As far as art is concerned, these videos of Kim Jung Gi are some of the most valuable lessons in art ever recorded.

I saw lots of people in the live chat asking 'Can I be like him?', and have seen many people elsewhere online asking the same thing. A lot of them are told 'no. he was born like that' or something equally dumb. Can I learn to draw like Kim Jung Gi? The answer is yes. Using perspective, drawing with forms (not shapes), these are things that can be learned. Drawing without guidelines while keeping accurate proportions? Jung Gi isn't the only one who can do that, and anybody can learn to with practice. If you don't know perspective, I recommend moderndayjames' videos on it. The largest hurdle in becoming like him, in my opinion, is memorizing the appearance of so many objects. It will take years of dedication. But that's what it takes to reach such a level at any skill or craft. You CAN become like Kim Jung Gi. Anybody can. But barely anybody WILL. so start drawing.

I completely agree. He is obviously very talented but it’s a shame to say he got where he is solely through talent, this man has worked very hard to curate his skill through years of drawing ✍️

Its all about long term memory Muscle memory is equally important. Gi trained his eyes, his mind, his hand wrist and arm to be in complete sintony, like you mentioned repetition and more repetition

You can see his drawings going back to, like, 2005, or something, on the website. He definitely got better over time, and he said, himself, that he pretty much draws everyday, and observes the world everyday.

We can be like him. The difference being how long it takes. For some maybe 10 years or 15, 20, 30, 40 years - you get the picture. It depends on how much time and effort you put in, the right amount of information and practise, the right mindset. Learning the fundamentals, etc *BUT* whatever the case maybe, even if we don't reach his level, we'd still be *BETTER* than we are yesterday if we start now.

@DahliaCherry4 жыл бұрын
Belometti Navyy I would agree for the fact it weren’t for his photographic memory at play as well. Yes, a lot of his work is attributed to skill he attained over many years but there are veteran artist just like him who drew every single day that are unable to draw like him. It’s very very VERY hard to maintain an image in your head at such clarity you can draw from it for such a long period
@dougg10754 жыл бұрын
Belometti Navyy do your have a callus on your drawing finger Einstein? Me neither, and by the way I’m 51. Watch it again and know you will never be able to shade your figures first with no outline.

He basically uses the same technique as the one he used on another video with watercolor :) Except, it seems like using COPIC markers that can blend are a better alternative to watercolor in terms of time and convenience because, watercolor requires you to pause between layers in order for the applied layer to dry first before adding another. However, COPIC markers appear to be more costly than watercolor paint. Correct me if I am wrong though... :)
