2020 Nutnfancy EDC: HPAC System
Take interesting trip into self defense philosophy with Part 2 of my 2020 EDC Update! Here is a researched, logical approach to a high probability self defense situation in ROL. I sure hope you never need it but if you do, I am confident it will provide excellent service.
We'll go heavy into philosophy as it forms the backbone of what is discussed and shown here. Why HPAC and not WROL? What's the difference? Why choose that gun and not that other one?! Why not include this or that item? Shouldn't you have included this or that? You'll find all the answers inside this next Nutnfancy systems philosophy video.
The focus is on the weapon here and it has to be. It will be your primary life saving device. The whole kit is built around it. You might find, for its compact size, the Nutnfancy HPAC EDC approach will provide substantial armament and defensive capability. It's purpose is to preserve the lives and freedom of my good civilian sheepdogs, pro constitution LE, contractors, military and security folks, and all the other good TNPrs that would regretfully find such a system necessary.

"Morris Outfreakinstanding as always Nutn. ...If you happen to see my little comment, look into Pepper Gel. Sabre is my go to. Much better for overall distance, wind resistance (basically wind proof as long as you're not in a hurricane) and you can find it in all the sizes. I'm not saying do this BUT if you were to pick up some gel and be forced to apply it, aim for the nose. You'll either hit the eyes or an open mouth. And if you hit the open mouth that one shot will be all you need as the unlucky bitch biscuit will now have a fiery mouth , lips and lungs :) 2 2d EdC Another great video. I am glad you brought the M2R pro. Do you like the aggressive bezel as a BACKUP SD item? Or is this not even on your radar? Olight really beefed this one up for the purpose. I was also happy to see you mention the S&W tactical pen. I carry that same one in my restrictive office environment. Happy to see you mention tactical pens as in earlier videos, I think you dismissed them. Keep up the great work! 1 2d Ernie Hey Dudes, Next time you get down to Gunnies there's 100 rounds of 9mm waiting for you with my compliments. 2d Ernie If you guys posted a vid with a TNP ammo drive I bet a ton of dudes would kick in...kinda like Jerry Lewis meets Charleton Heston...right on? 2d Greg I do like your EDC stuff. I know it is difficult to find excuses to do more videos of the type, but there are only so many EDC, BOB, 72-hour kit, etc videos you can do. To that end, I was watching Trent Palmer's survival kit he carries on his bush plane and I felt is was seriously lacking. Nutin' you should totally do a collaboration with him and get him and the other flying cowboys kitted out much better. He lives near Reno and flies all the time, so he could make it up to 'Idaho' pretty easily to meet somewhere. 2d Michael Rodman Great part 2, I was wondering about putting a Roni in a HPAC though I saw above you said the one you shot was not accurate. I noticed they are on a 4.0 version I wonder if it has improved or still has problems, I have never shot he but was interested in them. 2d Corbin McNeal Floatplane is now live it's an amazing alternative to patreon/youtube would be great if you took a look at it 1 22h Ricky Kurtz Hey LTC, I think you forgot something in you EDC of HPAC. How do you indemnify yourself against criminal, and civil issues, bail and attorney’s fees in the event you are involved in an AC(armed conflict) ? I am indemnified, I want to see if my modality is the same as yours. Part 1 and part 2 is very good, thank you for your hard work. Ricky from IBM 1 15h Benson Huntley I have USCCA myself. Benson, also from IBM 7h Caleb11b Just jumped on patreon and saw this was uploaded. Sorta frustrated that neither my email or patreon gave me a notification. Thank you Nutnfancy for such quality, insightful, and entertaining content! 8h Benson Huntley Hey Nutn what happened to pants pockets? Ben I feel like I’m on an island regarding both of these vids, but if we all just agree with this, TNP itself becomes group think and that would be a disaster. I just don’t think the philosophy is as sound and threshed out like I’m used to from Nutn. The concept is awesome. I really disagree with some of the decisions. “SAWC” “don’t put too much crap in here”, but there’s a fire starter and 7 blades on your person at all times? ... Including defensive spray, a tactical pen, and a baton, while saying there’s no need for a fixed blade? In high probability for conflict? I don’t get the philosophy or the practicality. For LP maybe we have a small thing of pepper spray, then for HP we bump up to a bigger bag and add something like an SRK? That would seem more logical and it’s not gratuitous, triplicate, heavy junk. I mean you’re carrying a level II first aid because bloodshed is likely but insinuating that a fighting knife would be dumb. Again. Love the concept I hadn’t really thought of it like this. I’m definitely prepping an HP pack! I just disagree a lot with the content here 4 3d EVAN K. He also said he carries that many blades because it makes him happy. Aka 2nd cool. 3 3d The Nutnfancy Project No worries Ben, criticism accepted. Actually the focus for this video which I don't want to say in the video is sanctuary counties. Although it's not a survival kit I do add a few super lightweight items to put in there. No disadvantage there. And as Evan notes, I carry that many blades in LP system for 2nd Cool. There's only one knife shown in this HP system. You do make a good point for substituting the pen for a fixed blade, I like that point. The spray is less than lethal though and I make good points about having that capability. just now Load 4 replies Edward Dibble Very interesting, as always! Couldn't you glue your velcro right to to ballistic panel itself, and take out the wooden board? Dunno, maybe the ballistic panel isn't stiff enough. 1 3d Jason Burson Perfect philosophy and acronyms for my normal carry pattern when I did not even realize I was doing it, ie mouse gun and super light edc items for perceived safe zones (LP), double stack subcompact with full size magazines and heavier edc items for what I will now call HP areas (sadly now including places like big box stores). Thanks for your work and glad the surgery went well. 1 3d Nancy Merrell-Robertson I loved Part 1 and I love Part 2! I believe you are the ONLY person I've seen who is differentiating between LPFAC and HPFAC (Are we going to drop that F or not?). Thank you, thank you for giving us all the ideas we need to get started with making our HP bag. I kind of have one, but not as good as yours and not as "normal looking" as yours. My EDC is perfect for me but I definitely have my work cut out to create an HP bag that is equally usable for me, my small size, my need for lighter loads than a man can carry. KEEP IT COMING. You.Are.The.Best. 1 3d Orson I think I will consider integrating a Lvl IIIa into my backpack. Also the idea with zips is great. Thanks, always some good ideas in the vids. 👍 1 3d Phake A'Count So, HP can mean a likelihood of a localized WROL. 1 3d Connor Murphy Great Video. Unrelated question, I'm looking to get my first bike. My inclination is something affordable like a used V-Strom 650 or a Versys. What would you recommend and do you think ABS is necessary? 1 3d Steve Skaggs If you are going somewhere that you need 5 33 rd mags and 5 knives a baton bear spray and a fake knife pen. Stay at home bro. Oh yeah. That stun gun only pisses people off. It wont drop a man. Shoot someone that needs shot. It does everyone else a favor. If its high probability wouldnt you want your gun more accessible? 3d Michael This is awesome. Love how you repurpose everyday bags/materials that can be found around the house. Will definitely be putting something together. 1 2d Rick Grad I don't think I would be comfortable with my gun in the bag instead of on my side. I really liked the video and I see the value of having a system like this, I just think I would still have the handgun on me and the bag on my weak side. I've spent soo much time training to draw from concealment...and still working on it, that I don't know how well it would workout trying to fumble around a different system to access my weapon. I'm sure with practice I could make it work, but it's just very different than what I'm doing now. Love the idea of adding body armor and a lot more magazines. Thanks for all of your hard work, especially with a bum shoulder."

