These 299's are my favorite... We have a Fleet of 50+ 299's from 2014-18.. These are the only skid steer that can lift our Timber Mats..

A little fun fact, the engines in the CAT track loaders like this are made by Kubota. The engine is this machine is actually a Kubota V3800. Which is the same engine used in the SVL95-2S. Same with the smaller CAT machines with the 3.3L, it's the Kubota V3307 engine. If you look on the engine it will say Made in Japan.

Can you ADD a winch to the 299 so you can pull large logs out of the woods and then drag them to a staging area where they can loaded and hauled to the mill for processing ???
@turnerloggingllc

You can, but they honestly won't pull very well. They just aren't made for dragging large logs. Thank you for watching

They are built cheap. At 1000-1500 hrs you will have drive motor sensor issues as well as electrical glitches. The loader sensor will also drive you nuts. Lots of electrical cheapness in them. They look good on paper, but a Deere 333 or Takeuchi TV12V2 will do circles around them. Trust me, I was a Cat fan, but they stopped building quality years ago.

Turner logging, llc. How's this holding up? I drive a truck for a living and it's been slow for me so I've been logging when I'm slow. Family has a sawmill and been logging since early 70s and have new Holland skid steer loaders. We used them with grouser over the tire tracks and they do ok but they rut everything really bad when you only have 1 in and out path. Im using a new Holland 885 now with the grouser tracks and it's so muddy and just ruts and I can't get up the hill. Will the cats pick up what they say? I've used John Deere and they are stout and a friend uses one for logging and loves it. I used a bobcat and it wouldn't do what the new Holland would and it wasn't as stable as the NH. I hear horror stories about the tracks not holding up in the woods and tearing bad and derailing. Will they go up a fairly steep muddy hill? Any real life info will be helpful. Thanks and stay safe

Probably going to get a lot of hate, but the company I work for does landscaping. We run Kubotas and ASVs. The SVL 95-2s is a solid machine. ASV is an awesome machine as well. We use the RT-75 but the RT-120 is a pretty decent machine.
@turnerloggingllc
@turnerloggingllc 5 жыл бұрын
I've always been curious about the ASV machines. The Kubota SVLs didn't impress me to much when I ran one, that's just a personal opinion. I know a few guys who really like them. I contemplated trying out the new Deere but Cat has been pretty good to us. Thank you very much for watching!
@deereman2607

I’ve run ASV, Takeuchi, Kubota, Cat, Deere, and Case. Case is garbage in my opinion. Some of the other guys I work with say the same thing. Takeuchi doesn’t impress me too much. Kubotas are a quality machine. Cat is not too bad either. ASV makes amazing machines, but the right size machine has to be picked. Some of the machines we have are too small to lift a pallet of brick, which is frustrating. In my opinion, Deere is the best machine I have ever run.

I wasn't to impressed with the Case machine either. I had a Deere once, and it wasn't bad, but I'd like to try the G series.

Case = Can’t Afford Something Else. Super loud in the cab. Controls are way too sensitive. The noise in the wheeled machines coming from the drive motors is horrendous. Controls are hard to figure out. Deere is quiet and comfortable. Simple to run.

Like you fellas, have operated about every machine out there and have thousands of hours in the seat. The newer ASV’s are definitely impressive. They are simple and sound. Ground clearance has helped me get places other machines couldn’t go and the track helped me make money on sloppy days other machines couldn’t have worked. Not to mention they rarely (if ever) derail the tracks.

Is this your first turbocharged machine? Are you still supposed to cover the exhaust pipe when transporting it?
@turnerloggingllc
@turnerloggingllc 5 жыл бұрын
No, every machine we've ever had has been turbocharged. I'm not sure on covering the exhaust pipe, we never have when in transit. Thank you for always watching, Walter!

I have heard the wind can make the turbo turn when the engine isn’t running at it won’t get oil for lubrication.
@turnerloggingllc
@turnerloggingllc 5 жыл бұрын
I've always heard that, too. But I've heard a lot of people say there isn't any truth to it. I honestly don't know what's right or wrong on that subject.
@jaxturner7288
@jaxturner7288 4 жыл бұрын
walter mattson if the tailpipe is facing forward and exposed and you are hauling it all the way across the county, or at least a very long way for days on end, and you own it, and it’s out of warranty, it’s probably worth the time to cover the exhaust to protect it from rain water or road debris getting in. As far as hauling something around in clear weather a hundred miles at 65 mph and the air currents from that, there’s no way you will spin the turbo fast enough or enough revolutions to do any damage or even get it warm to the touch. Gravel coming out of the tow vehicles tires has a better chance of wrecking your turbo when trailering equipment with the exhaust facing forward then spinning the turbo at 5 RPM for an hour without oil pressure does, hell it spins a few hundred times without oil pressure every time I start it cold, probably spins a few thousand more revolutions without oil pressure when shut off at high idle. It survives.
