Dear Mr. Marshall I saw your interview at the end of a fly in doco thing...You mentioned why you named your Mosquito after your mum ..and you told a bit of your history in chopper's. I was greatly inspired. Thank You. I'm 60 . I live in Australia. Flown alot of things since I was young but Wow am I hooked on Helicopters now... I'm on the verge of getting a Mosquito.... just my wife standing in the way at the moment 🤣. Doing lessons in a R22 in the meantime... I really respect the way you often answer all the comments people ask on your videos. Anyway all the best and stay safe Sir. Happy Flying.

Why dont you have the N numbers on the tail boom? Isn’t that a FAA required placement location?
@MauiFlyGuy4 жыл бұрын
No it is not. If and when you build an aircraft, there will be a lot of reading you need to do to comply with all FAA regulations as far as signage, labeling, placards, etc. After you think you are finished an FAA DAR must inspect the aircraft for airworthiness along with all of the items I listed above. If it is not right the aircraft fails and you must make changes so the craft complies. The N# lettering must be a certain height and spacing.

How much did this thing cost you (including shipping, and any cost for building) also how do you transport it a trailer?
@MauiFlyGuy6 жыл бұрын
When people ask about price I tell them to go to the Mosquito website if they are serious. You have to do research. There are distributors in the US, Canada, and France.
@bonjour14166 жыл бұрын
J. Michael Marshall I know about base prices I was just wondering about extra costs on top of that. I’m assuming 50,000 for everything? The XE is 44,000 prebuilt or 38 as a kit but I was wondering about fuel and maintenance things like that also transportation.
@MauiFlyGuy6 жыл бұрын
I do my own maintenance. After my build I got my repairman's certificate. I built at the factory so no shipping for the kit. You should check out the Mosquito Forum!
@clemsondriver92146 жыл бұрын
Bon Jour i'm wondering the same thing. I used to load helos both skid and wheel types onto C-5's and C17's when i was in the military so maybe something similar to that might work. Wheel adapters on the skids to get it to roll. We had guys on the tail boom raising it up/down which would in turn lift the front part of the skid up/down so it would go up the ramp. Chains or in the case of the mosquito nylon straps around the skid tubing, and then a winch that can bring the mosquito onto the trailer via ramps. Mosquito weighs around 600-700lbs depending on if you have fuel in it or not. Secure the mosquito to the trailer floor using forward and aft nylon ratchet straps, secure the rotors with straps and maybe put a tarp on the cockpit so it doesnt get chipped as you drive it around.
@clemsondriver92146 жыл бұрын
Only thing that i would probably check with the manufacturer is if the tail boom can support one person lifting it up/lowering it so you can get it up a ramp. And if the skids can support straps/chains so that you can winch it up using those. Heck if you get with the manufacturer they can probably give you loading instructions on the thing.

Do you have to have a tail or “N” number even on an experimental aircraft???

@DirkHav2 жыл бұрын
@@raymond3803 I did not knew there was a 3 cylinder . I have put my plan for the Mosquito in the frig. In Belgium it isn't allowed under ultralight regulations. The US is so much better for having fun, nicer bigger, stretched, no neighbours complaining. In Belgium we live to close to each other and people are intolerant. They call the police for for the least inconvenience.

What made you choose the mosquito over the helicycle?
@MauiFlyGuy5 жыл бұрын
First thing, I am not rich. I looked at many things when I was hoping to get a helicopter: fuel consumption, where it will be kept, maintenance schedule, etc. So since a turbine engine drinks 9 mph vs. 6 gah, the 285 fits in my garage so no expensive hanger fees, and as far as maintenance I am completely qualified to work on the 285 engine and not a turbine saving me about $85 per hour. Getting an aircraft is much more than having a cool machine. There is a lot of responsibility to having one including being able to afford it so you can enjoy it.
@codmott2865 жыл бұрын
@@MauiFlyGuy Thanks for the response. I compare this to the helicycle because they both cost the same at roughly 50k and was wondering if matters like parts/engine availability were a consideration or if it was purely just a comfort thing, which style you like.
@codmott2865 жыл бұрын
@@MauiFlyGuy I'm curious, whats the warm up process like in the 285? How long before you are airborne? Do you have cycle the temps on the engine before takeoff? Or do you just slowly run up to full power and once the temps have peaked you are ready to go?
@MauiFlyGuy5 жыл бұрын
@@codmott286 I guess you are speaking of helps already built. The T62-T2 turbine alone costs 20K. If you are serious go to the Mosquito Forum for information! See ya.
