What happens when you toss a Hellcat and a Grand Cherokee in a blender? The 2018 Trackhawk. This Grand Cherokee is yet another demonstration that nobody does crazy like FCA. 707 horsepower? Check. 8.1 inches of ground clearance? Of course. Wider tires? Sure, but nothing crazy. Then slap on an 8-speed automatic out of a V12 Rolls Royce and a strengthened AWD system and you have a 5,400 pound SUV that can beat a Nissan GT-R at the stoplight races... As long as the Nissan doesn't engage launch control. 0-60 happens in 3.4 seconds followed by a 1/4 mile in 11.6 and all of this can be yours for $85,900. Assuming you can find a dealer willing to sell it for MSRP. Sounds crazy? You bet. But this crazy will cost you half of what Porsche would charge for an SUV that's slower. Now that's insane.

I have been selling CJDR vehicles for 17 years....EVERY SRT Jeep I had....I would have been lucky to get 13 on the highway...hahaha

Thank you Alex for yet another SPECTACULAR review! I've been following you for over a year and can't seem to stop enjoying the depth of conventional wisdom you keep conveying over and over again. It is so true that Trackhawk is more of a muscle vehicle than a performance machine. If only FCA is to fine-tune suspension and steering to match GLE AMG or Cayenne handling I would be willing to snatch one up in a heartbeat. In my mind that outweights the fractional 0-60 acceleration performance.

Yep! That is one BEAST of a crossover. Personally, I find this to be a very bold choice on FCA's end... With that to the side, I am seriously on the lookout for a Wrangler Pickup Hellcat! From one auto enthusiast to another, keep it up, Alex.

The Grand Cherokee is not a crossover, it is built on a truck chassis. It is a SUV SUV's are trucks, crossovers are tall cars.

I like the interior better than the the other Euro luxo SUV’s mentioned. Damn, Its beautiful and top shelf luxurious. Looking beyond the crazy performance, with that kind of crazy power and luxury, it’s a brave new world for Jeep. God bless the USA for finally making some world class vehicles again.

After going from a SRTGC to a Charger Hellcat. I can say with out a doubt I would much rather have a Trackhawk than a Hellcat. Putting power to the ground is great. And not having to worry about scraping the bumper on every pot hole would be amazing.

Why would anyone wish to turn the paddle shifters off? Is there a power play on that opt? ...I continue to get dizzy watching the lower left screen and the upper right screen in your driving test. The fender on the bottom screen connects so near precisely to the upper bumper/hood in the top screen. Consequently, if I watch the lower screen I find myself thinking you're driving over the center line or even preparing to turn. Kind of a fun thing to play with so I'm not saying its a bad thing, in fact it's rather fun...

It all comes down to tires, If you do things properly like pagani, And switch to tires that are appropriate for the location where you plan on using the vehicle you will see a significant improvement on all France those tires that the track hawk come with have to be OK at everything which means they're not great at anything in particular. Buy some good offroad tires, and some track work rubber. And this becomes an amazing collection of capabilities machine.

Bentley Bentaga is just as quick 0-60 with a top speed of 187. It can also also do a little off roading. But it is about $300,000.

@AlexOnAutos- Good and solid review. Handling prowess has never been a Jeep hallmark. And it is a great thing, because I have never seen a Turbo S Cayenne or GLE 63 on a track circuit. This thing is about power, speed, and badassery. The 6.2 S/C Hemi has proven reliable(I own a 2015 Hellcat, so I have first hand knowledge) and the ZF 8HP90 is bulletproof. Oh, and @ $100G all in, it is a relative bargain. The Germans will command $30-60K more for a slower vehicle with a semi-nicer interior. I would skip the rear-seat entertainment and other frivolous options to reduce weight and price, but at the end of the day, this thing is in a league all it's own. You are getting a vehicle that costs less than a Range Rover Sport SVR, X5 50i, GLE 400(loaded models), and many others, yet it will blow the doors off of them...and retain way better value over time.

HellKitty 101 ... yeap, I like the Trackhawk as well. I cross shopped this with the Range Rover Sport SVR but long-term maintenance has me leaning towards the Jeep. I have the Challenger HC also, but the Jeep's traction seals the deal

I would like to see who would pick that Grand Cherokee for a porche cayenne or BMX x5 M, cars its not just a 0 to 60, but a well combination of handling, brake system , cabin noise, design and material, and all that put well together is what bring a price in a car, not just 0 to 60. dont you think?

First of all, it's faster than both those cars. Second of all, it's cheaper than both those cars. Last but not least, not everyone wants a BMW or Porsche. The fact this car is a sleeper is part of the appeal for some.

hahaha, gran Cherokee, I cant believe what you said nobody wants a Porsche or BMW, gran cherokee is good only to go to homedepot and load the cherokee full of wood and then be careful , drive safe because cherokee has a reputation of really bad stability control system, far from carving canon drive ability like porsche or the other german cars, think again when you talk about cars, cherokee with a huge engine still need to be use for the woods and mud

It is not a “crossover”. It was one of the original SUVs. Explorer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner etc. That is an incorrect classification. See where the Grand Cherokee sits in the rest of their lineup.
