Fantastic. I see the crop wasn’t hurt too bad from the hurricanes. I love how the harvesters can pick up the crooked cane. Best wishes for the rest of the harvest.

I am enjoying your video. I am filled with nostalgia and regret watching this sugar cane harvest. Back in the day ,in my country we had a big sugar cane Plant (Hasco),we had multiple sugar cane farms. The Plant was closed. We lost everything.

Man the working width of sugarcane machinery seems like a pain compared to a grain harvester!
@AerialAg10 ай бұрын
Yep its a much slower and labor intensive process. That's why harvest lasts 3 + months.

Wow, that harvester trims, cleans and chops the stalks. I remember living near the cane fields in Florida back in the 1980's when they'd burn the cane fields to remove the leaves before cutting. Pretty nasty when the wind blew into town.

Great video, - nice to see you back in the sky. That could have turned into a very nasty accident at the 7.00 spot, - brave driver to keep going, as it's not as if they exactly have a clear view of the ground ahead. He could have gone either way. Personally I think it was only the weight of the unloading arm with contents that made him lean towards that trailer, then it was "touch and go" as we say.
@AerialAg3 жыл бұрын
Thanks.. Yea I had just gotten out the cab when that happened. First time I ever filmed something like that. He tracked over the cane rows and went around that spot after that happened. I was looking forward to going next weekend, but we have a hurricane headed straight for us so it may be awhile before I get back out.
@christopherlovelock91043 жыл бұрын
@@AerialAg - You were lucky there in more ways than one. If a hurricane hits a cane field does it uproot it and dump it somewhere else or just flatten it. Having seen what it does to houses etc. I suppose a cane field doesn't stand any chance at all.

unfortunately in Mexico the lands of most of the country are stony or with volcanic tepetate And it makes little possible the use of machinery for the harvest of sugar cane. Labor is required in cutting, spraying, and loading the product onto trucks.
What's the front horizontal bar on the tractors used for?
@AerialAg Жыл бұрын
Down here in Louisiana they harvest cane rain or shine. So sometimes it can get extremely muddy. The front bars are used to push tractors out of the field.
Is sugarcane an annual or perennial ? How cuts per year
@AerialAg3 жыл бұрын
Planted cane will regenerate each year. Usually the quality and tonnage can drop after a few years. Its typical to plow under and replant after 3-4 years.

do they burn the fields too or not? im from florida they burn the fields here and sometimes green cane
@AerialAg3 жыл бұрын
Plenty farmers here burn the trash off after harvesting the cane. Some use other tools to remove the shucks off the rows. They do burn the standing cane some places in Louisiana, but most is cut green.
