2018 Honda CB125R Review - My First Motorbike

My first motorbike review of my Honda CB125R. As a learner rider this is an ideal first motorbike and a really reliable sound commuter bike. Join me for a ride before I complete my MOD 1 and MOD 2 and move up to a bigger motorbike :D
As far as 125cc bikes go, this is a really grown-up looking bike with the dimensions of a much larger bike. Honda have done a great job growing the design of the Neo Sports Cafe style from this, all the way up through to the CB1000R. If you want a easy to ride bike that will give you fun and enjoyment no matter what the weather, this is your machine. Good for commuting, good for a blast (not fast though).
All my motorbike clothes are Alpinestars and have suited me through all seasons over the last twelve months.

This was my first bike but a 2020 model and in the very short time I had it I loved it. These are ultra reliable machines and also hold their value so I'd recommend anyone to get one. I'm now on a CB650R and again that's a quality machine

Nice job for your first video. Very informative. Have decided after 20+ years of procrastination (I'm 48!) that 2021 is the year I finally learn to ride and I'm definitely going to get this Honda for my first 6-12 months on the road. Good luck with your KZfaq project and stay safe. 👍

Thanks very much, very kind. It’s a great bike and learning to ride is one of the best things I’ve ever done - I enjoy it in all weather but on a sunny day it’s incredible. Be warned though - it’s an addictive hobby 😜. Cheers.

I fully expect to get addicted. I've already gotten addicted to all motorbike-related videos on KZfaq in the past few months so there'll be no hope for me when I get on two wheels!😄 2 questions: A- Did you pass all your subsequent tests? B- Did you get a bigger bike (and if so, what was it?) Safe riding 👍

Just got mod 2 left. Was delayed cus of covid. I have my eye on a few models but love the Street Triple RS abs the new monster.

Nice one! Well done, really hope you enjoy it. I passed my MOD 2 this week so I will be changing soon. But she has been a real joy for the last two years.

Thanks so much for the feedback! :) it’s a great bike and even though I have now got a bigger bike I do miss it. Look out for my next one of my new bike BMW F900R ( with some nice upgrades)

Good question. Wanted to do more but lock down y know? I upgraded to a bmw f900r then sold it and my car for a m135 so back In the market for a bike. May do some test rides? - what’s ur thoughts?

Thanks. If you look at photos of a standard model you will see that the license plate holder is really long. It really spoils the look of the bike in my opinion.

Simply - do it. Amazing. Just know that the testing system in the uk is lengthy. But we’ll worth it. Start out small. Take time on that then move up. A 900cc is something u really need to control.

Hi. I’m 5.7 and can comfortably get my feet down so u will be fine. The seat is really comfortable - I commute an hour to work and never been a problem.

Hey! Thanks for the review. I am getting the 2021 CB125R and was planning on using as much as possible for commutes/local trips etc. As a new rider yourself, how do you manage to ride in any weather? Any gear combinations you would recommend? Any modifications required to the bike itself? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Congrats. Awesome bike. Just traded in for a bmw f900r. I rode in all weather all year round. Good all weather stuff from alpine stars. You will need heated grips but that’s it really.

Great video mate, got my CBT booked and my eyes on one of these. Contemplating whether to wait until i'm 24 to do a combined course, or to do the tests separately. Definitely finding the whole license process confusing!

Hey mate. Thanks. Got plans for many more when I can get out test riding etc. So u need to do ur CBT regardless. Then if u do direct access post 24 it combines all 3 of your theory mod 1 and mod 2 I think. There’s a handy tool on DVLA that explains it based on your age. Regardless though I would just do it. This is a great bike to learn your craft on but once u ride a bigger one in your lessons you will find that much easier. For me it came down to bigger bikes having a lower centre of gravity. But- this bike is great for commuting and blasting around on. Plus it doesn’t look like a 125. Best of luck with it, excited for you :)

@@ontwopegs1933 Cheers mate, just had a quick look and can see that the A2 is quite easy to get after my CBT as I'm over 19, I initially thought it only covered up to 125 but turns out its 395cc, slightly confusing how they use kW haha. Take care

This bike should handle a motorway no problem, if it doesn't there is something wrong as my old 1986 Suzuki RG125 Gamma could keep up with most vehicles, not a good review if someone was actually buying it for motorways and b rds

It will keep up but struggles with headwinds. I have ridden a few 125 that are the same. For B roads it’s great and you can get 70 on the motorway but takes a while to get there and that’s too end. But if 125’s are your thing then good for you.

So for me it was £200 for my first year of riding on a CBT. Not bad I think.

I'm have had a CBT for 1 year no car license or no claim bonus and am 21 this year the 21 virson for me is 1000 but I live in Scotland so could have something to do with that

@@ontwopegs1933 yeah it's my second bike annoying that I don't get a one year no claims as I sold the first one for scarp as it after 5000miles the engine was about to blow 1000 miles back and had no working lights or electrics for 2000 did me well until I moved house
