Holy cow! It's been one of the most anticipated reveals all year, and the new Yamaha WaveRunners does not disappoint! Enjoy this 9-minute review of only some of the coolest new entries to the 2019 lineup including the all-new FX SVHO Limited - Yamaha's top-of-the-line flagship, the even-racier GP1800R and lighter weight VXR, and the super fun, amazingly quick EX-R. The entire FX lineup is new too, and features some amazing stuff like the industry's first all-LCD, full-color touch screen dashboard, a huge 100% waterproof padded glovebox, better ergonomics, and easily the best rough water handling hull that Yamaha has ever produced. (We really think it's going to upset the offshore world.)
We couldn't cram all of the information into this one video, so make sure to get ALL of the details of the new 2019 Yamaha lineup with more pictures HERE:

Just bought the 2019 fxsvho WoW this thing rips and the best thing about it is ... it’s a Yamaha and won’t stay in the shop most of the summer, don’t get me wrong the others are nice but from working at a repair shop for these skis I WOULD NOT buy anything else. 72 top speed until you flash them . Stay safe and have fun is what it is all about!

IMO Yamaha have absolutely hit the ball out of the park with the new FX range. Cruiser and Limited look insane, new dash and ram mounts are an awesome addition. The old FX hull was awesome in all water conditions so I’m sure if the performance of the new hull surpasses the old, then its a big win.

How do you compare the Kawasaki Ultra 310 vs. SubDoo 300's vs 2019 FX hulls for offshore riding?
@watercraftjournal
@watercraftjournal 5 жыл бұрын
We don't. Primarily, because we haven't had the new FX offshore yet, so it'd be unfair to compare it to anything in that environment. But Kawasaki has been losing races (closed course and offshore) and market share (5.5%) to both Yamaha and Sea-Doo for years now. Their product is no longer competitive.

Yes! That issue was resolved when a small rash of 2017 models showed this issue. Last year, some GP's began showing cracking around the intake grate because of the pressures on the Nano2 hull. For 2019, the GP has new reinforcements and brackets inside.

i'm having a problem deciding between the 2020 fx HO or fx SHO. I'm finally handing down my 2000 xlt 1200 pv to my wife (still runs perfect). I'm not a speed freak the 1200pv is plenty fast for me. I prefer the low speed idling performance of the 4 strokes around mangroves and docks. Does the supercharger decrease the reliability of the 1800 engine? Does the supercharger decrease any of the low speed handling? I live inside the treacherous boynton inlet where being under powered is deadly. Thanks for your help in deciding if I should upgrade to the supercharger or not?

Well, it's sorta like asking "what shoes should I buy?" I don't know what you're planning on doing with them or anything about you. Are you going to church or wanting to go running? Are you going to the beach or to work?
@watercraftjournal
@watercraftjournal 6 жыл бұрын
But in all seriousness, there's a lot to weigh in that question. I know "Antilag Boost" wants to trash me, but the reality is that the decision is entirely subjective. What features have value to you, and which don't? Are you looking for rough water handling? Inside-lean cornering? Hull predictability? Top speed? Storage? Comfort? Bells & whistles? See what I mean? What exactly are you looking for?
@Newzchspy
@Newzchspy 6 жыл бұрын
It's NOT subjective when you throw in the most important factor: Reliability. OUT of all the skis I've ever owned, from Polaris to Honda,Kawasaki, Sea Doo and Yamaha, Yammies are by far the most reliable.

@watercraftjournal
@watercraftjournal 6 жыл бұрын
Britton, Kevin here: As a family man and father of 3 kids, the majority of my riding is with passengers, so a "sitdown" runabout is ideal for my personal situation. I grew up on 440s and 550s, and standups are a lot of fun, but not exactly what I would call a "family toy." (Maybe when the kids become teenagers.) So for me, it's about being able to take the family out, do so safely and comfortably regardless of water conditions, and still be plenty of fun for me to take out on my own. Of course, what might be good for me won't match your priorities, so it's purely subjective.

Mitchell Palacio I hear ya. I have two tuned sparks with custom pitched impellers. Roughly 110-115 hp. They rip for what the are. @watercraftjournal
@watercraftjournal 6 жыл бұрын
LOL! Duuude. They couldn't even fit the regular TR-1 engine out of the VX into the EX hull! They had to redesign the exhaust manifold just to get it to fit (and that's why it went from 120HP to 100HP). And the two craft are really two totally different machines. But yeah, $9,299 is steep when trying to compete with Sea-Doo's Spark.

I love how Yamaha took the fact that it was very popular for FX owners to add chart plotters to the cup holder, so they went ahead and made it a factory option. Now, the only downside to the 2019's is the Riva ride plate on the GPR, they porpoise really bad above 75 mph as they're designed for cornering not speed. Anyone who modifies their GPR will have to buy a 2018 OEM ride plate for safety's sake.

