Hey Guys. I have never owned a boat and had narrowed my choice down to this boat.Thank you so much for this review. I am utterly shocked at the lack of quality and workmanship. Your review was very honest and obviously you are rightfully frustrated. the “power wedge”is a joke and appears dangerous. Prices up here in Canada are even higher. Terrible value proposition after seeing your video. Like most boat manufacturers, the Marketing is slick though. Great job and seriously massive thank you for sharing this info.

After spending 3 summers and over 500 hours in a 2019 t22 I can say that it has been the best boat I've used. The wakeboard wake is one of my favorites and is extremely easy to set up. The surf wave is also easy to dial. The "power wedge" you refer to is not in-fact the power wedge. You have the manual wedge. A lot of your issues seem to be user error or just nitpicking.

The complaint about the rear hatch…there’s a cut out about 6” in from the rear seat that is made for your hand to slip between the cushions and pull it open. It’s clearly visible when it’s open.

Most complaints listed here are options not chosen on the boat.

You guys have the manual auto-set wedge, not the power wedge. They are two completely different wedge systems. Go look on Malibus website and check it out yourself. As for the seat swivel, the latches for the tower, and not having front speakers or tower speakers, those are optional features and do come on the boat when the dealership orders the boat. Just looking at yalls boat it looks like the dealership ordered the boat with the most basic options you could get. So all the features that you said were taking away on the newer models do exist and they did not get rid of them. Also for the front ballast bag, it goes underneath the seats not on top. It should be a U-shaped bag to go around the batteries. That is what mine is and plenty of other peoples axis's that I know. Im not trying to rude but check out your information before you assume something. As for the other problems y'all had go wrong, that is wrong for Malibu and your dealer to not fix them. I have also lost many cupholders going down the road before too. The quality of Malibu/Axis has definitely gone down the past couple of years.

The cushions are a little crappy. However, the rest of the issues should have been taken care of by the dealer or just plain user error.

You paid 80k for a previous year model at the time. Ill give you the exterior details need to be fixed but some others you should do more research. I just purchased an axis a24 and did my research on the difference models. The cheaper models you get what you pay for. Alot of the things your pointing out are options I chose when building the boat. I will also say that with an outboard motor my 4 year old nephew understood not to put his feet by the prop. Teach your kids to keep their feet away from the exhaust pipe.

What years of axis a22 do you recommend buying for the used market?

What economy boat are you looking at next? Thinking the supreme 211 or the MasterCraft nxt22

As far as the wedge goes, there is a manual wedge and power wedge option. You obviously have the manual wedge. I completely agree that the attention to detail is lacking. I was thinking about buying one, but not after seeing this. Thanks for the review.

Frustration? I'd say bitter. You guys are pathetic. I assume that you are a father son combo which makes it even more sad. This type of review I would expect from a millennial, but cmon dad. You bought off on the "wussification of America" philosophy. I could rip apart everything you said except the exterior moulding detail. Even that, I question if that was self induced. You should have paid closer attention to your build order. It is spelled out clearly what you get when you sign on the bottom line. Oh, but that the dealer fault. Sad. Sorry to sound mean, but cmon man, you guys look like patriots, but certainly don't act like it.

Sounds like you guys just have a bad dealer.
