This mod has a pretty lackluster AI. I was playing as US and declared war on China and then they formed their own alliance and after that the war escalated out of control.

The Indian AI was beyond incompetent honestly. What were they thinking? They over extended their frontline way too early without any proper force to hold those gains and then after the fall of Delhi they had a good opportunity to cut off and encircle most of the Chinese invading army but they couldn't even do that. God that was a mess

in reality those chinese forces would be bottled in the narrow passes of the himalayas and naval forces travelling the strait of malacca would be easily ambushed. also important to note that there are few chinese bases in proximity towards indian border while indian bases are within close proximity in the chinese border giving them an edge in mobility in the early stages of the war since chinese would have to relocate their forces first. nonetheless this is still fun to watch and hopefully it will remain just a scenario.

I really dont like how easy it is to cross the himalayas in hoi4. It should definitely be intransversible for vehicles, and have some heavy negatives when crossing.

I've studied this for quite many years and I can see why popular perception might make it appear like China had India by the balls except that's not really a good analysis at all. China's military might is spread across all of its borders (Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Uyghurstan/Xinjiang, India, Tajikistan, Vietnam and the S. China Sea). By comparision, India's is concentrated largely against Pakistan and China (whilst arming the coastline), with the troops in Kashmir able to mobilise against either adversary. It would also be very difficult for China to organise their logistics across the mountains of Tibet. Basically, China shouldn't expect to make any territorial gains whatsoever via Tibet. They could via Pakistan, but it doesn't seem like those two countries are getting along v. well, except for in public photo ops. The last time the Chinese won ("62), it was moreso due to incredibly indecisive, poorly prepared and naive Indian political leadership. The Himalayan mountains or the PLA weren't even remotely analysed in terms of their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The Indian Army didn't even raise an army in Tibet until it was too late with troops with zero preparation for high altitude warfare and insufficient munitions. The few soldiers that put up a fight ran out of ammo and surrendered. Highlighting the stupidity of Pandit Nehru. Simply put, I think this is an extremely naive and unrealistic prediction for what would occur in the case of a modern Indo-Chinese conflict. Look at how the Fins mocked the Russians. The Swiss mocked any invaders. And finally, and more relevantly, look at how the Americans, Vietnamese and Japanese have all dealt with the Chinese, the Chinese barely stood a chance in either battle (Vietnam being their most spectacular defeat). I would bet the territorial gains would lean in the opposite direction, with a lot of Southern Tibet going to India. But that would reinforce Sino-Pak ties as they perceive India as a competent power, not something that serves Indian national security or interests. It is in our interests for China not to take India seriously, which means that at least for the time being, letting things stay the same in regards to China having the majority of Tibet, even though in a real war, they can only expect to keep half of it in a best case scenario.
