This Will Allow You To Lay Your Rear Seat Down Somewhat Flat. It Also Allows You To Store Items Behind The Seat.

After I painfully crammed my hand down there and released the catch, I found the pin had a hex head. And inside the seat was a strap with a plastic part that snapped onto this hex head. Snapped it on and now just pull on the strap. So there may be a Ford part number for the strap. Anyway, my seat folds and is stock. 2018 Supercab XLT

I bet this could save somebody some time and eliminate frustration. On my 2018 Supercab the seat back doesn't move with the seat bottom is folded up... not at all. Just remove the seat back bolt - drivers side - where it hinges from. That one bolt. That lets you pull on the upper seat opposite side and that corner (less the bolt) swings in revealing a huge gap that's easy to reach in a pull the pin. I used a pair of long nose pliers.

Could you possibly be a little more clear on what/which bolt you’re referring to, that has to be removed? There’s like three bolts on the side. I’m not exactly sure which one you removed. I’m hoping I don’t cause a problem if I remove the wrong one, and am unable to get it back together. Also-drilling that hole in the pin was quite a feat in itself. I’m guessing a 3/16 bit, maybe? Getting it started must have been another P.I.A., I would think. Thanks for any help.

I can’t get my 2020 latch to budge, very tight. Perhaps your trick will work for me.

1,000 thanks. I did as you said and for the first time I had tons of room to work. Now my jumper cables, snow brush, change of clothes, and a jacket are neatly stowed away and out of sight. An army blanket is on the “easy” side, so I should be all set. I will get something a little nicer later on, but for now some electrical wire works just fine. Here’s another 1,000 more thanks for good measure.

The video wasn’t that informative. At 1:23 into the video there is a single second on the latch mechanism. The rest of the video focused on your chain. I wish the video actually showed the chain pulling the latch pin.