This summer time there was rule of law but I lived in a place of high probability of armed conflict and I implemented a similar system.

Over the last week, the law-abiding civilian Sheepdogs in Coeur d'Alene Idaho have been defending their streets against"protesters" . Armed Sheepdogs BY THE HUNDREDS on every street and corner in town. I was a proud man for my community this week. And not so much as a broken window here, while right next door in Spokane WA they had chaos going on.

Hey, Nutnfancy. Change the acronyms to "L-PAC" and "H-PAC" or you can say "Low PAC" and "High PAC". The acronyms work if you change "for" to "of" which you generally won't include in an acronym.

If you want a small backpack rifle something really tiny with the rifle caliber capabilities. That's where the 300 Blackout comes into play for me. Short barrel length, full powder burn, heavy-hitting ballistics for close-quarters engagements in a tiny package as a "pistol" with a brace/law folder. Quiet with a can, or go supersonic to solve problems. Great system for that philosophy of use as far as in a backpack in your rig ect.

I just wish the medical was more accessible and staged for use. In a bag + zippered bag + waterproof bag seems like too many layers for a stop the bleed kit. And the amount of times I've heard people avoiding third party TQ brands because the windlass is prone to failure has always made me think twice about the vendors I purchase from. Not saying my kit is perfect as we all have things we're actively working on and rethinking but it's prudent to never stop reevaluating what you carry and why. Great stuff from TNP as usual though!