They understood that many people already had RAM mounted-GPS and other items, so they made a modular system to work with products people already had. That way someone with a '14 FX HO could transfer all of their existing equipment to a new '19.

There's no shortage of "fan theories" why Kawasaki appears to have withdrawn larger/wider interest in developing PWC. Currently, motorcycle sales are the lowest in nearly a decade, and Kawasaki USA's central focus is motorcycles. With moto sales low, it's easy to extrapolate that PWC wouldn't receive the budget necessary to pour into development.

I just bought a 2018 Yamaha GP1800 and a 2018 Sea-Doo RXP-X. I have to say the GP1800 is nice, but the RXP-X blows the Yamaha out of the water. The electronics and gauges on the GP aren't even in the same league as the RXP. The Yamaha looks outdated, the RXP looks like a futuristic transformer. The RXP can hold a much tighter corner due to the T3 hull, and handles chop much better. To me, the RXP just feels more powerful out of the hole, and really all around. While the GP is the lighter machine, the RXP feels lighter, more agile, and tighter all around. I love both machines, but the RXP can't be beat for tight corners, power, features, agility, and looks.
@watercraftjournal
@watercraftjournal 6 жыл бұрын
Well, your opinion doesn't seem to line up with fact, given that the GP1800 racers have all bested every RXP-X on the water, both last year and this year (thus far) in AquaX and ProWatercross racing. And the GP's are winning major offshore events as well. Yes, the GP is VERY stripped down and frills-free. Many fans of the ski will tout that as a "plus" while others will say its boring. Really, it's a matter of personal preference.
@CTG711
@CTG711 6 жыл бұрын
I haven't done any research to verify that "every" race was won by a GP1800. However, while 90% of us here will not be racing professionally I'm just stating my own personal experience having watched all the GP1800 vs RXT-X & RXP-X videos on KZfaq, then making the decision to purchase the GP and RXP. I'm just an enthusiast who likes speed and agility. I'm 6'2" 230lbs and I like how you sit "into and lower" on the RXP as opposed to "on top" of the GP1800. I love both machines and hope for many years of trouble free use.

I certainly understand, but I think you'd agree that racing serves as the ultimate test laboratory for a vehicle, regardless of make. The RXP-X suffers from the same bow steering issue as the ST3, and sales reflect accordingly. The P-X sales are a fraction of the GP, as the GP currently ranks 3rd in the highest selling PWC for 2017. And while this fact may carry zero weight for you, it does speak towards the craft's wider appeal, ease of riding, and strength in a multitude of markets.

I wouldn't even reply to his "opinion." GP sales exceed the Sea Doo for many reasons, primary of which is reliability and resale. He's just tryig to justify the reasons for his purchase.

@@watercraftjournal, I have a 2015 RXPX260 and just bought a 2019 RXPX300, and was wondering what you mean by Bow steering, and how does it affect sales. I may (probably) have it but maybe not realizing it.

Yamaha can bring out all the features they want... it only holds 530 pounds of passengers. Seadoo holds 602 pounds. I would have owned a Yamaha if it was able to hold more weight. If you want me to buy one... make them be able to hold up to 900 pounds and you will sell out every time.

530 pounds is nothing for 3 passengers. That’s 176 pounds per person. It’s impossible for some men to reach that weight. I didn’t even calculate supplies and fuel to the weight capacity.
@watercraftjournal
@watercraftjournal 5 жыл бұрын
It's not often that 3 grown men ride together on a 3-seater. Plus, once you reach a certain weight capacity threshold it ceases to be a PWC per USCG regulations.

Why does Yamaha also go out of their way to knock seadoo? Wanna be Trixx? Be excited for the new product rather than knocking everybody else. I appreciate all brands and that’s why came to look. I have two seadoo sparks and I think that EXR seems interesting but come on man. Stop hating on Seadoo for being Innovative.

The speakers included in the FX Limited SVHO are modular, Bluetooth operated, and modular that attach on RAM mounts. They aren't incredibly loud (I couldn't hear 'em at WOT). These are NOT comparable to Sea-Doo or Kawasaki's speaker system.

Yamaha customer service is the WORST!! Has anyone else had a 3' section of fiberglass peel off the side of the waverunner with under 20 hours of use, only to have so called customer service tell you it was due to hydaulic pressure?? No, the new speaker system isn't the best. They're not official Yamaha products, either. But part of Yamaha's contractual accessory program. Thankfully, there are other brands that work with Bluetooth and RAM mount that'll melt your face off.

@watercraftjournal
@watercraftjournal 6 жыл бұрын
I can see where you could think that, Andre but the decision to go with RAM Mounts was actually quite a smart one - if you ride with large groups, you'll find that many already employ RAM Mounts for GPS, rod holders, GoPros and more. While they do look like ungainly appendages the mount system is pretty brilliant. Now, if you want to argue sound systems, YES! Sea-Doo is lightyears ahead.
