Great Review. Completely agree. I too am a heavier rider and have throw the bike st some very rough and rocky terrain and have never been let down by the Merida.

Thanks for the review. I am considering this bike, but a bit concerned about the actual angle of the seat post, as it seems very slack. I only got to try the bike in the bike shop's car park. I found it a bit awkward to push the seat post down as the seat moves more forward than on other bikes as you push it down. Also, trying to ride with the seat a bit lower than full height seemed less comfortable as the seat was again more forward hence moving me closer to the bars than I would like. I guess I would like to have more than one useable seat height than just at the full extension. Have you had any issues with this? Thanks.

Good looking bike mate, I'm new to the world of MTB biking and just have an entry-level Trek Marlin 8 hardtail. I've now got the itch for a dual shock but I want to really take my time and shop around, the Merida 600 is up there on my list of bikes, mostly because it's fairly easily accessible with the 99 bikes franchise being a seller, i just don't know much about the brand but things seem positive in the reviews department.

If you haven’t got one already I’m just getting another Marida 1 20 600 I’ve looked at a stumpjumper base model trek fuel ex 5 doesn’t compare in the spec for its money $3500 Marida got good forks z2 rear shock ..

You won't get better spec for the money and the frame is really nicely made and the suspension design is very good. Feels like more than 120mm. The geometry isn't as slack as many now but the bike is great for trail riding just the same without flopping around on steep climbs like some slacker bikes. And the bottom bracket height gives a bit of clearance to avoid rock strikes.

Nice review. Do you get much pedal strike? Do you think fork is good enough

Very little pedal strike. Much better than my 27.5 150mm Stumpjumper! Fork is OK, not great, not terrible.

I had a Marida 1 20 600 last year sold it 😭gonna buy another one Exact same was looking out stunt jumper base model or trek ex 5 does not compare to the spec for its money Marida you got a good fork z2 rear shock Shimano ⚙️ good $3500 aus

Depending on size will be close to 15kg

I can't say as I've never weighed mine. I'd guess about 15kg with the tubes. Doesn't feel heavy and the Maxxis Forekasters are lighter than many options and roll well.
