With so many new crossover utilities on the market, trying to make one stand out from another usually comes down to the details. But rather than focus on extra all-weather ruggedness, or cavernous cargo hauling, Chevrolet’s all-new midsize Blazer adds something no other brand can. The sportiness of a Camaro. So, let’s see if that blazes a new trail worth following.

Just so all you complainers know, back in the late 90's/early 2000's when Chevy was selling both a full size Blazer, and the S10 blazer, they decided to change the name of one of them so that they wouldn't be selling two different SUVs called blazers. They ended up changing the full sized Blazer's name to the Tahoe, and gave the S10 Blazer the name Blazer. It was at that moment the the Blazer became a midsized suv. The Blazer you guys imagine when you think of the old k5's never went away, it's called the TAHOE. When you actually think about it for 2 seconds you'll realize that the Tahoe/old Blazer really is just a shortened Suburban...
@Impala-qp9cb
@Impala-qp9cb 5 жыл бұрын
Chevy has been playing the wordsmith game with Blazer, Tahoe for years. Tahoe in the 80s was a package for the S-10 Blazer much like Silverado Scottsdale Cheyenne used to be for the C/K line. and the Full-size Suburban and Blazer/Tahoe was neutered in 92 when they got rid of the front axle. There is only one Blazer that matters and that is the K5 based truck version. GM knows it, otherwise GMC would be making this and calling it the Jimmy. Its no Blazer. Its a Camaro based CUV otherwise known as the modern minivan. The Astro was more fitting (Its actually not a bad looking CUV) but they are slutting out their original competitor to the Broncos name because they are marketing it to soccer moms who want nothing to do with the Astro. This abomination will be crushed in junkyards in 25 years/forgotten and people will still be craving a K5. Much like Chevy screws up other historic names alienating their die hards. Legendary GM designers, names of which adorn the Corvette museum in Bowling Green are rolling in their graves.

I'm even willing to accept the fact (though not happy about it) that it's Mexican built. But the one thing that is a major deal-breaker for me is the lack of an Off switch for their engine Stop-Start system. Until they add that switch, I just can't consider this vehicle.

I have the 2020 RS blazer and thank GOD the button to turn off auto stop/start is available. Living in NJ,a K5 style blazer would not work here. Its all about convenience driving. Good styling and good power A few disappointments,should have been rear wheel drive while not in AWD. The front lower seat cushions should have been extended another 2 inches. The radio display boxes that are on the bottom portion of the display screen are alitte hard to touch without the dash lip Interfering . The headlamps are high intensity lighting, but dont display the white lighting as you may seen in LEDs or xeon lights The directional turn singles. are not leds. However,the cabin is extremely quiet . I think there is only 2 ways the buy the blazer. Premier or RS fully loaded. However both models are 50k+ when the fully loaded traverse is the same price point. Also keep in mind,the RS in night fall grey with high gross black trim and blacked out R21 wheels look the best

When I was 18 I bought a 1966 Dodge Dart 273 four barrel. Terrible branding. It had a 4 speed, Possi, solid lifters and an AFB C carb and I added Doug Thorley fender well headers and eventually a double pumper Holly carb. Cragers SS wheels with Goodyear Blue Streak Sports Car Special tires. I'm going into all of these because, prior to the Holly, I ran 14>8 sec.@ 94 MPH in the quarter mile. I won more street races than I lost, including 289 and 350 Mustangs, 327 Camaros, as well. The bottom line? This V6 Blazer ran that very same time. Damned impressive.

The V-6 is a very potent power plant for this vehicle. It is easy to get in and out of (I am an amputee). I found the Toyota Highlander and Subaru Forester lacking when compared to this wonderfully designed vehicle. You can't compare this to the old sludge boxes of yore as this is a much more refined vehicle in every respect.

Great review! My wife drives a GMC Acadia. There are way too many similarities between the Acadia and Chevy's new blazer! I wish the Blazer name would have been left for a vehicle built for the four-by-four enthusiast rather than putting it on a soccer moms car.

We test drive the first one in our area it was a RS AWD... It was super awesome! I have a new RS LT2 V6 manual Camaro in Red Hot, same color as the Blazer was, would be a great match for my other half! A DTC trans w/paddle shifters would be nice in this along with the Camaro's 335HP engine-at least in the RS! But really you couldn't ask for more! It drove superbly!

elton john The new 2020 Highlander looks amazing and is without question a better family vehicle than the 4Runner (safer, more comfortable, less expensive, etc.). The 4Runner will take more abuse off-road, last longer than forever, and is still built in Japan. A new 6th Gen 4R is coming, probably the fall of 22. The RAV4 is the best overall value and is built on the same platform as the Highlander.

The Ford Edge ST is a full second quicker to 60mph, Chevy needs to invest more money into their V6 engines if they want to compete with Ford’s 2.7V6 , 3.5V6 and 3.0V6 Ecoboosts.. This 3.6 is a bit underpowered by today’s standards considering it’s a top trim engine in some platforms.

It has every styling cliche possible on today's cars, including the cavernous grille, fake exhaust posts, small greenhouse, tiny headlights and tires that look like a thin film of rubber on an all metal wheel. The real issue other than the poor visibility is going to be the lack of reliability of this setup, especially the dual clutch transmission with the 3.6 liter engine.
