Sorry for not replying for a while. This is on Highway 9 heading from (about) the 236 and 9 split towards Highway 35 (Skyline blvd).

Those pops are delicious, but I wish that the camera / mic didn't pick up the mount vibration from the stiff ride. Thanks for sharing this drive. [Edit: just saw the disclaimer at the beginning; my first run through was a listen only.]

Regular Guy Garage Can't stand the current trend for programmed, manufactured exhaust pops. Right up there with aftermarket squawking blow off valves.

I like the pops. They aren't fake though. That's the motor activating DFSO, and now manufacturers are playing with the timing to let the noise that's already happening out of the cylinders, and into the exhaust.

Great video, as a fellow auto journalist I drove the E63 S Sedan on the track at Monticello back in October. The car was a beast. Make mine a wagon. If you think this car is good, the AMG GT R is even better

I believe they make stereo mics the size of a clip on lav mic with extra long cables (3.5mm) which you can plug into the GoPro via a adapter. Just tape the mic to the bumper and run the cable thru the trunk/back seats to gopro. Just a suggestion. These noise videos are awesome.

I can't remember who said it, but years ago I remember someone saying that the highest net worth people weren't guys that owned Ferraris or Lamborghinis etc, but guys who owned AMG E-class wagons. I always found that statistic fascinating.

Yes. This works up to about 50 mph. Beyond that, nothing works, so in this longer format, you need to have the camera inside the car.

that programmed pop after u let off is annoying. it never changes, natural pops are never the same twice unless you get one pop at certain rpm (like some motorcycle)

While the car is clearly able to deal with roads like this, I'd say it would be a maintenance nightmare if it gets driven like this all the time. Brakes and tyres suffer with this much car leaning on them all the time.

Yeah, kinda. The W211 E55/63 AMG look so damn timeless and classy. Total sleeper, until you hear the whine of the 55's K O M P R E S S O R. But, ask 100 people and quite a lot of them will say that even the current AMG's look bland so there's a trend to make cars that were used to look normal even more aggressive, and Merc is sometimes trying too hard.
