speed position knob, but the handheld controller allows for variable speed control. Also, it's networked with my graphs and that allows me to set a course or a route that it will auto follow, or call up a file with waypoints and it will visit each waypoint automatically. And of course Anchor Lock, which holds it in place very well, even in tough wind conditons. I have plenty of complaints about the Xi5, not the least of which its deployment mechanism. I have to say I hate how you have to step on a pedal to release the motor, as opposed to pulling a cable. But overall I really do love this T/M and its netorking, variable speed, and its power, which is good too. Take care brother!

My buddy has one of these and I just stepped into it today to help him load it up. It is a really nice and spacious rig, without doubt, but I feel like there are some shortcomings about it. One of the main things I noticed is that it's somewhat tippy. Like more than what I was expecting, and after checking it's spec weight, I found it weighs 1215 lbs, which is just 300 lbs heavier than my fully loaded and fully modified Classic XL. The next thing that left me perplexed is the fact that the trailer is not a tandem trailer when it really seems like it could and should be. I also noticed my buddy had the OE rear transom hold down straps as you first highlighted in the video. For the price you paid for that rig, it should had came factory with those boat buckles already integrated. I don't know. Like I said, really nice, but there are things that should either come with it, be on it, or have more of on it. The more I think about it, the more I'm glad I made the decision to go with my Classic XL and just deck it out. Beautiful rig and awesome video!
@NoRedemptionOutdoors
@NoRedemptionOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Hi @Extreme Boating. This is a great comment. Your observations are correct. First, yes it is a bit tippy and if there is anything that causes me to go to a glass boat, it's that. It does test your balance and mine isn't what it used to be. Also, they now offer for the 195 an optional tandem trailer. As far as I'm concerned it should be standard. And it I'm not mistaken they offer the boat buckles as well. Again, another option that really should be standard. All in all I still love my boat after more than 3 years. It really is a great rig, especially for getting into some shallow areas you simply cannot reach in a glass boat. I love the 150 four stroke. That thing is a beast and it just runs. I can still recommend this boat to anybody who is interested in a bass rig for much less money than fiber glass. I may go back to a glass boat, but mostly for the added stability. Otherwise this is an awesome boat in my opinion. Thank you so much for watching and especially for your very good comment!

@extremeboating7347 3 жыл бұрын
@@NoRedemptionOutdoors absolutely buddy! I found your account on IG and followed you on there. I'm glad they are offering some things as optional now for sure. I really think that they should be standard as well, but what can you do. As far as the balancing act goes, yeah it can be a thing can't it. I have some issues sometimes as well but have never fallen in either. I will say the absolute best thing that I really really enjoy about it is that it can go into some seriously shallow areas. I think there are some pros and cons in the tin vs. glass arena, but with saying that, the same can be said the other way around. I think it just depends on your overall goals and intended use. At the end of the day I really enjoy my tin boat and while I wouldn't mind having a glass, I want to keep my expectations and constraints realistic as well.

Hey Tom! Thank you for watching. The aluminum is a different experience from glass boats, for sure. Anything around 60 mph in an 18.5" aluminum boat FEELS much faster. But once you get used to the ride and how the boat handles, it's very exhilarating. And I can get into some more shallow areas that most glass boats can't. I think you will enjoy the Tracker, and with the money you save you could rig that thing to be a fish slayer. Have fun and enjoy!

I have a new Terrova trolling motor and I also have the love/hate going on with it. The electric foot pedal is so much slower in reaction time vs cable. It takes so much longer for the head to spin around vs cable. And my spot lock doesn’t seem to be as pinpoint accurate to me as I had expected. It takes it a few seconds to respond to the spot lock command. And by the time it reacts I’m usually already 5-10 ft off my targeted lock

Hey Jordan. Thanks for watching! And thanks for commenting. That's exactly the problem with my Xi5 pedal. You have to operate it differently than you would a cable steer. And I just haven't gotten used to it. I have been really forcing myself to use it this year and depend less on the hand remote. Otherwise I love this motor. I have no experience with MK spotlock, but the MG Anchor mode is really very good. Quick responding and keeps you very close on spot, even in some pretty stout wind. And I love the integration with my graphs. I actually use that feature a lot when I'm setting routes and way points that I want the Xi5 to automatically follow. That is probably the most cool feature for me. Bell well my friend.

Hey bud. Thanks for watching and for your questions. It has been my experience that it does very well on smooth and rough water. I wouldn't put it on par with a heavier glass boat. But then again I've been in glass boats where I got much more wet from splashing water than I do in the Tracker. Since you mention the idea of a follow--up on this topic, I will make a point of gathering footage of the boat handling various conditions and I'll post a future video reviewing its performance.

