Inveraray and District Pipe Band react to the announcement that they have won the 2017 World Pipe Band Grade One Championship at the World Pipe Band Championships. The championships took place over two days on 11 and 12 August on Glasgow Green.
The band with Pipe Major Stuart Liddell and Leading Drummer Steven McWhirter pretty much swept the board in the Grade One prizes.
The video also includes the band's qualifying Medley. This performance was neither streamed live on the day or recorded by the BBC so it's great to be able to document it on this channel.
Tunes played are:
Ceilidh Lines (composer: A Reese)
An Cota Ruadh (The Red Coat)
The Islay Ball (trad.)
Jig of Slurs (composer: G.S. McLennan)
Skye (composer: Fred Morrison)
She Moved through the Fair (trad.)
John Morrison of Assynt House (composer: Peter R. MacLeod)
Alick C. MacGregor (composer: G.S. McLennan)
As was the case in 2016, the Friday qualifying rounds were marred by continuous rain and wind.
Heartiest congratulations to the band, Stuart Liddell and Steven McWhirter on their achievement. The twelve bands which played in the Final all played with distinction, and performance standards were high and consistent.
