Nice job on the comparison... For students the regular iPad is the way to go but when you go to the store and look at them I think the pro is the deal if you have the extra cash the screen looks pretty nice.

I know I know.. the pro is better but the 2018 iPad is underrated for 300 dollars it’s a beast

Just a little warning, if you use an iPad Pro, you wont be able to downgrade to the regular iPad, 120Hz and laminated screen and thickness makes a massive difference

Love Aaron’s videos. They’re always very honest and educational. I have the iPad Pro 10.5 and for the kind of work I do with ‘Affinity Photo’ it really is an alternative to my Laptop Photoshop when I’m traveling. But if you’re just a student or one who uses the Tablet for general browsing, mail and KZfaq watching the 2018 iPad should be just fine. All in all when it comes to Tablets Apple rules, and this is from an Android zealot. :)

I am using ipad 2018 and i am satisfied with it. It can handle gaming, streaming, a bit couple of apps multitasking, and some of the productivity work. Still happy to use it.

So pretty much exactly what was expected, the more expensive pro version is faster, more responsive and has a better display and sound and connectivity.

No one will be scribbling like that on the iPad with a pencil unless they are an artist drawing and if you're an artist who is taking this seriously (not just a hobby) then the iPad Pro is already your main choice. However, for students who will be doing note-taking with the iPad, the 2018 model is more then sufficient for just note-taking and using this to annotate lecture slides etc.

One of the best comparison videos I’ve seen! When you go on the Apple website, they make it seem like you have to buy the pro if you’re doing anything but watching youtube or using social media, but unless you’re doing some heavy usage I don’t know that it’s even worth spending the extra money on the pro anymore (at least until it’s updated).

Alright now I've watched the video,I've decided to go for the iPad 2018 since its a lot less cheaper ,those tinny tiny differences ain't worth paying for IPad pro price.it's a surprise apple which is a profit obsessed company would release such a capable or near-able iPad pro tablet for us in such a great price .

I am glad to see there is a mid-range product between the iPad 2017 and Pro series for those who see it as a tablet, perhaps not a primary device. In my case, I absolutely recommend the Pro. I have the 10.5, 256 GB Cellular model in silver and after eight months of constant use, I still haven’t plateaued. I constantly find more uses in productivity, social media, business and graphic arts than I projected. It is USB-C compatible (charging and data transfer) vía the lightening port so I do interface with many different USB devices and OSX/WIN computers with that feature, often with a flash drive or to my external HDD drives. That in itself was a purchasing factor for me last summer. It’s speakers are amazing so it’s basically more than a tablet or laptop, I consider it a hybrid. I also have the 2017 Apple Pencil which I didn’t think I’d use as much as I do outside of ProCreate or Adobe - but I have discovered it’s fantastic for use in financial documents or on websites designed with tiny fields, the Apple Pencil is so adaptable and a precise tool. I personally haven’t tested other capacitive pencils. The issue of the lamination is beyond appearance, it is very advanced with the other performance features Aaron mentions and I’ll be honest - there’s nothing quite like it. The Pros are highly productive and precise in every way. I don’t regret the cost. I use only 1/5 of the storage, but I calculated high to allow for growth and photo/video editing needs. Also, I have an iPad 2 still operating at like-new capacity, in fact, I sometimes use it side by side for multitasking with my Pro or MacBook Air, mostly for streaming A/V and mirroring vid to my Apple TV 4’s. Much to my surprise, though it’s slow in processing speed, the iPad 2 still has uses and it’s battery yields at factory specs. The iPad 2 has 64GB of storage and is most impressive as a sidekick. With that said, speculating higher on the cost and performance of a Pro as I did with the 2 seems to be useful & cost effective for me, I’m getting short and long term value out of these amazing devices.🍎

If you were going to get the 2018 iPad, why not try to find a refurb iPad Pro 9.7? Specs are very close between them and you get a slightly better screen in the 9.7 Pro. The A10X, 4GB of RAM, laminated screen, 120Hz refresh are just a few of the reasons the iPad Pro is worth so much more. I’m typing on my iPad Pro 10.5 now and it is simply a fantastic device. The substantial performance jump between A10 and A10X and the 4GB of RAM ought to make the iPad Pro 10.5 last a couple years longer.

For everyone who is thinking about getting an Ipad for basic stuff like KZfaq and Games: Get the "normal" Ipad for half the price and buy with the extra Money yourself a Playstation! You got more of it. Of course the Pro is "better", dont listen to the Fanboys who are telling you that they would only buy the Pro because its the only real thing. They would buy the Pro PRO for 3000 bucks as well to just tell you its better. I have the normal Ipad and yes i can draw, play games and Multitask very easy. With the rest of the "saved up" money i bought myself a new PC Monitor, a Bluethooth Speaker and a pair of new Shoes.^_^

I just upgraded from the iPad Air to the iPad 9.7 iOS11. It works great indeed. No complaints at all.