I’d really like to know how much you have in all the upgrades making it the way you have it with the steering all the other upgrades if it’s just easier to go with a Skeeter after having replaced so much and what your not getting single axle trailer less hp have to put in weather stripping for dry storage can’t go in any kind of bad weather or else your in trouble in the tin boat I rode in my buddies and it was the roughest ride I’ve ever been in and it was only 12mph wind. Trolling motor issue no minn Kota. Tiny electronics. Can’t do hydro jack just not sure if it’s worth saving 8-10 grand that’s why I’m curious how much all your upgrades cost.

What a terrific review-Very thorough. I did some similar upgrades to my 2016 175TF. I wish now that I had gotten the TXW instead, mainly because of the configuration of the storage and live wells(TF has 2). At the time I purchased my boat, I didn't realize the TF was set up primarily for crappie fishing. Oh well, I still like my boat. The Lowrance Elite 9TI are what I have at the bow and helm, and I have the Motorola Xi5 as well. I notice that you didn't mention the add-on cable guard from Precision Sonar. And, I'm curious what your take is on deploying and recovering the Xi5? Thanks for a great review.

You have a beautiful boat with a very good taste in Upgrades. I found the steering upgrade the most important as I have driven my friends Skeeter with the 195 Mercury and I’m not sure if he had a Cable steering but the boat was definitely unsafe at certain speeds it was definitely noticeable and felt extremely unsafe and squirrelly like you said. @@PapiOso55 Either is a nice boat. I obviously love my 195 cause the front deck is like a small aircraft carrier. But either is good. Just to give you some insight, recently we went out and had to go through some canals and tunnels. I posted a video about that day. At one point I hit a stump under the waterline. I hit it pretty hard. It lifted the boat up and scared the piss out of me. Luckily it didn't hit the engine. But later in the day when we had the boat back on the trailer, there wasn't even a dent on the hull. Had it been a fiberglass boat, I'm not sure I could say that. And, because it's aluminum I was able to get into VERY shallow water. So that another advantage of a tin boat. I know I'm biased, but I love my Tracker because it does everything those really expensive boats do, for half or less the money.

I've been hunting for better ideas on tackle organization. Thought about building vertical shelves out of HDPE sheeting but your plastic tote seems way easier and more economical. Can you share which exact tote you're using? I also noticed the seals you put in the front locker channels. Can you elaborate on these and if they've been successful? Hi Warren. Thanks so much for watching! How are you liking your 195? I'm still very pleased after three full seasons. The tote I'm using is one I got from Sam's Club. It's called the CleverMade CleverCrate 62L. It is collapsible so it can be easily stowed when not being used. As for the weather stripping on the compartments, I used some generic stuff I got off Amazon. It has an adhesive backing and I must say, it really seems to help a lot. When you first install it the doors to the hatches are a little hard to close but over time that goes away. Overall I've noticed a significant improvement, especially when it's raining. The compartments stay pretty dry. I was surprised. It's not 100% but I regard it as having been worth doing. Good luck and thanks again for watching!

@@NoRedemptionOutdoors thank you for the quick response and tote info. Overall I'm pleased with my 195. The abundance of deck space is my top accolade. Performance is good but it tends to get sqirrelly at higher speeds. Versatility has been good for me too - I've had it in skinny backwaters and on large reservoirs. I really only have 2 complaints. Not a fan of the single axle trailer. I frequently travel 5+ hrs and would like that extra stability on the road. Other negative is the sub-par craftsmanship on the finishing details & cleanup during manufacturing. Hope to see more boat related vids from you in the future.

I asked my salesman about this before I purchased my 2018 190. He was honest and admitted that it was a play on words...The hull,frame and transom are wood free,only the decks have some wood construction. Most pple are concerned with hull damage and weakened transoms as it relates to wood. Besides that I think it makes for some easier aftermarket installs...IJS. I still have not added a radio to my boat in 2 years because I cant push myself to cut speaker holes in my aluminum. Wish I had the storage spaces!!! The 2018 190 doesn't have the step cooler. I would honestly say don't count out the Tracker till you take it for a spin. I just couldn't afford a 60000 boat, That's half the cost of my HOUSE!!! LOL

I bought my port console used for $325. I'm not sure about current MSRP, but I think it's considerably higher than what I paid. And, yes it's a two bolt install. Really easy. If you plan to take the console off from time to time, then the hardware provided is pretty good. If you plan to leave it installed, I recommend getting your own stainless bolt and nut hardware, and some blue locktite, and crank it down with a good ratchet. The vibration tends to loosen up the factory hardware so you must constantly check and retighten. But with your own hardware, it's not a concern. I think you would really like this Tracker. I've had mine for over three years now and I still love it.

