As it turns out, there's such a thing as a car that's too good. The 2019 Audi RS5 Sportback is one such car, and its valedictorian antics are almost frustrating in their pitch-perfect execution.
The 2.9-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 puts out 444 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, and the eight-speed automatic transmission shifts quickly. Even though the $3,350 Dynamic package adds a sportier, louder exhaust system, it's still quiet enough to sneak out of the neighborhood on a morning drive.
Second-row comfort is the tops, with ample headroom and legroom for a six-foot-tall passenger behind an equally tall driver. The body doesn't mess with visibility, either, offering plenty in every direction. The cargo space is fantastic, its hatchback offering depth and height that competitors like the Mercedes-AMG C63 and BMW M3 cannot.

+Jonathan Garcia They simply do not sound as good. There is no point pretending they sound as good. The RS5 is not a real sports car it is a GT car. V6 engines are fine in lightweight sports cars that are really fast and that no body ever will get near the limits on a public road and can only really experience them on a track. The old V8 RS5 had an amazing engine with a Quattro drive system. The new car is just a plain boring very fast car with nothing to really make it special. The old engine sounded special.

@@StanLinDDS Low residual + high money factor = poor Audi leases. RS5 has around a 52% residual with over a .002 MF. I got an X5 recently for a 58% residual and a .00165 MF. That MF has actually dropped to .00145 so leases are even better at BMW.

@@gregs8685 range anxiety is a lot less than gas cars in most cases. Since teslas have 310+ mile range and 370 in the model s now for 99% of normal driving its more than enough. Range anxiety is in petrol cars why? Imagine u forgot to fill up at night and you have to get to work and you woke up late. U have to speed to a gas station or pray you have enough to get to work. Easy way to explain it is imagine if you could not charge your cellphone at home. You would have to go to a charging station outside. Not conventional is it. As long as you remember to plug in when you need it for most people its generally every 3 or 4 days with normal use it becomes a non issue. You can always wake upto a full battery quite genius really

I have no idea what you're talking about. German automakers inflate their residuals. This often makes leasing cheaper than than purchasing. Also, after 3 years, you'll only have 1 year left on your warranty and will be paying out of pocket for all repairs and maintenance after that.
@Zhiloreznik
@Zhiloreznik 4 жыл бұрын
emdec55 Well at least in UK with Audi you have to pay for all of the extra options during the lease agreement. So if car is 70k and 20k in options they will calculate the standard 70k lease agreement plus all 20k of options on top. PS: I don’t lease.
@AkioWasRight
@AkioWasRight 4 жыл бұрын
@@Zhiloreznik I have no clue how leasing works in the UK, and what you said makes no sense at all. With leasing in the US, it's a percentage of the total price of the car. If you, say, have a lease with 60% residual after 36 months, a $70,000 car would cost ~$777 per month. If you add $20,000 in options to the car, it will still be the same percentage adjusted, and your payment would $1,000 per month for a $90,000 car. You don't add $20,000 in options on top of the lease agreement. If that's the case, you people are being screwed.

The RS5 sportback would honestly be the perfect car if it weren't so expensive. For the starting price of one, you could get a lightly used RS7. I would rather get a Model S for 100k that could smoke the RS5 or a Stinger GT2 (its closest rival?) that is almost as fast for literally half the price.
