FYI, It probably won't make a big difference but the correct oil capacity is 5.49 quarts. Good video, thanks

It's actually 6 quarts to the fill line with a new oil filter

There is an easy way to change the oil on Audi cars. Actually, the dealers do it like this, and you don't need to throw yourself under the car. Buy an Oil Extractor machine. It will pull out all the oil from the top using the hole of the dipstick lever.

Thank you, I actually have one. They are good to use but not every time. You won't be able to get out all the shavings and old oil. Every 2nd or 3rd time it's good to drain from the bottom. I used to use one on my old a5 because it had a shield on the bottom that was a pain to remove but the Q3 doesn't have one

Agree. For a bunch of lux cars that's the only way their entire life they get oil changed (& at dealerships). Also, thousands of boats only ever get their oil changed via extraction as it's the only way w/out taking the engine out of the hull.... never seen an issue with metal shavings collected & stacking up over time. If you extract the oil when it's up to operating temp, particles will be suspended in the oil & sucked right out.

Why not use an Oil Extractor?
@teejaylc
@teejaylc 2 ай бұрын
You can, and I have one. It's not recommended everytime because an extractor isn't going to get everything out. It's a very useful tool though

@@teejaylc Wouldn't stuff that you don't get out with an extractor eventually get trapped in the oil filter you remove with each change? So what might be missed on change 1 is captured and removed in change 2, 3, 4, etc.. so that over time the percentage missed by the extractor eventually gets removed by the filter capturing it?

That would make sense. Sometimes all the oil isn't extracted because the tube doesn't go low enough. That can be a difference of a quart. If your using an oil extractor, I think the best thing to do would be extract it all, then jack up and remove the rain plug to see if you are able to get it all. If that's the case, then you should be ok using the extractor forwards on. But if a quart or so is left. I would use the extractor maybe 2 oil changes in a row, then drain from the pan on the 3rd and so on. Better safe than sorry but it's all a judgement call and what you feel comfortable doing with your vehicle.

@@teejaylc they made it difficult especially in winter time. If someone tries he/she might start turning but that is wrong. if you turn u might end up with twisting and breaking dipstick, so yes. just try more pulling out

So Porsche has the same oil drain plug but requires you to replace it every oil change do you know if Audi is the same

Not sure what the dealer/manufacturer recommends but I can tell you I have changed the oil 4 times on this car and cracked the plug 3 times because it's plastic so I highly recommend getting a new one EVERY time
