8:23 Funny that you mention Billie Eilish, considering that they played Bad Guy during the intro sequence despite her not being there at all. She made arguably one of the biggest hits of this year so far... and yet all she got was a VERY slight nod. That's how irrelevant the show is.

@@connorqr She's just following the path that Lorde paved, and even the groundwork for her career was set by Lana Del Rey. Despite Lady Gaga's shallow attempts at provocation, Kesha's autotuned mess of a career and Katy Perry's lack of talent, pop music felt titanic and was interesting. It was the bronze era of pop, with the mid 80s being the golden era and the late 90s being the silver era.
@roguishpaladin5 жыл бұрын
@@MyspaceEmo I don't know that Lady Gaga's attempts were that shallow. She was a flamboyant showperson back then, but so was Elton John in his day. She was also a LBTQ ally at a time when they needed outspoken allies, and that actually was a little provocative. As for Ke$ha's mess of a career...well, uncomfortably, we know why that is, now. I don't think it's bad that Billie Eilish is following in Lorde/Lana Del Ray's footsteps. We get fatalistic music for fatalistic times and there's a time-honored tradition of taking and adding to what the people before you have made. If following in the footsteps of other artists is bad, then we need to toss out things like Get Lucky and Uptown Funk too. Pop music isn't necessarily supposed to be too innovative. We've got other genres for that.
@connorqr5 жыл бұрын
2007 Myspace Emo yeah I guess pop isn’t pop anymore which is why the mainstream is now targeting specific internet audiences/aesthetics instead of the populous as a whole. To be fair to Taylor about the whole why is she speaking now thing and not before: I would like to say that in her most recent interview she says that as a country artist she was pretty much gagged into not turning into the Dixie Chicks. This is not an excuse but she also had like 100000 white friends and then when she did diversify and expand those she surrounded herself w/ she starting speaking up. Mainly last year in the primaries. I think she said her greatest regret was not speaking during the 2016 election. @@culwin Same here, just that she actualy makes and write music and even directs music videos is enough to respekt the hell out of her. Like Most of the singers Todd mentions in videos is just random people singing. There are thousands of them out there. I dont get it at all.

If not for a comment I spotted on another one of your videos, I would have never heard of Song vs Song until now. Thankfully I did and I've been listening for nearly three months. Keep up the great content, Todd. ^_^

So THAT'S what all those polls were about! Okay, I've now subbed to this podcast. I am now fully within the Todd loop. Also, thanks for the heads up on that exclusive content. I'll be ready to adjust accordingly, if need be.

Whenever Todd asks for money it’s always for his car. His he living out of it?
@stephaniewozny38525 жыл бұрын
I'm more curious about how many cars he's gone through. I think the last couple of times he's opened One Hit Wonderland and Trainwreckords for requests, it was specifically for car repairs, or money towards a new(er) car.
@uishy3405 жыл бұрын
I think he's needed car repairs twice in the past while, but seeing as they haven't done a lot of good in the long run he's getting a new one

Holy fuck Todd I've been a fan of yours for years and watched all your videos, of course i want to hear your podcast! You've got to be confident and promote yourself more man, it may feel like selling yourself but you don't have to be so shy. There are many people who genuinely really appreciate your work and the things you put out and only want more as long as it's on offer. I'm broke right now or I'd donate on patreon, but what I will do is keep watching all your stuff and liking and commenting for the KZfaq algorithms. Also I love rush and your rendition of limelight at the end was fantastic, thank you for that and all else that you do.

I became a patron, because I've been rewatching your One Hit Wonderland eps one after another for, like, the last three days while doing stuff around the house. I should have become a patron long ago, but for some reason this time when you asked it clicked that, "Oh yeah. That's a thing I should do." Great stuff!

I am bias cause I'm a big Halsey fan, but personally, I do feel that she was robbed of that 'video for good' award. Like, yes, Taylor is doing a lot of great things for gay rights but, "you need to calm down" is very much Rainbow Capitalism: The song. Halsey is the actual queer singer doesn't need a terrible song to promote gay rights, plus Nightmare is a great song and doesn't have any of that rainbow captialism bullshit. (also i agree that Camila and Shawn's relationship could be a publicity stunt, i remember being 11 and reading my teen bopper magazines back in 2015 and reading all the rumors that they were dating.)
