@@kev614 lol Yeah, pretty much no one makes a mark in the league after playing in the cornfield that is Kinnick Sta., so they probably do lean more toward mediocre talent. Kittle is the only one I can think of at the moment.

Most of the points in this game were created by mistakes. Mississippi State had 16 of their points from mistakes (3 after 12 yard Iowa punt, 13 from 2 TDs after turnovers) and Iowa had 14 (2 TDs after turnovers). What an incredible performance by both defenses. This game was awesome.

On Easley's 2nd TD, Brandon Smith had a great block on the corner covering him. Just one of the many little things we did well to win this game against a good MSU squad. Smith might give DC's big headaches next year. Go Hawks! PS According to the prognosticators, Iowa had far inferior recruiting classes than MSU--shows you how good Ferentz is at developing players.

As an Iowa fan, State has an otherworldly defense. Iowa could not get the run game going at all and was fortunate to get what they could through the air. Just glad to get the W!

Fun game to watch. Iowa grad here (went there for 4 years of cheap season tix and a math degree I'm paying down). Bowl games are a blast when they're between two defensive teams because the offenses have a month to find nooks against the opponent's defense. Iowa caught MSU in a couple aggressive blown coverages and beat them on some middle outs with a variety of guys. MSU used the extra blocker you get when your QB is your main running back and pounded Iowa's defense into a few play action mishaps and a few misdirection misses which resulted in long gains. The game was field position, sacks, turnovers, and big plays. That's awesome football to watch.

You want to know the difference between Iowa and Mississippi state? Iowa: 38 bowl appearances, 5 rose bowl appearances, 1 national title, 14 conference titles, 2 BCS bowl appearances, 2010 FedEx orange bowl champions (BCS). Mississippi state, 1 conference title in 1941.

Austin Sokolowski MSU gave up 90 yards in penalties while Iowa had a total of -15 rushing yards and no penalties, MSU’s self inflictions were much more significant than Iowa’s. But like I said, shoulda coulda woulda🤷🏽♂️

Austin Sokolowski MSU gave up 17 points off turn overs, 2 touchdowns and a field goal on top of that dropped pass in the end zone that turned into an interception at the end of the game. But at the end of the day a win is a win

As a sTaTe fan/graduate, it pains me how Fitzgerald is still given credit when everyone knows he’s been the achilles heel ALL season & Moorehead hasn’t been the best play caller in certain KEY situations EITHER all season! YES Fitz has all the accolades, running title this/hella yards that, but he regressed as a pastor as he got older & that shit hurt our season this year. We had THE NUMBER ON DEFENSE IN THE FUCKIN’N NATION for Gods sake! Hell, IOWA had -20 yards rushing in the game!!! Im just not one of those fans that are satisfied with Golden Eggs and Florida bowl games, and this season was a waste with some of the BEST talent in the SEC! Again, as a sTaTe fan/graduate im too disappointed after this year. Go Colts!

Also, 8 wins is impressive with a QB like Fitz, offense is the only thing that held us back. Best team is a dumb statement because our 2019 recruiting class is equal to any class Mullen has recruited, plus Moorhead is bringing in a QB that will fit his system better. You can keep Mullen because his performance at State was average and lackluster at best. Again, your tried

As a Mississippi St fan im so fucking glad Nick Fitzgerald is leaving so Thompson can start. Miss St had a chance preseason to mke the playoffs & the only team picked to beat Bama in the regular season, but the sorry ass play by Fitzgerald is why we couldnt do anything on offense all year. Fitzgerald is 🚮

.....so yeah I can believe you lost the game and Iowa didn't play their best. You had more offensive yards than Iowa because you kept turning it over giving Iowa a short field to score....

Should have been an easy win for Mississippi state, but as they've done all season they gave it away. Miss state defense was great but offense was terrible. Not saying Nick us great but he'd look a lot better if had somebody who could catch the ball

@@allblack8148 Arguably could go both ways. Yes, MSST got flagged often and had the weird interception but Iowa made some dumb mistakes as well. Overall good game, would love to have them both go out on the field again.

I’m pretty unbiased and am the first to admit a fair and square loss, but MSU gave Iowa damn near EVERYTHING, I wasn’t surprised at MSU’s defensive performance because they had the 3rd best defense in the nation behind Clemson and Bama coming into the game. I would’ve been ok if both teams played a perfect game and Iowa came out with the win, but this is very frustrating. Pretty much summed up MSU’s season
