These Mustangs really do make big power for the money. Our Stage 1 Whipple package picked up 300+ RWHP and that's at the Tire!... that's a total of 751 rear wheel horsepower.... or roughly 875HP at the crank!

I own a 2017 Gt350. Curious, how long until this engine gives up due to the boost with this setup? I hear from everyone that it is only a matter of time.

I hear conflicting information about it’s a time bomb or that it can handle it etc but from my understanding 18+ gt350s have a Gen 2 Voodoo engine which is better and has better oil pump ? If I remember correctly

Yeah but I’ve heard they blow up on a stock configuration too so it’s kind of hard to know what’s legit and what isn’t. I have heard better info about the Voodoo engines.

The entire coyote family, 5.0, voodoo, and predator engines can handle boost well. The gen 1 voodoo got a bad rep in the beginning when ford technicians weren't screwing on the oil filters properly, leading to complete engine failures as the high rpm vibration unscrewed the filter. There are some gen 1 engines that drink oil but it's a small percentage. The gen 2 is using the gt500 block and can handle high hp easier. As long as you don't have a rare engine failure, most of these won't even be stressed with some added boost. The gen 2 is known to be more reliable, but the internet exaggerates every engine problem, there are plenty of gen 1 engines with 50k miles on them.

@@jeffkelly9197 The internet does exaggerate. That’s good info. I didn’t know the Gen 2s we’re using the same block from the GT 500s and they seem to handle the boost just fine.

I wouldn't boost this motor just do a max effort build. It's a real track car meant to Rev to 8500rpm. Do cams and long tubes and e85 and it will be super reliable. Only boost coyotes.

As a bow tie bleedah, I still respect all cool cars esp badass ‘Stangs. And this is Badass to the bone. Wonder if my stock 19 ZR1 manual would be lookin at pony hooves kickin up dust? Or we should have a good race? Great vid as usual. Glad you are venturing out into other things. That’s the only way to keep going. We love it all!

If you're going to supercharge a Mustang, start with a GT. The Voodoo was designed to be NA and it should stay that way. I'm predicting that most of these blowers will come off in the future.
