I am surprised how good it looks as a Sedan, specially the rear end. Many manufacturers screw up backends of vehicles these days, at least in my opinion. Keep it up Autogefühl team!

The Mercedes design looks pretty good in small sizes. the tall windows makes it more equilibrated. And this sedan is, in fact, prettier than the hatch version

I’ve owned and driven more cars than I can remember. Given the choice of a hatchback or a saloon (UK name for sedan) to buy or use I’d pick the hatchback every time. Just wish more manufacturers would follow Mazda's solution for the tonneau cover. It’s simple but ingenious. You never have to fight or move the parcel shelf unless you need seats down for a very large item and then it stores under the floor. Loving the Autogefühl coverage of the Paris Motor Show. Keep it up "guys". 👍🏽

Ahh yes thanks Thomas been waiting for this review. Nicely done car for the person who finds the C Class a little big. Love the new Dash, rear and front lights. Surprising amount of space in the boot.i will pick the sedan over the hatch. Glade you fit in the rear . Gary - Australia

I hope they'll improve sound insulation, A-class hatch is surprisingly noisy inside. 6-years old Audi A3 is quieter.

I just came back from a 12 day trip to Germany, and the car I rented was a Mercedes A180D hatchback. I like it very much, other than the engine auto stop "feature" and the shifter that's mounted on the stalk that's reserved for windshield wiper on other cars. Even after 12 days, when it rains I sometimes still mistook it for windshield wiper switch and accidentally put the car in neutral on the highway. Didn't get to use any of the fancy features since I was concentrating on the road and driving, but the car felt very solid and smooth. And for a 1.5L diesel, I didn't have any issue with it's power, was driving on the Autobahn at 110 mph passing a lot of cars. Two lane highway passing does take some pre-planning as this is not a quick car, although it felt faster than the published 10.5 seconds to 62 mph (I didn't know the specs beforehand). I wouldn't mind owning one although reliability (or the lack of) of German cars is concerning. My mechanic (a BMW specialist) told me to stay away from purchasing German cars unless I have a good friend who is a mechanic. For the record, what I am driving daily in the US is Mazda NC Miata and Infiniti Q50 3.7L that makes 319 horsepower and 5.5 sec to 60 mph.

Got one on order in this spec, everything as shown here except the wheels (chose the night package 18") and the red seats, as I prefer the black ones in alcantara. Can't wait!

Well said about the CLA being too expensive. I think it's expensive just because it has to differentiate itself from the a class sedan. 2 bumps on the hood and 2 different back lights don't justify the price.

I just bought one but about 1000km, its aircon is not working properly, gives me hot air in shot day of 35°C, Mercedes said aircon sensor intermittently not able to detect the temperature. Oh my god, it is only 1000km mileage. No spare wheel comes with. MBUX is not user friendly, engine noisy, too quick to change from d1 to d2, resulting engine trembling

Design is more sporty. Probably doesn't cost them too much as they "only" change the chassis, so why not have both.

So basically the sedan has less head room in the front, less head room in the rear and also less leg room in the back. In addition to that it looks less sharp than the hatch but is more expensive. Makes total sense to buy the sedan than ... ;-)))

Yes, if you have a real big head or is very tall, this may be a problem. But you may also buy an E-Class. I find the sedan very beautiful, and the hatch not so much so.

Cheap, easily cracking and scratchy plastic everywhere, from trunk, to engine, to interior, paired with under-powered engine, the only nice touch is that double screen dashboard

CLA will have a more "coupe style", with the third volume less evident and only the more powerful engines of the A Class (not 160/180/180d)

The MERC gives the choice to CHINA for a long wheel base for this A Class. Why they don't think of India with this special information. Still the price is cheap in China when compare to India.

The new A class looks and I'm sure is much better than the old CLA, of which I've driven a few times as a loan car when my 2009 C class sedan has been in for service. The CLA makes no sense other than for style... it was expensive and felt horribly cheap to sit in and drive. It's a shame we can't get the hatchback in the U.S., or a C class wagon. The GLA and GLC are more practical than the sedan but just not as good to drive; the Golf GTI is a cheaper and a more appealing replacement option for me. @@przemon81 😂😂 I don't think he's seen the new 3 series. I love Mercedes but BMW have smashed the new 3 series. The 3 looks better than this and the current c class. We'll have to wait till the next c to do a proper comparison. I feel like Mercedes will smash the next c.

That’s ok. I’m curious about the new 2.0 hybrid with 180ps. I’m looking for something to replace my GT86 with something more practical and fuel efficient. But for me 122 ps version doesn’t cut it. I’m looking forward to the review when it comes out 😊

If you take a look at our driving parts of the reviews, you see that we of course have clip-on microphones. However there are several good reasons to use the handheld microphone very often, we do that intentionally. See more details here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p56dldqW38rDho0.html

The audio quality is better because they don’t get bleed from environmental sound so you can hear people better and the sound is clearer without needs to be loud in volume

A-class hatch 4m42, A-class saloon 4m55, CLA 4m64, C-class sedan 4m68. For me as a european, those compact-based sedan doesnt't make sense. They're too long for being 4 cylinder only transversal mounted engine FWD cars almost as big as the upper class which features a longitudinal mounted engine with a proper RWD transmission. Okay I get it those A3 or A-class sedan are made to be sold in China and USA but I would always pick a compact FWD as a 5 door hatch, shorter to park with a more practical boot space. If I want a proper saloon, I pick a BMW 3 series or Mercedes C-class with RWD transmission and 4, 6 or 8 cylinder engines.
