Do you ever use a raddle on your Ashford table loom? Thanks for the work you do on your videos; they’re very helpful!

Well that’s handy. Not being skilled with woodworking tools (i’ve never even seen a router, other than the internet connection sort), I suspect my version of a homemade raddle would involve playdough, duct tape, and birthday candles. But i agree - the built-in raddle is a pain. I loop rubber bands over sections to keep threads from bouncing into neighbouring slots, but the threads will tangle as they approach.

I had never heard of a raddle before yesterday. Direct warping my rigid heddle looms can be a pain, with all the tangled threads. When I saw a weaver using one in a demo video for making a cowl, I literally gasped and covered my mouth with my hand, hehe, wow! What a game changer, thanks for this video, I just subscribed to your channel.

Like your idea. The built in rattle is metric so hard to do in inches. And it is not tall enough. Will have give your idea a try for my spring loom.

I love you rattle thank you for sharing. I have a louet David and I hate the rattle also, I can never seem to get my warp on straight from back beam to front. I just can't figure out that math properly.

IMHO the Louet raddle has too many dents (openings) per inch, yhats why I made my own.

I’m a newbie & want to build this! I borrowed a friend’s who put hers on the top of the loom, but some put theirs on the back beam. 1. What are the advantages & disadvantages? 2. What size cotter pins did you use? 1.5” x ??? Thank you for your videos! I find them ever so helpful & inspiring.😊

I can't really tell you anything about putting the raddle on the back beam, as mine won't fit there. I am quite happy to have the raddle on the top of the castle. When on castle, the cross can be between raddle and back beam, and in my loom that makes it easier for me to watch and be sure i dont have any tangles. cotter pins are as you guessed, 1-1/2 inch.

@@curmudgeon66, thank you! How thick are the Cotter pins? I need to order them online & I want to get the correct pins. Is thicker better?
