Some people think every Mustang should have a V-8, but we’re not part of that crew. This super-boosted Mustang gets a revised version of the turbo-four we loved in the old Focus RS - plus, tires, brakes and suspension parts from the top-dog Mustangs like the GT and Bullitt. With 330 horsepower and a lighter front end, Randy Pobst takes this hot hatch-powered pony car out for a blistering lap at Willow Springs. #Mustang #EcoBoost #TireRackHotLap #Ad

Auto Young This is one of or if not the best car in its financial segment. Look at the competition, they either don’t produce enough power, aren’t daily drivable, or are completely outdated - specifically the 370z and the BRZ. Most people that bash the Ecoboost or even the high performance variant haven’t driven them nor own them. Honestly, it’s best to do your own research and ignore what these idiots have to say. I'd rather have a 2.7 or 3.5 ecoboost but I have a feeling that would make the 5.0 null and void. I really liked the last gen of the v6 mustang...that was a proper sports car. I haven't been in a 2020 four cyl yet but I did drive the gen one of the eco boost and was very let down , it seemed lack luster to me.

As a V-8 owner who lives at high altitude, I am seriously looking at forced induction for my next car. I grew up on big, torquey V-8 motors, so if I was at sea level, I'd want the 4-cam V-8. But I also remember when cars like the BMW 2002 came along and made balance and handling something worth having. I think the force-fed 2.3 would be tons of fun on the local mountain roads. As long as the rest of the car is up to spec (like a real 8.8 w/ a Torsen in the back) I might be persuaded. The fact that the cooling system can't keep up isn't reassuring.

300+ hp for a turbocharged four-banger from factory. Good job, Ford! A buttload of large capacity V8's can't even come close to how well these new, small engines perform these days. Even my wife bought the Coyote........the 2.3L has no "soul"! Nor rumble like the Coyote especially in "sport" mode and rumble mobile exhaust setting. Love our EcoBoost Fiesta ST Mountune, but the Mustang is just what we wanted to take us back to 1970! Moan and groan about the tires, we have them on our "California Special" and they are great. Look on KZfaq for a stock GT doing a 3.99 0-60 and an 11.99 quarter on them! And the handling is super!

I messed around with the Ford 'Build Your Own' website with this vehicle. If you spec this out to the max, you might as well buy the V8. This car tops out in the mid $40K range. I know of a basic V8 with a manual that was sold recently in the low $30K range. That leaves a lot of $ for upgrades.

I agree it's sad how many performance cars don't include enough cooling. From cars like this ecoboost mustang and your Subaru. Even track focused cars like the early c7 z06 and honda civic type r have issues with cooling. It was one of the main reasons I bought my Camaro SS 1le. I took it to buttonwillow in late June and ran 4 20 minute sessions in the 100F heat. And my oil temp stayed constant.

How exactly is this model cooling brake discs with inverted hats? The base GT brakes have a backwards rotor design. Air flow from the chassis side/under-tray while traditionally very effective if designed well does about as much as having someone mounted to each corner blow on them like a cup of coffee with a rotors designed like this.

Great video, I just prefer a smaller lighter car ( and truck for that matter ) so in the US that puts me in a 2 seater sports car. Which is what I have. The US manufacture's vehicles just keep getting bigger and bigger. A smaller lighter vehicle is more maneuverable and quite often better handling.

I'm concerned about long term longevity. It's a heavy car and a small engine that has a large demand on it. Direct injection and turbo charging puts an enormous strain on the compression rings and rod bearing. I bet by 75k miles that it will consume excessive oil and would be very surprised if it didn't.

But, wouldn't you rather have a V8? I drove an ecoboost mustang 50th anniversary back in 2016 and the transmission felt so loose and sloppy. The converter was hardly ever locked up. It was kind of numb to drive and the engine and trans felt loose. However, the mustang GT of the same year was super nice. Great engine response. Converter locked up even at low speed to give it that instantaneous feel and engine feel through the pedals. All that stuff is important for the enjoyment. I wonder how this new one is in comparison.
