I've had my Triumph Speed Twin for around 3 weeks or so now and I'm really loving the machine - there's an awful lot of good to say about the bike and in this video I attempt to tell you my top 5 things that I love about it. I say "attempt" as this particular production was fraught with issues, from the GoPo falling of the bike, the edits not working properly and the sound failing...just one of those days I guess!! ...I wonder how long the honeymoon period with this bike will last!? Stay tuned for many more videos on this bike in the near future...

I feel your pain brother. After working all weekend i settled down with a cuppa and joined you for the ride only to watch in horror as you lost the go pro! Hope didn't scratch the tank as it took quite a tumble. Very informative re the Speed Twin. Glad you're enjoying it! Ride safe and am sure you'll have better days. I had visions of a Zero type scenario when I read the title! I've had my Triumph, a Speedmaster, for 5 months now. Normally at this stage the "Honeymoon" period is starting to wain, not so with my Trumpet Strumpet. I haven't had one single moment where I've thought that could be better or this is a bit naff. Still cant park her up and just walk away, I always have to stop, turn round and look back at her. Triumph, collective Sirs, you've got it spot on. That engine, whether it be the HT or HP is a masterpiece.

Great review as always. You're absolutely right; it doesn't matter where they're made as much as how they're made. I'm convinced the rumors are true that Triumph emulated Japanese engineering in their new designs, which really makes them improved British copies of improved Japanese copies of original British machines. These bikes are fantastic.

I, like a lot of the other commenters, thought the worst upon reading the title. Glad you and the bike are ok. Thinking that the camera falling off the dial was the last of your troubles, I honestly thought my headphones were on their way out when the audio went south. The quality of your videos are always tremendously impeccable, so much so, the reliability of my equipment was immediately suspect. As always, thanks for sharing.

Number one reason for buying my Street Scrambler is the way it makes me feel when I ride it (as well as when I look at it!). I recently has a Speed Twin courtesy bike but didn’t much like the handling/riding position when compared with the SS. Just as well really - because otherwise I’d have had to buy one, and there isn’t room in the garage for both. Great channel; keep up the good work.

Heart attack! As you no doubt intended, the camera's view as it bounced along made me think for just a moment that you'd come off while trying to stop it from flying (sorry) away. I'm with you Andy. When I returned to biking after 40 years my head was turned by the Triumph modern classics range. Triumph being a brand that I'd hankered after since my teens. I am proud to ride my T120 Black because it is British, wherever it was built. A visit to the Triumph factory confirms Triumph's commitment to quality and on the factory tour they state that the workers in the 'clone' factories are initially trained at the Hinckley factory, so operate to standards set here. Keep up the good work!

In the grand scheme of disastrous bike vids, I'm glad to say that wasn't a good one lol. I was watching the vid through my fingers expecting you drop it or be taken out! Thankfully that wasn't the case! I'm not hugely in to Triumph's but it is a lovely bike. I was recently checking out the Thruxton R Track Racer & it looked stunning. On my list!

I wont be changing my bike for a while, i just use it for commuting but if and when I do I’m very tempted by one of the Triumph retro bikes. The Street Cup is very appealing as i love the cafe racer style and don’t need the extra power (and expense!) of the Thruxton.

I have one of these, same colour, and coming from bigger faired bikes I had my doubts but I love it for all the same reasons. It’s a cracking bike and I’m really enjoying the ease of use and that great engine. Can’t understand why the steering lock isn’t better but not a problem. In October I’m going to try a short tour of Germany on it, we’ll see. A fine companion to my Speed Triple!

Missie, it is very important that British Bikes are made in Britain because we like our kids (black, brown, yellow or white ones) to have jobs here. Nuff said. Great choice of bike. I have the Bonneville and love it. I think it is the way that Triumph have made the Bonneville variants sound and behave exactly like we REMEMBER the originals sounding and behaving. It evokes idealised memories. Very clever. I compared my T120 with a Tiger 650 recently and the older bike made a tinnier exhaust note and rattled and leaked and wobbled on fast bends. My new 2017 T120 is absolute perfection.

Triumph now employ more people at Hinckley than they did before they opened factories in Thailand as a result of doing so. That's why BMW, Ducati, KTM and HD followed suit in Thailand and India. It's a shame that's how the world works but there's no point being unsuccessful to please purists.