9.7 is a proper tablet size. After that get a laptop.

Great comparison video... I'm a fashion designer and have been thinking about getting the new ipad with the apple pencil. After watching your video, I think I'm going to go for the ipad pro as I sketch a lot and think the screen would be better. I also edit heaps of videos so this really helped!

From someone who has had every iPhone and iPad ever made from day 1, the 6th gen iPad is the best power for money Apple has ever put out. I remember buying the first iPad and paying double. The Air and Air 2 both have dim screens and low audio. The 6th gen has no flaws by itself as an iPad. When people start comparing it to other iPads designed to be better (surprise) is the only time you’d consider a pro if you were just “looking for an iPad” in which case you’d probably overbuy your actual needs and waste money.

Both my parents have iPad minis . 1st and 4th gen . Since we’re not getting new iPad minis , what do I get them as replacements ? 2018 ipads ? iPad Pro 10.5s? They use their tech for years, and basically need it for fb,mails, Netflix, and all that basic stuff. I personally have been using the iPad Pro 10.5 and absolutely love it!

I have an 10.5 inch iPad Pro last year when I was 12 and I really love it. Like me, if you’re planning to use an iPad as a computer too, I think you should go for the iPad Pro because its functions are better and the response is super quick.

I just have one pet peeve. The Apple Pencil syncing by putting it in the charger. Why not just a small button that switches on and off on the top side of the Apple Pencil. And a charging dock vs putting it in the iPads.

Making for some seriously difficult choices. I am upgrading from the iPad Air since I'm so troubled by the lagginess and the limited multitasking support. I was planning on going 10.5 but the half the price of this is really attractive. Decisions decisions....

I just want to say that I got my 2018 iPad less than 6 months ago. However, I will be buying the 10.5 Pro. If you plan on using Apple Pencil a lot, get the pro. I use it all day every day. The latency is noticeable when journaling and writing long sentences. The air pocket is noticeable when drawing, especially when you have to start at the exact point you finished. It is not a big deal, but it is there and it is somewhat of a distraction. Cheers!

Hi, just want to know, is there any display difference between a regular IPAD and Pro IPAD in terms watching a Full HD Video (say KZfaq or any other media), since my purpose is just media consumption (watching videos).

I also noticed that the new iPad is more reflective, while the iPad Pro is so bright that reflectivity isn't as noticeable. But I'd like to know if the "lag" has been corrected; the 2017 iPad had significant lag when opening certain apps, like Home Videos. Still, this looks like a respectable upgrade.

4GB vs 2GB of Ram.. you and everyone just skim over it like it’s trivial. Apple knows 2GB is weak..very weak. Anyone multitasking and using more than one app (real world usage) at the same time will feel frustrated w the 2GB. My primary apps are KZfaq eBay Notes and Safari and w 2GB I can’t swap between them. When I swap back to KZfaq and eBay they open up like a fresh restart every time ..like they were not just running and not where I left off. 2GB is just too much waiting and wasting valuable time. 1/2 the price is tempting but I gotta go pro.

If you are on a tight budget or it is your first iPad then you should go with the 2018 iPad. As for those who relies heavily on their iPad to get their work done then you should definitely go for the iPad Pro. Although, the iPad Pro is at a higher price point, it’s definitely worth it as it comes with a better screen, less reflectivity, 120hz refresh rate and more. Most importantly, you don’t feel like typing on a thick sheet of glass like the 2018 iPad which feels really bad! Really disappointed about the fact that apple didn’t introduce the iPhone SE 2 in the March event...

I had the 2018 iPad and the pro went to 500$ a few days later so I exchanged it and for small price difference the Pro is amazing the speakers and display alone make it worth it. Also you are future proofing your self with the 4 gigs of ram. I noticed web pages reloading more often on the regular iPad.

Without the anti-reflective coating on the 2018 model, you can use the screen as a mirror to keep that hair in check :) I mean the glare on the standard iPad is quite apparent.. especially next to the pro

Even if you’re from an old iPad like the iPad Air 2 of 2014 you’ll feel like it’s a downgrade if you “upgrade” to the iPad 2018.

so for general use, why would anyone pick the pro over the base? If you just want netflix, couple of pics and youtube and maybe some class work, and note taking? would there be any reason to pick the pro apart form storage memory?

I've never owned a Apple product before, I would mainly be using it to run guitar amp apps like Jam up, Amplitude and Bias FX & Amp. I know some of these apps can run on Android but they all seem to work better on iOS and have better support than the Android versions. My question is should I get the new 2018 6th gen 9.7 iPad for $329 or the previous 2017 model 32GB Wi-Fi only for $250 New Opened Box on eBay with 1 year warranty? Thanks

I'm getting the iPad. I don't mind the camera I got my x for that and it'll go straight to the iPad. More for media consumption. And speakers will be great. If not I'll use my headphones like usual lol
