Thanks for your review of the black vernissage tomato. I received it free with a previous order and now I will plant. Nice to have a helper in the garden, my little helper just joined the Airforce last week, miss those days.

I never noticed that little nodule before, lol! I usually just yank it off, twist it off, or use scissors. Thanks for teaching me something new. :) Nice taste test.

I too received the Black Vernissage seeds as a part of a BC order. I just got around to planting them this year, and I’m just about to go out and harvest my first ones. 😊

I didn't know how to pick a tomato. I did the same as the little guy. Now I know the correct way. Wow, we both learned. I get many of my seeds from baker creek also. :-)

I grow san marzanos every year but since I grow it in pots, BER is a constant problem, best tasting big tomato for me are the Brandywines, this year I am growing a black Brandywine--can't wait but I will have to because here in Tacoma it takes a long time for tomatoes to set fruit and ripen.

The SM are monsters! I can see how BER is an issue when growing them in a pot. They need a lot of goodies from the soil to keep up. We had several with BER. I've been curious about the black Brandywine. Please update us when you get a taste :D

Try Isis Candy. It is the best I grew this year and is so sweet and full of flavor. It's a light orange and bigger than a cherry.

Thanks. It was pretty bad today. Hottest we've experience (109F). Some of my squash vines were toast (literally.) The tomatoes are ok. Going to see how the watermelon are in the morning.