@@77TickTockTime absolutely! I felt the same exact way. Even with the second tq being sealed and all the other stuff just kinda thrown in there and sealed up. I always comment on his EDC vids bc I've never seen medical before in one. I'm just glad he has one now but you are totally right. Hey nutn, I have that exact same EndoTactical setup with the G34, except mine is a G21C. Works great for Gen3s, but I'm finding that it is either carried with the brace attached all of the time, or carried not at all. I use it strictly for vehicle use, so attaching when getting in a vehicle, and detaching when getting out, is not that big of a deal, but I could see it as a problem trying to get this attached in a stressful situation, or when on foot, and carried (detached) in a bag. Makes me wonder if a folding adapter is in order... As far as HPAC goes, we may not necessarily be in HPAC territory just yet, but I know that we are definitely not stable in the LPAC zone either. 10 years ago, if I were able to have a CPL at the time, I probably would have been fine with a single stack, 6-7 shot pocket pistol, no extra mag, but these days, absolute minimum is a G19 size gun, with G19 capacity, and an extra mag.

I guess my concern is that you don’t necessarily know you’re going into a HPAC situation - more likely things will go from AZPAC to LPAC to HPAC in a few seconds. Take the wrong highway exit at night for example... So saying you’d choose this kit or that kit ahead of time is meaningless. If you KNOW you’re heading into a bad situation, either don’t go at all, or tac-up and go in heavy. I’d prefer the former. Oh, AZPAC - almost zero probability of armed conflict.

David Pyle if I am driving very far, I go HPFAC no matter what. If I know for sure that I have business in a shady area, same thing. However all I do is take a little more gun as my primary and shift a Ruger LCP to ankle carry. I don’t think there’s ever gonna be a day, at least I hope, where I am apt to get in the Miami Dade ‘86 shootout. And if I knew it was like that, I would roll like I described, with a couple long arms in the trunk. Well, basically the same way the cops do actually.

These days, especially in larger cities or metro areas, there is a certain month of the year in a certain calendar where extreme violent and mass casualty events are far more likely because a certain group of people in this certain month believe they're going to be rewarded more in the afterlife, and their leadership tells them with authority and scholarship in this certain group's important texts to attack people who don't belong to their particular group with greater ferocity at this time. Areas with greater concentrations of this certain group of people see a large increase in violence. Such a time, if you live in one of these areas, is most definitely an HPAC time.

Thoughts on keeping two or three IFAC's in the same pouch as the pistol on the side without the magazines just for HP. Extra trauma kits could be very helpful

What expires on the pepper spray is really the propellent. I found out the hard way when I went to use mine once (it wasn't even expired) and it drizzled out all over my hand. Make sure to check your pepper spray every couple of months with a test squirt.

A suggestion to try for the holster backing in the backpack would be generic brand Sam splints. Doesnt add much more weight and more sturdy durable than the leather. Also could save some space and weight with a RATS tourniquet

Funny on the messenger bag being the choice, my first thought was a messenger style bag with something like a glock (full size, any flavor) in one of the smaller carbine type chassis (something like the recover 20/20, flux would be smaller but HUGE cost and far less user friendly, even the micro roni would be extremely thick to hide in a bag.) I also carry a bag to hold stuff (insulin and snacks since I'm a type 1 diabetic) and with all the spare room I often have thought "A gun that would be impossible to IWB but too small for a backpack would be perfect in here, plus pouches for mags", and as you'd said, messenger style bags just disappear to people, hiding a full system in plain sight becomes far easier. That all aside, I think something more than a strict "handgun" would be ideal, something more akin to the "civilian PDW" concept (as laid out by brass facts, it's a good video if you're curious on the idea) seems really applicable here. Great video!

In the CaliSucks My city filed for bankruptcy. The PD operated in a very limited, low liability capacity. They basically only rolled out to document incidents. We lived in technically a WROL environment for many years. It sucked

I have a similar setup in a laptop bag sans the ballistic plate. I EDC a G17 anyways so I would were it appendix as always and it’s nice to have this extra magazines and more capable Med kit. I do want to get the Vertx messagesr bag, cut off all of the “I have a gun on me” Velcro and use their companion level IIIa panel. In this hypothetical scenario I would also have my rifle and spare rifle mags staged in my vehicle.

As someone that’s been involved in martial arts and also worked multiple security jobs over the past 20 years, I am going to have to recommend the pepper spray (preferably gel) over the stun gun for non-lethal self-defense. If you look at a lot of real tests with stun guns and their effects, yes, they can hurt like hell, but many aggressive or drunk/high people have easily overcome that (Taser and police-type taser guns are different) and you also have to be in close-quarters where you can be grabbed or attacked to employ the stun gun. The gel-based pepper spray (gel-based is much less likely to be affected by wind and blow back on you) can be deployed from a distance and just immediately shuts people down! Johnny Knoxville, from MTV’s “Jackass” show and films, has had pretty much every non-lethal self-defense item used against him. Bean bag rounds, tasers, stun guns, etc. And Johnny Knoxville said that out of all them, the pepper spray was the absolute worst and not only immediately shut him down, but it lasts for a while.
