2019 Hyundai Elantra Sport - Drive Review - 201HP 1.6T + 7-Speed DCT Automatic

Here is a $24k compact with all the right stuff on paper... and even a sexy LED-tastic exterior to go along with it. Turbo engine with 201 ponies. A seven-speed double clutch automatic. Sportified steering and new suspension out back versus other Elantras, too.
But was it FUN in all caps? No, it's not. The sprint to 60-mph felt pretty pokey in this test car, and it overall the Elantra Sport seems nowhere near as fun as a Jetta GLI.

Totally disagree with this guy and his review, I own this car and it’s a blast to drive, super fun, didn’t even mention the top speed in the car is 145, yeah it may not be faster than a Volkswagen but you’re gonna be paying close to 30,000 for that car when you can get this around 24 or 25,000, the Elantra sport is the best looking of it’s competitors too, interior looks a lot better than the competitors too and it’s not even close, the red stitching, flat bottom steering wheel, wheels look agressive, this car is super quick and fast, trust me, I own the car, sounds like this guy is a hater and that’s what he is, the Elantra sport amazing car

David Tolbert IV does it really go 140 I thought a sales guy told me it was governed to 120 for top speed

Arnis Bole sport model goes to 145, I’ve had it up that much

i got the 2020 sport and yes 145 is true...but my turbo let go at 13000km....not a happy camper right now...and yes iam taking great care of my car...fuck it piss me off...brand new car ....you know

You're not being fair with the Hyundai Elantra sport because you are comparing it to a car that is more expensive and more powerful. The VW GLI has 228 hp and 258 of torque. 🤔

0672abby you’re right. Elantra as tested was $27k and GLI starts at $27k, but needs ~$3k DSG automatic to be totally comparable. However, i would still pick a base GLI stickshift over this. You driven the VW?

No I haven't driven that car yet and like you I will take a faster car any day but you don't have to pay $27,000 for a Elantra. Now you could get the same Elantra Sport with that same package cheaper cuz of the rebates I don't think you could do that with a Volkswagen.

0672abby I own an Elantra sport but you can get crazy deals on new VWs and they make about 220 to the wheels. It’s a larger heavier car and still does under 6 second 0-60 with wheel spin.

Did some shopping last week and the Elantra Sport manual is definetely cheaper than the SI and GTI/GLI, at least here in Quebec. For the same price i would have only a Mazda3 GS manual.

Pretty good review, I have this car here in Canada, with the 6 speed manual, and its fantastic. The Jetta GLI was on my list, but the deal on the Elantra was too good to pass up. It really is a great car for the price.
