Hello Ally! Thanks for sharing the comparison between planners and the flipthrough! Ive said it before but you’ve been the main inspiration for me to start a dedicated language studies planner only myself too, and I think the ‘21 format is the one closer to mine. I’ve been meaning to simplify it too though, I find that even though it’s useful to me, it takes a lot of time to do the resources list on the side and the daily updates. I think it would be super interesting if you share a flipthrough of 21-22 ones though! Also, considering the “takeaway” point you mentioned… I’ve had the same issue: it’s a solid habit to just track and record everything nowadays, and when sometimes I’ll have a 休み.. I find it hard not to track things, but holidays shouldn’t be about studying all the time.. as a result I feel guilty for not having studied as much, and it’s just super hard to accept as a fact… 😅 would love to hear if you have any more insights on dealing with that…! Have a lovely day❤

Love this! I've been relatively consistent with language learning for a year but I really struggle to know how to track. I use notion for everything else in my life but still haven't quite figured out how to do it best for language tracking and what is best to track. Might try and simplify like this!

In that case I really recommend you to try this method!! I even tried moving it to Notion myself and honestly it didn't work at all: I think a paper resource is superior in that case, mostly for the satisfaction you get when filling in the small boxes for each item once they are completed ^^

This was a great video! You just inspired me to try and keep a weekly language journal! Im planning on using the same format that you are currently using because it seems quite simple and easy to adjust!

It's interesting to see how our brains work differently😊 The way of tracking obvious for you is so hard to understand without the explanation😂 But I still enjoyed this video a lot 💙 I like how you treat the language tracking journal as an anchor to keep your motivation. It's very smart ^^ I used to keep track of my language learning in a journal last year for some time, but the moment I stopped tracking it was so hard to come back to the journal again. I really like your advice to track it every week even if you don't do anything in particular or just have a planned rest. That way it really makes it easier to keep your motivation going😊 Seeing how much you did in 2023 makes me want to go back to language journal tracking this year ^^

Please try the journal method again!! It's so great honestly I wouldn't be able to do without it now! My language journal is my second brain when it comes to what I want to study, and I look at it every single day and thank myself every single day for having the motivation to write my study list in advance of the week! ^^ also, your comment about how our brains work differently and how you wouldn't understand without my explanations blew my mind!! is that really the case?? I of course assumed it would be, but I honestly can't put my finger on the parts that are VERY specific and which seem like almost secret code to someone else?? it all looks so logical to me, obviously 😅

@@arinoyume I stopped tracking progress in hand written form, but I still note on my phone what I managed to do. It's easier since I only copy and paste the never ending list for the next day and tick off the things that I did.😂It works in some way, but it's certainly less satisfying than going through a physical journal page by page, because the second method can help you realize that you might not have failed as much as you thought you did on certain things and that apparently you did pretty well and this is something that I really need at this time.😊Seeing your journals made me look back on my own journals and it was really helpful and motivating, so thank you for sharing this kind of videos💙💙💙 For the parts not understandable without explanation I think it's obvious and clear for you, since you were setting the rules and you know what every particular dot and square or statistics are supposed to mean. For someone who uses different system of tracking progress it may not be that easy and may take some time to decipher😸It's like you would see everything in pink and I would see everything in blue😹 And for me the fact that I was reading parts of your journal through my knowledge of chinese and not japanese, makes it a little bit trickier 🙉🙈🙊And for someone who doesn't know any kanji it will be even more difficult to decipher 😺

you're absolutely right I didn't think about that 😅😅😅😅 thank you so much for your thoughtful comment, this really helps me get some perspective on how I approach my explanations, so this is super super constructive ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Very interesting and so inspiring. I started to track my study goal just last year and I am still adjusting it to make it more effective for me. I was wondering, do you still track your study hours or doesn’t it matter to you anymore at all? And also I’d love to see how you track your study materials on notion. I see that a lot but I couldn’t bring myself to try it myself yet. Take care.

hello dear thank you for your comment on this video too!! about tracking my study hours, i have done it twice in the past for about 3 to 4 weeks at a time, to have an idea of how many hours i was spending on my japanese but i don't usually track my hours ^^ i usually recommend to my coaching clients who struggle to study or to implement a study routine in their daily life to track their hours though, so that they realise how much they are doing already (most people don't realise how much they are already doing because they only focus on the "lack" of progress). I can talk about that in more details if you like! that would make an interesting video topic i think 😊 about my study materials tracker on Notion: thank you for letting me know! I'll produce that video soon then ^^

@@arinoyume oh I’m looking forward to this video and I think a video about tracking study hours would be great too. I totally agree that this method can give you a better perspective on yours studies especially when you think you don’t do enough. It can be really motivating to how much of your time you already dedicated to your studies.