The hydraulic steering is the Baystar model, like the one in the following link: www.amazon.com/Baystar-HK4200A-3-Hydraulic-Steering-Cylinder/dp/B00PBDT3B8/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=baystar&qid=1626701770&sr=8-2 I believe it cost me about $600 - $650, if memory serves. I almost moved up the the Seastar model, which is for bigger engines. They say Baystar is good up to 150hp, but in hindsight I probably would have been better with the Seastar, which is about $1,100. For a 115 hp or 90 hp, the baystar is perfect. The aluminum mounting brackets I have for my versatrak are from Brocraft. They are pricey but I will say they are bullet proof. I've heard that some guys make their own, which seems doeable even for lesser skilled guys like me. But they are great mounting systems that work with a variety of accessories. So you support the transom saver from the transom? Kinda defeats the purpose of the transom saver. Had you went down to the trailer to get the added support for the transom because of the motor putting leverage on the transom during transport. That would stop the motor from flexing the transom because it's seperate from the transom.
@NoRedemptionOutdoors
@NoRedemptionOutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
Hey bud. Thanks for commenting. There is a lot of information out there that suggests you shouldn't use transom savers that hook to your trailer because it transfers movement from the trailer to the engine, causing more stress. Check out this discussion on the topic. There are many discussions like this and ultimately you have to use your best judgment. texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/printthread/Board/28/main/1003450/type/thread

Wow your thread made my point even more valid, but I can respect your view on it and will like you said make a decision I can live with. I feel the difference between a boat crossing waves which give way to the boat are less likely to be as rigid as the tires transmitting highway bumps abruptly to the transom. So I suppose I'll stick to boat tight to the trailer via the exact brand and type of ratcheting trailer straps that you have and snug the motor into the v- shaped support from the 4 inch box trailer frame to the lower unit.

Great review and some nice add one I didn't realize existed. Currently an owner of a 2004 175 Pro and pretty happy with it as well. What do you fish for predominantly? Also it's obvious you take exceptional care of it, I knew that prior to the waxing of the motor comment, but what is your opinion on the paint and it's durability vs a raw aluminum? It sure looks nice but I'm curious if it's easily scratches on the rails etc during fishing or if you ever ease up by a dock to launch.

Hey Josh. Thanks for watching. So far I have found the paint to be reasonably durable. I believe it's powder coated and although it's durable, it will scratch. So I'm cautious within reason, and I keep a bottle of black touch-up paint handy in case I get a scatch. I really haven't had much trouble though. I must say that the trailer seems more prone to scratching and mild surface rust in certain spots. Nothing major, but if I didn't keep up with it very obsessively, it might become an issue over time. So I have less fondness for the trailer.

Sorry, I forgot to answer one more of your questions. I fish mainly for large mouth bass near my home, and when we go to the UP of Michigan every year we fish for small mouth and northern pike. And walleye, of course. I don't seem to be very good at catching the walleye though. 🙃

Howdy friend! Thanks for watching. I'm sorry to hear about your friend's boat. It sounds like a callobration issue with the trim/tilt, or perhaps some kind of trim motor issue. I am happy to report that I've had my boat now for almost 5 years and it's still going strong. I have been very happy, especially when I see the prices of new boats. I wouldn't be surprised if my boat is still worth used, what I paid for it new. But that aside, it does all that I ask of it, and the Mercury has been awesome. I hope you and your friend are able to sort out the issue with the trim/tilt. I feel pretty sure that boat will run nicely with that 115hp. Best of luck and let me know how it all works out. Thanks again for watching! And be sure to check out my weekly grab bag givewaway. This week we are giving away a custom painted bass lure. Check it out!

Hey Chancellor. I'm running a 24p Tempest Plus. I'm considering going to a 4 bladed prop like the Trophy Plus. Hard to come by and EXPENSIVE. So for now I run with the Tempest

Hey Wayne! Thanks for watching. I believe I got mine from Amazon but a quick search didn't find it there. So instead here is a link to the OEM for the steering wheel. Hope this helps. www.seastarsolutions.com/products/steering-wheels/

If you have a steering wheel puller it's not too bad a job to do.

I think you will like it. As you know I have the three step version. I like having the ability to adjust and move the ladder around, which is one advantage of this system.
