Wouldn't it be easier to just pull the whole rain gutter rail out then trim off end pieces you may want to reapply? They're only cosmetic right?

Yes can cut with angle grinder. Take the whole rail off.

Can you put a longer platform on or is the backbone restricted to the 1528mm long platform? I really would much rather have the 1928mm on top of my ranger

I'm going to invent a soft clamp mount on the upper window roof struts. Instead in the factory rail or channel. It'll be on the outer body of the roof frame, only utlize the back bone for a structure feature

They are good rack but the wind noise and buffeting is huge. Mine came off within a week.

The cost to repair any damage will be 3 to 4 times the amount saved getting it done. Plus insurance will eat you alive if it fails and was diy.

How much louder is the wind noise inside the truck? Any big change or is it acceptable? Thanks!

Good question. The rack does create some wind noise in the cab, but the sound is tolerable. It doesn't tend to howl or whistle so the noise is mostly just a low rumble of air being disrupted as it rolls over the top of the truck. The sound seems to be comparable to almost any other flat utility rack I've ever driven with, but it may not be everyone's cup of tea depending on how much they value a perfectly quiet cab. Hope that helps!

Wind noise is bloody huge because it comes so far forward and all the wind going up windscreen go's straight under the rack. Fuel consumption go's up considerably.

@@shreckm6470 The fuel consumption will go up regardless of the rack. If you want to save on fuel, consider not getting one? The wind noise can be mitigated using wind fairings or even putting in a light bar.

Sucks to be you guys in the states, as our rangers in Australia the channel rails from the factory are made of rubber, so much easier to get off and cut and did anyone notice he didn't vacuum out the roof lining where the curtain bags are, they aren't that hard to pull down

How strong is the rivits? normally rivnuts is the norm.

The rivets seem to be plenty strong enough to secure the channels to the roof. We haven't had any issues with them coming loose, rattling or leaking after multiple off-road trips and camping trips over the last 6 months.

Attaching the tray to the backbone rails is an ABSOLUTE pain in the ass. He says "a little bit tricky" but what he means in impossible. The T bar part has nothing holding it even remotely tightly in place and you can't hold it with your fingers while you out the bolt in. Worst thing I've ever tried to do.

It's called a counter bore for a pilot hole if your drill walks. You need more silicone to "waterproif" a f..k up

I think it is a complete and utter JOKE that Ford (and many others) do not have these holes completed in the factory. Hard to believe in 2023/24. Unbelievable in fact, 'yeah lets just drive a whole heap of holes in my $70,000 to $100,000 new ute'. Ridiculous.
