The 2018 model year Volkswagen Tiguan was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show being specially engineered to meet the needs of American customers. As with the Atlas, the new Tiguan Allspace is based on Volkswagen's Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) architecture. Compared with the current model, the new Tiguan has far more interior space; at 185.2 inches long, the 2018 model is a stunning 10.7 inches longer than the current version and has up to 57 percent more cargo capacity. The 109.9-inch wheelbase-4.4 inches longer than the new Tiguan sold in Europe-provides both sliding second-row seats and an optional third row.
This car has become in Euro NCAP test 86% for adult occupant, 80% for child occupant, 68% for pedestrian and 68% for safety assist in security area. All in all this car got 5 stars for security.

So, I've noticed that there is absolutely zero consistency in VW's Tiguan line. Specifically looking solely at the 2019 VW Tiguan SEL Premium, R-Line, w/ 4Motion: 1) Some Tiguan's have the round-type airbag/horn bumper in the center of the steering wheel with paddle shifters, where others have the t-type airbag/horn bumper in the center of the steering wheel. 2) Some Tiguan's have a slowly illuminating Blind Sport Monitor Indicator Light built into the side view mirrors (NOT the mirror itself, but the plastic casing) -- closest to the driver and passenger, and some do not. 3) Some Tiguan's have Puddle Lights built either into the bottom of the sideview mirrors or the bottom of the front doors, and some do not. 4) Some Tiguan's have a LED compass built into the auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and some do not. 5) Some Tiguan's have a pocket built into the center of the dash, where some have a speaker. 6) Some Tiguan's have pockets built into the back of the 1st row seats, and some do not. 7) Some Tiguan's have an illuminated Door Sill Plate, some do not. 8) Some Tiguan's have buttons for temperature control, fan speed, and heated seat controls for the 2nd row that passengers in the second row can control -- right underneath the vents, and some do not. 9) Some Tiguan's 2nd row seats can recline, some cannot. 10) Some Tiguan's have a 2nd row pocket/drink holder to the bottom of the passenger seat (NOT the door pocket), and some do not. 11) Some Tiguan's have tinted privacy glass, and some do not. 12) Some Tiguan's have garage door buttons, and some do not. May I ask what's the deal with all the inconsistencies? Is it a regional difference? Manufacturing plant difference? Do you have to specifically ask for these things and special order your Tiguan this way? Looking for some insight and answers please.

I can not say with 100% certainty what´s reason for that so i have I will try to get that informations from people that know such things. In my view that´s all connected with interest of individual car manufacturers to put some extra options in cars so they on this way can be more competitive on specific market. Lucijano.

Got a Volks since 2008 it becomes more and more cheap but the price goes up..... the Tiguan 2020 is a joke there a huge amount of problems for a new car...... never buy a volks again and all have the same opinions they start loosing a lot of consumers in North America also a huge mistake to move production in Mexico...... I prefer a BM Mercedes Volvo with no options than Tiguan Highline or Rline. I have a Tiguan 2020 Highline worst car ever so pissed I didn’t get the Volvo XC40

North American version sucks, long version is ugly, no dsg, weak with different engine. If they would sell that I would buy it in a heart beat, also R should have golf r engine.

I have this car. I bought it in March and now the LWB version from US(Mexico) is also for sale in Australia. I am happy that mine is made in Wolfsberg, Germany instead of Mexico but extra space would have been nice. It's only $3,000 for the bigger car. It's worth every cent.

Agreed. I can't stand the 180hp engine. Superbly underpowered! Should have at least 250 in the R line, perhaps 300. Maybe they think they'd lose out on Audi buyers. I don't think that'll happen. No one will cross shop them. People who buy the Golf R would not look at an S3. They want VW, not Audi. Same with this car. Give the R the power it deserves, not just an appearance pkg.
