SSM 49264 - 2019-2020 Ranger - Climate Control Temperature Will Not Adjust With Clicking/Snapping Noise From The Dash - Built On Or Before 30-Jul-2020
Some 2019-2020 Ranger vehicles built on or before 30-Jul-2020 may experience poor and/or no temperature change when the temperature is adjusted in the climate control system. There may also be a clicking/snapping noise from behind the instrument panel. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1082 and/or B1081 may also be retrieved from the front controls interface module (FCIM). This may be due to an issue with the blend door and its controls. To avoid repeat repairs, it is recommended to replace the climate control housing assembly (service base part# 18478)

Thank you for making this video. I have a 2019 lariat dual climate doing the exact same thing. I was also dreading the dealer pulling the entire dash board. I'm definitely going to try this first. I got two trouble codes also B1081-07 Left temperature damper motor - mechanical failure (current code) and B1081-13 Left temperature damper motor - circuit open (history code) I really hope it's this motor/module and not the door inside the HVAC assembly.

Friend just got this diagnosis and is looking at $3k’ish from the dealer… for a known issue!! This might just work

Problem is the blend door assembly has a warped blend door that causes the blend door actuator module to fail. So you did not fix the problem, and your actuator will break again. This is why the actual correct fix is at the dealership getting the whole assembly replaced.

Thank you for the video, my 2020 Ford Ranger is having problems with this i think. It was 30 degrees outside and it was still blowing hot air.... I just hope this is the key

Did you replace the actuator with a new one, and did that fix the problem you were having.

did you have to do any programing or resetting after replacing it? I replaced it and still have the problem

Did you reset the damper position from the FCIM? Has the issue returned?

I found that these modules have too much grease and in warm weather the grease gets on the contacts and the actuator doesn't function properly if you take it apart and clean the contacts with electric contact cleaner they work again.

Just replaced mine this evening. I ordered a new one, but the old was covered in grease. I’ll keep the old one and do what you suggested. Spare part for the next time.

I opened the actuator and bent the contacts a little, one wasn't contacting properly. Seems to be working so far. This video might help. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/otF0atykmqmXgIk.html
