I was once again electrified. That's why my hair is standing on end.
Yes, why should an electric car have to show everyone how different it is. And weird. And futuristic. And how you have to drive around with your head covered with a bag.
The second generation Leaf is cool. Yes, it lets you know it doesn't have emissions while running but that's it.
With the top equipment level there's a few things in the car you might not expect in other electric vehicles. Like leather. And heated seats.

Title says '2019 Nissan Leaf review' but the 2019 Leaf (62kWh version) isn't out yet for you to review. You're reviewing the 2018 (40kWh version).

The car is the 2nd biggest investment people make. They want it to last as long as possible. Nissan not adding a cooling system for the battery causes massive battery degradation making the car almost worthless in 3 to 4 years.
@okifurbi
@okifurbi 5 жыл бұрын
How is that? Most experts say the battery will last more than 10 years and Nissan guarantees them for 8 years or 100k km.

The title of this video is quite misleading. You drove a leaf and mentioned the zoe when it suited to make some point rather than driving both and giving a proper appraisal. You clearly have a biased view.

Of course I do. I tested both, just watch the Zoe review on the channel.

This is more of a comparison with the Renault Zoe and some of the things I haven't mentioned in my original review: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qNuFl9WVmLWVgXU.html

Charge it every night , and that's it !!?? Where are you going to charge? Spend another few hours of your day babysitting your car? Or does the house with driveway that always allows you to park in front of your house come included with the option list? I guess it isn't for people living in an apartment building then or is the trunk filled with the largest extension cable .... in the world? I guess those remarks go for every electric car ... I rode the motorised predecessor of the Nissan Leaf as a replacement vehicle...it was 1 year old and had around 12.000km on the dial. I distinctly remember the horrible rambling of every bit of plastic that was luckily covered by the engine noise...which isn't there in this car....the horror. I'm also glad you mentioned the extra cost that comes with altering your electricity net at home to accommodate the current drawn by electric cars. Even my friends hybrid trips his main switch if he dares to fire up a kitchen appliance at the same time. Next to performance (100m dash, not the marathon) I am still to find anything positive about electric cars that outweigh the many disadvantages. Disadvantages in practicality and for the environment. I am not a fan of this end 19th century technology. This image sums up one part of the reality everyone is denying: 78.media.tumblr.com/ee09c3b1b116346e3746396651f4b954/tumblr_p07c1fDnrJ1slzegfo1_1280.jpg Honest video though and good effort on pointing out the better things about the car.

Haha, that image sums it up well. That's why I said "no emissions while running" instead of just "no emissions". Also, yeah, I can not imagine having an electric car unless you have your own garage for it with a mains. I guess in the future they might start making apartment blocks with parking spaces that include charge stations. Also extension cords are not allowed to be used with charging electric cars due to the high currents involved (and don't even think of using one of those rolled-up extension cords which will create a lot of induction and might even melt the cables or cause a fire). To be honest the battery technology is (and has pretty much always been) the thing holding electric cars back, if we ignore the required electrical infrastructure and power plants. Once they put in some sort of better super-capacitors that can hold more than the batteries today and get charge in a matter of minutes, then we're talking!

@@Pit-Stop What annoys me most is the gigantic amount of misinformation that is spread around this phenomena. 1. Yes, the recycling of batteries is a dirty and timely process that brings a lot of pollution with it. (pyrolysis, grinding, ... ) 2. Yes, mining the Lithium is dangerous, bad for the environment and is done by exploitation of people. (and it makes no difference if you combine it with cobalt, aluminium, copper, ...) 3. Yes, 60% of electricity in European countries is still produced by burning fossil fuels. (not everyone has gheisers or dams or room to put up solar or wind parks) 4. Yes, if you transport electricity from the power plant to your car, you loose electricity. The further the charger, the bigger the loss. 5. No, the advertised ranges aren't accurate. You don't drive indoor with no wind resistance, traffic, no inclines, a constant speed, ... so you will not get the advertised result. 6. What happens if you drive a screwdriver through your cellphones battery? Now imagine you sitting on top of a huge amount of those batteries and get into a car crash. 7. When I have to go to the garage, 9/10 issues is an electric issue...guess now it will be 10/10? 8. ... I can go on for days...but won't...so sorry for the rant :)

Dries Creve Let me guess - you’re a glass half empty kind of guy. It’s like you think mining oil is not equally as bad for the environment but on a much larger scale than lithium. Does Exxon Valdez or Shell ring a bell? Question - when we transition to 80% renewables will you be happy then? Challenge: go and drive a decent EV and come back and tell us if you still feel the same way about EVs. You sure you’re not one of those grumpy old fellas from Sesame Street?

@@mondotv4216 Actually I'm a realist. I do believe we need to do things differently, but how we are doing it is insane. It has nothing to do with the environment. If 80% of the people in my country would change to EV's ... let alone of they can afford it (The price I would need to put down to buy a car to simply get me to work and back home, let alone visit customers, on 1 charge is +100k)... it would more then double the ecological footprint of my country. You compare only the ecological footprint of winning oil. Take the wage the ppl who work in that business, on a rig,... and the ones that mine lithium.... or is exploitation not an important factor? Guess you only drink fairtrade coffee as well I suppose? If we want to change the ecological footprint there are far more interesting field we need to change things in stead of the 2%we are trying to change now... and fail in doing so. The electric car is over a hundred years old... we were not ready then and we aren't ready now.

Dries Creve So what - you don’t use electricity at you’re house? You’re not a realist. You’re someone who looks for reasons not to do something rather than look for ways to make things work. Mass produced electric cars are a relatively new phenomenon and as such there is still a high entry price. Partly because their popularity exceeds supply. But that will change and the current situation will turn on its head. There’s a tipping point with technology - the first mobile phones were ten times the price of current models and did 100 times less. Pretty soon EVs will be cheaper than ICE vehicles. There already better by nearly every metric except for range and with new technology that is changing. Costwise they are already almost break even now over 6 or so years, depending on where you live and the price of electricity compared to diesel and petrol. Yes lithium can be mined in countries where workers are exploited, but so can oil and you’re still driving an ICE. Australia has some of the largest reserves and last time I checked we were pretty good. Currently they mine more lithium for laptops and mobile phones than they do for EVs. Do you boycott them because the batteries might have come from exploited workers? I’m still wondering if you’ll accept the challenge and go out and test drive an iPace or a Tesla and tell me if you still think these are... what was it you said “19th century technology”.
