Come along for a quick install of a really neat sub/Amp kit. Installing a Rockford Fosgate p300-10T punch into the 2020 Ford F-150.
Took about an hour total. No drilling. Fairly cheap. Best of all it sounds fantastic. Such a perfect upgrade!

I watched a dozen videos, and this is exactly the one I was looking for. I needed to know which wires in the door pillars were the speaker wires. I am installing a 10” sub under the passenger seat, and this works best. Thanks!!!

Your welcome! Best way to find speaker wires in a wire harness is they are usually twisted together. Not sure the reason they do it. But it seems to be a standard. I'm ready to add a second box lol

I ground it to the seatbelt latch bolts. It ground just fine so it must be hitting something not aluminum.

Having the right gauge cable for power is not crazy, it’s crazy to us a cheap power cable that will distort your amp and then distort your sub and damage it. Especially if your power cable is copper clad aluminum, the very cheap stuff.

There isn’t really a need to tap into both pillar wires. Correct? You can just use one pillar to get Audio from and hook them all together.
@itsallgooddan
@itsallgooddan 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you absolutely have to go to both sides. Give it a try with only one side. If the bass hits just fine then I would say your good to go. Unfortunately I'm not a pro with this stuff so I'm not sure of there is a technical reason for one way or the other. It was easy enough for me to do it so I just did both.

Why didn't you mount the speaker behind the rear seat I instead of under that seat? You can also run your power cable through the frame to protect it. Basically snake it through.

Great questions!!! I believe the box would not fit behind the seat unless I took out the paneling. As for the power cable I did end up re-running it but not through the frame. But that is a great idea for sure!

u can just the rca cables to go in the back of an aftermarket instead of tapping into speaker wires?
@itsallgooddan
@itsallgooddan 2 жыл бұрын
You could yes. Thats more wires to run. Plus taking your head unit out of the dash. Doable but more work. I have the stock head unit so i wasn't going to take it all apart and hope there was an RCA slot. Speaker wires also double as the remote to tell the sub to turn on and off too. So it just made more sense for me to do it this way. Less wiring less stuff to take apart. And less work when i sell the truck and need to take the sub out.

@itsallgooddan
@itsallgooddan Жыл бұрын
Is there an inline fuse along the power cable that might be missing or bad? Verify that the switches are all in the correct position as well. Lastly if you used a speaker wire as the "remote" turn on, some vehicles the car has to be turned on all the way for that to work. Not just in acc mode. Only other thing I can suggest is checking the manufacturer information for possible causes.
@uni3831
@uni3831 Жыл бұрын
@@itsallgooddan checked the fuses and they are all good, doesn’t work when the vehicle is on but it’s got power, it does make a sound when you flip a switch so I know it’s working, only thing I can think would be the wiring, did you hook it up to both the left and right side for the speaker wires? I only hooked it up to the right side as I was reading the comments and someone suggested that it might work with only being hooked up to one side but might not be the case,

@itsallgooddan
@itsallgooddan 2 жыл бұрын
Im guessing your talking putting this in the trunk of a regular sedan style car? If so then you should get the same effect. You may have to play with the control dials on the amp as you will have a section of metal between you and the sub(backseat) but this thing puts out some pretty damn good bass so you will still be able to feel/hear the bass with ease. Its not going to shatter windows. But you will still be able to notice it.

Does the built in amp in the sub give more power and frequency to stock speakers?
@itsallgooddan
@itsallgooddan Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. I had changed out the stock door speakers before I did this sub install. I'm going to guess no. Because the speaker wires are just being used for a remote. They are tapped in. Not the sub inbetween head unit and speakers. If that makes sense. Sorry not a pro so I might be wrong.

It turns on when the doors open yes. But if there is no sound going to the speaks it shuts right back off. Even if the truck is running but i have the volume on 0, the amp stays off. Too add on in the manual the blinking red light indicates that there is either a short or the connections to your speaker wire might be bad but what was interesting was when I used my volt meter to the + and - on the connector piece it was saying I was getting 12volts and it was no disturbance which is weird that the speaker wouldn’t stay turned on even without the speaker connector plugged in

@Mr T sorry. yes I did forget to include the part of connecting the RCA straight to the speaker wires. I showed the wires in the door frame, just not the actual connecting part. When you get into the door piller between the front and rear seats, you will see 1 wire harness. Easily split the caseing around it. You will see two wires twisted together. They are the speaker wires. I just tapped into them directly right here instead of going all the way to the head unit(being factory head unit that seemed like it could be a mess to do) I took the connecter off one end of the RCA cable. Which gave me two wires. I connected those to the speaker wires above. I tested by turning music to make sur ethe sound was right and that i didnt have the wrong rca wire to speaker wire. If that makes sense, Tape back up the harness after you know the sound is right. Rca complete. Also this Amp/sub kit uses the speaker/rca power as the "remote" so no need to run a separate remote. Unless you want to.
