This 2020 Bentley Continental GT is all new and while there are some carryovers - like the W12 engine as well as Bentley’s inimitable design language - most of it is completely new. The platform is entirely different, it’s more luxurious, it’s lighter, quieter, has a much larger performance envelope, and even though this Bentley is a brilliant example of hand-finished materials, it’s thoroughly modern and filled with the latest technologies.

Brian: Best review of this Masterpiece on KZfaq. You could have topped it off with playing the sound system, but very technical....I have a 2014 GT that I will "try" to trade in within the next 24 months to purchase this vehicle. I would have to sell a body organ and trade in my 2014 to be able to buy a 2020 one.

Awesome review. So thoughtful and authoritative. Especially the fact that you have driven all the modern era Bentley GT models. I am so glad that you pointed out that this is a Grand Tourer. It is not a "buzzy" macho sports car. Clearly it is designed as a serious driver's car with the ability to provide effortless power in a bespoke cabin with minimal road and engine noise. It's so exciting to see such a seasoned veteran so impressed with a new model on a new platform.

I guess Rolls owners can expect some competition with their coupes, as 9db is a massive difference. Now, hopefully the Flying Spur is around the corner. Great to see you back in a Bentley Brian. Cheers!

Thanks! They're already testing the Flying Spur, so it won't be long and if it has this same interior, it'll be a knockout! I enjoyed my brief time with this one, though.

thanks Brian back in early 2016 you tested the Bentayga and even though I didn't like it at the time your drive somehow made it so appealing .. back in Feb 2018 I ordered a 2019 Continental GT and got it in December in moonbeam color and its the best car I ever drove or owned ever :) and BTW I did see the new Flying spur back in April in a very special event on a slide show only and it is amazing .. just to prove it let me tell you that the center vents will not be bulls eye anymore for the first time this is something they didnt reveal yet .. also the car will be shown in June

Congrats! Love Moonbeam. Interesting about the Spur. I think it will quickly become my new favourite. Love the Bentayga and if anyone is not impressed after driving one, they don’t get it.

@@BrianMakse I agree driving the Bentayga is a must to judge it, another thing about the new flying spur that they didnt show yet is the front grill it will have the same one as the new face lift Mulsanne with the vertical bars that is closer to a Rolls , I guess the matrix grill will be kept for the sports cars only

I can see the difficulty in trying to verbally convey the sensations a vehicle of this type presents while underway. You did a pretty good job of it nonetheless. I would love to sample this vehicle myself, but my status among the great unwashed masses of car nuts seems to predict an certain lack of success, haha.

Amazing interior and build. I be nervous driving such a expensive vehicle around though. People look and stare at it too much, not always ina. Good way. I prefer a truck to go cross continent and assimilate

This is the Launch Edition spec, but a preproduction car. No issues driving it around Laguna Beach and Santa Monica.

Brian, great you’re mentioning experienced racer, it gives street cred. In case I missed this part, how does this handle potholes and rough roads, especially with those extremely low profile tires?

Great question, Hal. I forget about that because my last three Bentley tests have been in California. Still, I drive these things over the horrific streets of LA and Orange County, and Bentley does a remarkable job with body and wheel control, as well as ride and handling. The air suspension and damping is simply exceptional. Where lesser cars would suffer with 21” wheels and tires on tougher roads, modern Bentleys excel. They are true grand tourers, after all. We have a Continental GT V8 Convertible review coming soon, so watch out for that!

That’s purely personal preference. I haven’t driven the convertible yet, but I’m sure it’s brilliant.

Mercedes Benz's FINAL EDITION S65 AMG.. that 12 cylinders SOUND. IS AWESOME‼️👍🏽WHY can't this BENTLEY have the same sound. You must get an 8 cylinder?

Bentley has always positioned the W12 as the more genteel option. Plus, Bentley is certainly not anything like AMG.

@@BrianMakse W12, Hallmark silver, linen and beluga interior, burr-walnut dash and centre, 'first edition' spec so it includes a full list of optional goodies, including Naim Audio on top, red 10 pot calliper's, dark wheels and black pack for the side trim and tail pipes. Looks mean as hell, but will spend most of its time "wafting along" ... with volcanic forces awaiting throttle input ;-) _(My ideal spec would be Moonbeam silver coachwork, with a full dark red "cricket" interior .. but that combination never appears for sale pre-owned, and if you order that spec as new its a 9 month wait followed by loads of depreciation in the 1st 12 months given how car-tax+VAT works)_

It looks like Moroccan blue, Sequin is a bit lighter and less deep. Sometimes it's hard to tell, but I'm pretty sure.

I’d take the Continental. Performance, refinement, and serious luxe. Plus, the Continental is all new while the Wraith is a few years old. The Wraith is more one dimensional. They aren’t in the same ballpark, though, and I don’t think many people cross shop these two.

TO answer your question about how many 2 ton cars are this quick. Tesla Model S P100D... actually, it's a 7 passenger 4 door sedan that's MUCH MUCH MUCH QUICKER. The ONLY thing this car has is high end fit and finish and luxury.

Is the grill still made of plastic? Get rid of the awful diamond stitching. Other than this it’s a nice car.

I think that is 3D printed metal in the current model. The diamond stitching isn't a problem due is an extra: you have to pay to get it so if troubles you just skip it.

Don't like the level of silence? Just straight-pipe it! Then change the wing for a big fixed wing. Then add superwide wheels and tyres, plus a set of extended arches. And a wacky wrap job. And there you have it - a completely tasteless waste of money!!

I guess so. Cant wait for them to do a two door personal car based on the Mulsanne platform. Something in the vein of the Bentley Continental R 1991-2003 or the Bentley Brooklands 2008-2011.