My only gripes are: the fuel mix at low revs causing jerky throttle response and seems like it wants to stall; short gear lengths; kind of spongy suspension; seat could be comfier. These are tiny gripes though because I am always smiling when riding this beauty! I got a fuel booster plug to address the fuel delivery at low revs, and will likely be grabbing an aftermarket seat. Keep up the great reviews!

I guess that portaltwo is my age, my first two bikes in the 1960's were a BSA then a Triumph. Difficult to start, leaks, unreliability, pushed too many times, enough hassle to put you off two wheels. But then bought a Honda. No leaks, total reliability, what a pleasure. It was stolen from my garage in 1979 so if anybody sees PTO 88G at a vintage rally, its mine 😬 Never since have I entertained a British machine because of those bad experiences. So how times have changed. I admire your passion for a quality bike, and look forward to your longterm review. Hope your faith remains unshaken! Thanks for the ride today

Just a tip old bean, if you mount cameras to the bike, tether them in case the mount gives way. I decided after years of watching many of you to try recording a trip, bought a camera, solid RAM mount, clamped it onto the brush bar on my GSA and somewhere it just disappeared heh. No idea where it went, but it came off while riding along. Just take a small bit of paracord and just tie it off to the bike. In my case it was one of the screws on the swivel of the housing mount that came loose from vibration.

Having owned many old school Brit bikes back in the day I have been very wary of the new versions of Triumphs. Up till now they have had many points against them to be attractive to me, lots of imitations and look a like parts, they were trying hard to look the part and relying on their previously good name. They still have some bits that don't look quite right but they are gradually improving (or maybe I'm getting used to how they look) and performance is now as it should be. The Street Twin range surprised me when they first released it and I couldn't help admiring them but the one thing that let them down was the low power output for the size of the engine compared to other engines. I'm glad to see they have addressed that issue and really got this version of the ST on par with modern bikes. I could easily see myself owning a modern Triumph at some point, it's very difficult not to admire them and I would be proud to own one !

Ideal for a solo spin, no doubts. I tried one for a couple of hours, unfortunately it was raining so I didn’t get a chance to feel my arms coming out of their sockets lol. I wanted the lightness of the thing. However, my doubts are that I couldn’t have the bits I need for touring an everyday use: The backrest, screen and so forth; besides that would ruin the looks of the thing. So I’ll stick with the green and Fusion white T120 . Maybe in a couple of years... You lucky boy, having both ST and the RE Interceptor...

I rather enjoyed that you included the go pro falling off and the way you calmly reacted. There’s a lesson in that.

Having lost a Hero 7 Black off a Bobber on an "A road a couple of months ago which then got run over many times and totalled using the same mount I now TETHER, TETHER, TETHER! It was mounted to the tank by the way. I now have no confidence in suction mounts and prefer to use the 3M stick on versions where possible else secure by a tether, usually a shoe lace which works well. Do you you insure the gear on the road, if so is it via house contents?

Just picking up an older video of yours Andy. Great video, apart from the challenges you had. You have got me thinking about getting one next spring. In my youth, I rode a Bonneville and a Norton Commando. I actually looked at getting a Norton a few years ago, but passed after their financial challenges. I agree about your comments about a British bike. I have strong positive feelings about Britain, although I am Scottish/Canadian, and left the UK when I was 2. Anyway, I love the look and performance. The only thing I wonder about is the wind protection, as I have gotten used to the screen on my GSA. Keep well and talk soon. I hope to get to Britain next summer and ride the NC 500. Perhaps we could meet and I could buy you a pint or two?

I do love the triumphs, but I'm not a fan of too much tech on the bikes. I don't need fly by wire or riding modes . The only useful mod is anti lock brakes. Great channel and great videos. I did think the camera looked a bit precarious though.

Personally don't trust the suction mounts, certainly not with the £350 Hero 7! Get yourself the ultimate Add-on mirror mount. I need another as left mine on the 1250 RS 😖 Yes was having one of those days too!

A few years back, the phrase "British quality control" was considered an oxymoron and the butt of many a parody (e.g. - see Top Gear's hilarious British Leyland challenge), but being a Street Triple R owner myself, I have to agree the times have certainly changed for the better. I still had a laugh at the memory though.
