If anyone in the comments reads this: The only thing you really need to do is to swap out the computer with a vortex ignition one. It's game changing. I've got one on my '17 500 EXC-F and 10/10 recommend to anyone with a dual sport bike. :)

@@jackwelton1593 better idle, easier to start, no flame outs, better rev limit, more throttle response. The bikes barely run on the stock computer to the point where it's not fun to ride at all.

I’ve just bought one with 190 hours on it, I don’t think it’s ever had a top end done on it. It sounds sweet enough though. KTM say it should have a new piston every 80 hours which costs about £430 in the UK for a dealer to do it. Is this really necessary? Thanks

except of removing exhaust insert you have to remove also lambda sensor and there is no need for any tuner. I have 500 exc-f and looking for 350 exc as a second bike.

Couldn't agree more about the 6th gear being WAY to low👎 In recent yrs iv had a 450exc just sold the 300tpi (wich was my 4th 300) On a 350 six days now and id have to say its prob the best trail bike ive ever owned, BUT to get the best out of it, you really have to be prepared to rev the absolute shit out of it!!! Im running 13/52 gearing for ultimate punch in the single trails, but the trade off is it doesn't feel right cruzing above 80kph on a open road👎 Being in Australia mines completely de-smogged, fmf 4.1 and ecu re-mapped by Rex at 'Fuel Torque' Queensland👍 Sometimes im tempted to get another 450 for the extra hp but it comes at a high price.. for anybody that doesn't know the 450 and 500 ride 8/10 kilos heavier due to the fact of the larger capacity rotating mass. In regards to the bigger fuel tank option, i dont think the 350 needs it.. im getting 130k's

I was Desert racing, I totally F ed up, pretty good G out, BUT maybe my forks bottomed out due to my fork bleeders screaming(and leaking) under the eminence load, SO maybe my forks faded... Right? Maybe I could of saved that trip over the bars? Thanks for the review(love your reviews), I've got 350 on the brain, only problem is I'm a KTM 500 guy, only thinking about fuel range and MPG on the T1 Tour of Idaho, I dream of 65mpg and only needing a 4.1g tank. In reality, while on the T1 if I'm alone I get close to 48mpg on a 500, if I'm with a buddy, and we are flexing some T, I might get 42mpg, I suspect the 350 might get a little better mpg, unless I'm riding with a friend. I've seen online one peep saying 350exc 65mpg, but most reports are 50mpg ish. I'm 250 with gear, 500 might make the most sense. If I bought a 350, I'd probably buy a xc, and add a street kit to it, ride the T1, and I also could do the 6 and 10 hour of Glen helen on it(450xc too, wish I could get a 500 with AER forks, or dual chamber). Not sure a suspension tuner could tweek an open chamber fork to reduce trail chatter, and then support me on a good jump, lol. (wishing for a KTM Quiver of 350, 500 and a 300, lol.)

Forks do not fade. And if you F-ed up, that generally goes out of the criteria of what they were designed for. If you designed a fork for F-ups the fork works poorly everywhere, just ride some Factory Bikes to feel this. As for fuel mileage, I get the same on 350 and 500 KTMs. But I can tune a JD Tuner to a lean state and I can get 20% better range. But this is rider dependent quite a bit as you have seen when riding with others.
@bradl45

@@DirtBikeTest I'll have to test leaning out with a tuner, thank you. 20% is HUGE The fade(I've never had a fork fade), nothing was going to save me, not even my lame joke, lol.

Hehe no worries. A related question then, i am getting off of my fat f800gs and looking for something a lot more trail friendly, have it narrowed down to 450L or 350exc/fe. Any of the 3 will feel light compared to the 500lbs i use now, and your site review said the 450L wasnt as heavy as the number suggested. Would you recommend the 350 and i just dive a the way in or is 450L a better choice (possibly more reliable)?

great review... thinking of switching to enduro.. on RMZ 250 now... how is the 350 for street riding at about 70-80mph before i go off road. my goal is to be as close to a 250 mx bike that can get me to the trails at 70-80 mph.. i think that would be 350? any advise would be great. tks.

Going over 65 on the 350 EXC is painful due to the gearing. It will do it but it will be revving way high for the speed, in our opinion. This is one of the only complaints with this bike.
@travisgilliam5
@travisgilliam5 2 жыл бұрын
If you want to ride the bike over 65 just change the gearing. May not be as fun back on dirt unless you go back to stock gearing

hey guys, you said in a few places that it's "low to the ground" and you can touch the ground and walk it through tough sections. But I read it has a very high seat height so it's really for tall riders - like 5'10"+. Can it work for shorter riders? Thanks.

I'm 6'2" but older and probably not as limber as I used to be, but this seat is very tall. I have 34" inseam, and don't get both feet flat on the ground. Still the bike feels low when you ride it and you can really flat-track it around.

Not by any significant way in a general sense. For specific situations, each will have stronger and weaker traits that could lead either bike to be "easier" to ride.

How difficult would it be to open the trans up and change the 6th gear to a longer gear ⚙️?
@bradl45
@bradl45 5 жыл бұрын
I've put a 6th gear in a 450xc, took me all day, but I spent some time cleaning while I had the motor apart, You need to split cases, the hardest part for me is getting the transmission back in(5 minutes of fiddling), did it same time as a top end, put exc 6th gear in, the 350 the same, IDK would take some research.

If you ride trails more often, go with the PDS shock on the KTM. I can hit desert whoops no problem with the pds shock and it benefits you with more ground clearance in rocky sections(doesn't get caught on rocks or trees). It's also easier to remove the shock for maintenance and less parts to worry about.
