Franck Muller was one of the biggest names in luxury watches throughout the '90s and early 2000s, but throughout the 2010s the brand's position was supplanted by brands like Hublot and Richard Mille that adopted Franck Muller's bombastic styling and instantly recognizable tonneau case design. Meanwhile, Franck Muller doubled down on the big and shiny trend of the 2010s and fell further down in the pecking order. But in December of 2020, Franck Muller went back to its roots with the new Vanguard Line Cut.

The brand's resurrection that started with the more modern Franck Muller Vanguard has now taken a big leap forward with the introduction of the French market, boutique edition Franck Muller Vanguard Line Cut (Ref. V 41 S AT REL LINE CUT) - a thinner, more accessibly sized titanium take on their flagship model. Could this be the big break that Franck Muller needs to get back to its former greatness?

Great video, definitely a fan of this watch. Was amazed last time I have my hands on a Franck Muller as their quality and overall design just looked great. Wishing them success with this newer release. I was a fan of the standard vanguard but this watch looks overall cleaner and sharper.

Thanks! I agree, I think the old Vanguards looked good too but I always felt the size held them back, but this is definitely a step to make them more wrist friendly for most and also the bracelet really changes up the personality IMO, hopefully some day we can both get our hands on one of these or they open up the release to the rest of the world :D

Yeah, it’s amazing how they manage to curve both so much and still fit a flat movement in there! And FMs curved cases are really comfortable too because they just wrap around the wrist

Saw them the first time in the metal in Japan last year. In comparison to Hublot and RM they are more classical. Like their new piece. It’s pretty cool and hope they will make a comeback. Great video bro, let’s see what FM has in their sleeves for 2021 🙏🏻👍🏻

Yeah they're quite nice in the metal (or quite nice in carbon too) and really comfortable too with the curved cases. Fingers crossed with the better sizing on this piece they'll be able to stage a strong comeback :)

Franck Muller was making magic with the outsourced movements, like any other luxury brand, they replaced some parts with their own stuff, modified everything to adjust to the watch itself, have some finishing done, threw in some extra complications and snapped on a platinum rotor. That work alone was worth a couple grand. FM ofc could go with completely in-house movements, but then bye-bye under 10K watches. Tonneau when done properly is my favorite shape. Vanguard line Seven Days rose gold/white, Master Banker skeleton and World Timer are my all time favorite from Franck. Also love what Hublot done with in-house: Spirit of Big Bang Meca-10, Classic Fusion 8 day power reserve. And ofc if I ever get a chance to become filthy rich, I already have a few Richard Mille on my list :D

💯 Franck Muller has done some great work with both in-house and outsourced movements - Master Banker & Crazy Hours are two of my favorite mods they did to standard movements. I think they could maybe swing under 10k with in-house (this one is nearly there at ~12ish but in titanium), and much like with the Hublot Classic Fusions it'd make that 8-9k retail price point a much easier pill to swallow for basic 3 handers. I also agree though Hublot's done some great stuff with their in house movements, for me my favorite is the Classic Fusion Ultra Thin and also Big Bang Unico Perpetual...now to go find a bank to rob to afford all these 🤣

I like this a lot and also the slightly smaller size is trending in the right direction. Use of titanium is also a modern approach. i hope it does well and that the brand makes a comeback.

💯 i think this is a strong step in the right direction and I hope it pays off. Franck Muller's been through some pretty tough times over the last 5-10 years as it fell out of the limelight, it'd be great to see them make a comeback and reinvigorate their image in the modern watch world :)

Thanks! Happy New Year to you too! I'd heard of Cvstos but know very about them - I actually never made the connection that the two brands were related even so I've already learned something new :) From what I can see though they seem to be going a lot harder at the RM skeletonization look vs the watches in the FM collection - though reading up about them it looks like the brand was founded in 2005 back when everyone was starting to toy with that look. Interesting though, might have to do some more digging and find out more :)
