Having taken the dual-sport world by storm since its debut last year, the road-legal CRF450L expands customers’ off-road possibilities by enabling access to the best riding trails on public lands, even when that means connecting them via asphalt roads. Based on the CRF450R, the CRF450L is a performance off-road machine, but it also has the comfort and durability to make riding it and owning it a pleasure in the long run. Already armed with features like a titanium fuel tank, six-speed transmission and LED lighting, the CRF450L gets new graphics for 2020.

Tks for sharing, what is the reasonable highway speed? Without revving the engine out of oblivion?

Fred Pinczuk hey Fred, if you look at some of my vids, I’m doing 70-90mph off road with no issues. At 80-90 there’s plenty left in the motor. Honda limits the motor to 90mph through the ECU. But a simple gear change and SuperMoto wheels it’ll do a 110mph on the road. You can easily replace the ECU and gearing for well over 110. I do about 95% off road, when I use pavement to bridge trails, 75 is easily obtained and maintained. 69mph with 13/49 gearing still gets me over 50mpg in most conditions. My fuel options allow me to carry 6 gallons of fuel if need be.

I had one last year....hated it! I ride more trails and the thing stalls more than a stubborn mule! I put a tuner on it and it did improve but so jerky and awkward in trails. Was fun riding on pavement between trails. I sold it after a few months and guy who bought it loves it....he rides mostly roads. I now have a KTM 500 and it’s so much better on trails it’s unbelievable.

David Foosh The Honda 450 caused me to wreck in some bad spots due to the stalling issue, I fell on a rock ledge and lucky I didn’t get hurt. And I’m not the only one...several people I know says the thing stalls more than any bike they’ve had. I did put a tuner on it and it helped. First gear on the 450 is a nightmare! It is the weirdest thing I’ve ever felt....and yes very jerky and awkward. Now you get out of low speeds the 450 was great, loads of power and fun. But I ride quite a bit of slow technical trails and then mtn roads to the next trail, etc. I cannot emphasize enough how great the 500 is. It is absolutely smoothest power. It’s not extreme power but definitely there when u need it, I’ve never stalled it yet and feels so much lighter and nimble than the 450. I’m not saying the 450 is terrible but for what I ride the KTM is head and shoulders better....this is best bike I’ve ever had. Oh, and yes, EXC-F
@user-vr6qc5oe4r
@user-vr6qc5oe4r 4 жыл бұрын
When you watch reviews of the 450l and they give it good scores you need to notice that it’s always on fast flowing stuff AND in reviews where it competes with KTM and Husqvarna also take note the Honda comes in last. There’s definitely a reason. Everyone that I’ve seen on KZfaq that has a 450l says same thing....Honda made the bike WAAAYYY too lean from the factory and it doesn’t run right. Of course Honda makes a tough, reliable machine but it doesn’t DUAL SPORT well. Great on roads but sucks on trails.

Right now the price difference between the 500 and 450L is around $1600. Decent amount of cash but not a huge difference. It offers something a little different than the KTM and is not really a direct competitor IMO. Both are fantastic but the KTM will technically perform better off-road. But 99% of the riding community won’t be able to take full advantage of either one.

This isn't a WRR or DRZ, don't expect it to have 5K mile OCI's. It's more of a factory street legal enduro that happens to be amazing on the slab as well. It will run circles around any of the true dual sports on the market when in the dirt and it is much more comfortable and stable at highway speeds than the 500EXC/FE501. Exhaust, Vortex ECU and shed some of the unnecessary weight and this bike becomes very hard to beat overall, but in stock trim it does have some issues. Sadly, with Honda's track record, they will likely never improve upon that and it'll be up to the owner to make those improvements post purchase.

No kicker?! That's not a bike I would like to lug around... just to see the thing crap out a battery. When kawi made klx450r, at least they put a kicker on that dog and a good thing too. I owned it a very short while and sold it fast. It liked to knock and run way to lean, every after getting past the break-in period to adjust the valves... It still ran like a dog. Only ever ran racing fuel in it to prevent the motor from consuming itself with pre detonation.

The 25hp number was a mix up in a press release with honda, they copied the 250 numbers. it has 44hp

Where do you go to see actual riding reviews of bikes? I want to see the bike in action, climbing hills going through/over water crossings, tackling tight tracks, I want to hear the bike being put through its paces rev'd out going through the gears hitting a straight doing 100+kmh, bike reviewrers are so out of touch unless you are just pandering to a bunch of 40+yo mid life crisis soy milk drinking panzies which wouldn't surprise me. I'll see myself out.

The reason they can't criticize the bikes and make proper reviews is that the manufacturers wouldn't be lending bikes to them if they said bad things about it. Did they even mention the oil change intervals or valve adjustments in this video? Ryan at Fortnine made a good video discussing these reviews, you should check it out. If you want to see proper riding you have to find someone who owns the bike.

Luke lmao !! 40+ soy milk drinkers. I think im thoroughly amused and offended at the same time Thankyou !!. Im 47 yrs old with over 30+yrs of off road experience and still counting. countless hours logged in the woods, on MX track and GNCC series. my garage currently holds XR650L, KDX220, CRF250R, KLX250s, 250SX and KX500 which is still my main ride and goto bike. I have apparntley earned the title of "Old fast guy on the 500" from the local young guys out here. Most of them are teenage up to early30s....Most of them are definitely soy sucking pansy ass panty wearing girls that think having a Grizzly Adams beard makes them a real man....most of them thought a KX500 was only a legend and a couple that stepped up to try to ride it couldnt even kick the bike to life. probably due to the pansy class catering e-start button on todays bikes. You got the demogaphic backwards brother LOL Im actualy considering this bike because it linked the gap between old school thumper dualsport and modern offroad bike and its a Honda enough said...maybe thats the mid life crisis trying to slow me down a bit. either way this bike is sweet, you know its capable, look again plenty of new vids out there . until then go stroke your beard and apply your beard oil

I’m a loyal Honda owner of 37 years and I don’t find this bike interesting in the least bit. It’s choked up, over weight and under powered compared to the competition. Worst part when introduced was the $10,399 price tag. Buy the Beta for the same price and have a lighter more powerful truly dirt ready bike. Is it a better street bike? Sure but I want a dirt bike that’s street legal not another street bike you can ride in the dirt. I’ll pass this time Honda.
Why you should NOT buy the CRF450RL
