No, it means for the first ten minutes of the game, Michigan had zero good plays on either side of the ball.

I like the pass rush package they used with Winovich, Dwumfour, Paye, and Uche thats some serious speed. I think gary should rest this next game and get as healthy as possible for the gauntlet the team will face after maryland

Harbaugh's teams tend to struggle on the road but the conservative play calling has got to get better

Conservative play calling is called for in a close game, especially when the officials are lopsided. The last thing that’s needed (except by impatient fans) is overly aggressive plays that either don’t work, and/or result in turnovers. Besides, Harbaugh opened it up a few times and hit, but several other times Patterson and/or the WR/TE didn’t execute. Too many fans only see the plays that suit their narrative - in this case, it’s conservative play calling - and ignore plays that don’t suit their gripe. Fans seem to think every play is designed to score a TD. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Most plays are set-up plays, and are designed to force the defenders to over commit and exploited. How often have we seen those plays work, brilliantly, only to see it called back or fail for lack of execution.

This was a stressful game. The coaches need to watch this film and make major adjustments to their play calling. Th last touchdown drive they ran up the middle on first down for 1 yard everytime just to name some of the notable miscues. It puts the offense and Patterson in less than ideal situations and as a defense their is very little to worry about with this team, no surprises, no gimmicks nothing.

Gary McMichael it’s so frustrating to watch. Like they have such dynamic players like Ambry, people’s Jones, Bell, and Collins. The offense used peppers in 2016 as a spark plug to give defenses different looks and as a decoy to create plays. They do nothing now to create plays. They constantly put Patterson in less than ideal situations. Patterson is a dual threat guy and they rarely use his ability to run

I agree, getting so frustrated when the ran literally the same run play on first downs on that drive. The o-coordinator needs to pull his head from his rear end and get a little more creative with the talent that they have.

Yeah that's when we had coaches like Jedd Fisch who is well skilled in things like that . Pep Hamilton and Jim McElwain both are inferior offensive Minds and add Jim Harbaugh to the mix and you get a off rhythm flow of play calling from the our play callers.

Yeah, I can't agree with the play calling, but what I can say is we aren't the only team who does it. Penn state and Ohio state did the same, I just wish we would change it up, keep them guessing, and also, run zone when teams do slants

For me this,was a huge win for Meeechigan. It showed me that they are for real. Last year they would have lost this game. They are so much better this,year. This,win changed their season.

I had a friend of mine by the name of Orlando state that this team still has no mental toughness. Well I say of all the Big Ten teams they had the toughest schedule by far. Who else played 5 top 25 teams this year for that matter who played 3 in a row at home and away and destroyed them. Answer:no one. They were 2 quarters away from a potential undefeated season. So if you think/ believe they aren't mentally tough you are wrong. For those who are saying Harbaugh should go.....I say be quiet. Who will you get. He's been here 4 years and has done more for this team in a shorter time than Carr, Rich Rod and Hoke. So please spare me the waa, waa comments. Either support this coaching staff and team or be quiet. By the way Harbaugh fired the current OC after the xhio state game. So he's looking for the right pieces to fit the puzzle. Thankyou Coach Harbaugh and team. Go Blue.

maizeman90 you would’ve thought Harbaugh would’ve atleast thrown out some of his play book against notre dame but for some reason it was super weak calls and lost. And would ya know it notre dame was giving it there all holding nothing back they wanted that win more than us. Shea almost carried are team to a victory there but fumbled it

Miller TimeEast Harbaugh doesn’t choose the plays they run. It’s the Offensive Coordinator that sits up in the box and tells Harbaugh which plays to tell his offense to run. That’s why all the coaches wear head sets.

I like the d line even without Gary this game. I think Gary has been having injury struggles all season just based on his lack of production and just kind of sluggishness getting off the line for a player of his skill and talent, the double teams also haven’t helped his production either

this was the same situation as when we played msu last year. if we have patterson last year we win that game in the second half. good to see michigan finish out a game after giving so many away late last year

Nobody is considering that NW had a bye week and 2 full weeks to prepare for what Michigan does. I'm not surprised that this game was close.

UM has been kicking NW's butt so long, they must've thought it was a cakewalk, they need to teach these kids not to sleep on any team, we almost lost another one

Michigan can't have a half like that again, especially not against Mich St, Wisconsin and Penn St coming up. With our defense we can hang with anyone. We just need to keep increasing the explosive down the field plays. Collins, DPJ, Gentry...We have all the weapons for a dangerous passing game.

Every first down it was a run up the middle with higdon and every second down was second and 9 because of it.

Randy Randerson really the only creative offensive play call run the whole game was the end around to peoples Jones. They faked giving the ball to Ambry Thomas and gave it to peoples Jones. Great set to have on tape because u can give it to Ambry Thomas or higdon next time and it might spring another big play that way.

Shea is the X-factor..N'Western came to play for 4 qtrs and Michigan only came to play for 2..with last years Qbs, we lose this game. Shea's 4th qtr passing n running for 1st downs was the difference n saved our asses

We will cause at that point what else will UM have to lose. UM will 2 or more loses by the time we get to OSU. At that point Michigan will be pulling out all the stops. I still think we lose either way. I hope they prove me wrong.

School Craft you clearly know nothing about football play calling. So many in here displaying their ignorance. This isn’t Madden for PlayStation. Michigan came out intent upon breaking tendency knowing Fitz was not going to let Michigan run. How’d that work? The very reason we were down was due to the play calling in the first couple of series. All you dipshits calling out play calling holler for more aggressive plays, then whine when they don’t come off, or cause turnovers. Even the commentators said Michigan began to click on offense when they started running Higdon. The conservative plays set up the big plays, the big runs and passes. Unfortunately, Patterson missed a few, there were some drops and phantom calls. Bottom line, Harbaugh called the game he needed to win, maybe not the game you and other fans want, but frankly you know fuck all so your opinion is worthless.
